Casa Congo

This is actually three businesses in one. An artist shop, a restaurant, and a boutique hotel. We found the restaurant while sightseeing in portobello. It is the cleanest and most modern place in Portobello. The view is fantastic as you are directly on the water overlooking the shipwrecks. Service was exceptional and the food was great, even for kids. Next time in Panama we will probably stay here. We will definitely visit the restaurant again. I also got a tshirt at their local art shop.

Great hotel with friendly staff in the heart of Portobelo. Be sure to check out their art gallery downstairs filled with local artists. The history of the Congolese culture is so rich here in this part of Panama and I loved learning about it. The room was very cute and clean and had an incredible view — see photos! The location is perfect! Just right after to the Fort ruins. You're dining by the water and merchant with fresh seafood arrive by boat and offer to sale you their fresh cash. The service is very friendly and quick. The food is made to serve and the freshness of the food is noticeable! I recommend the fried arañitas and the calamari. My main dish was the corvina a lo macho with the octopus and it was delicious! A feast for a true seafood lover! This place would be a great place to visit if you're in Portobello, Panama!

Highly recommended, this is a great 3-star boutique hotel. I particularly appreciated the very kind staff. The place and rooms (well, the one we stayed in anyway...) are nicely appointed, the restoration of this building was done with great taste, 7 years ago, it looks like, and still impeccable. The menu is simple, consisting of great local food. I tasted a DELICIOUS rice with coconut...

This place is a little tricky to find, but make the effort. The restaurant is on the water. The service and food are great. The art gallery features local artists and, well, we had to have some. Stop by, you'll be glad you did!

If you are a person who like to check details casa congo is one of them. More than a hotel. They share with arts their culture and the more important; The arts were made from people who live in portobelo. And adittion to that the food is delicious.

Great location and Stacey went above and beyond in making sure we were taken care of. Would gladly book Casa Congo again. Having a two bedroom hotel room was a big plus. Parking can be tricky so contact them ahead of time.

On our second trip to Panama we wanted to venture outside of Panama City. We chose Portobelo and had a wonderful time. At Casa Congo, Stacey welcomed us warmly and made sure we had everything we needed. Dinner at the restaraunt was first rate, with freshly caught fish. We were also very impressed with the breakfast service that was included with our room. We chose a two bedroom suite at Rayo Verde, that had space for our family. Stacey arranged for beach and historic town tours while we were there which we thoroughly enjoyed.

We had a couple of nights in Panama after a trip to the San Blas islands and decided to stay in Portobelo. Casa Congo was super receptive as our dates had changed unexpectedly, and they resolved all issues before we arrived. The accommodation was overlooking a peaceful bay and the room was excellent, hot shower, air con and a comfy bed. The staff are super helpful and they have lots of activities which can be booked through their reception. We took a boat trip to a nearby beach, which also went through some amazing mangroves. We set the pickup time with the boat driver and we spent the whole day enjoying the pristine beach.

Wonderful spot with a backyard right there at the ocean. Stayed at Pajarito cabin, which is an attic with one double and 2 single beds, including a private bathroom. There's local art in display all over the place. They have a restaurant and breakfast is included with your stay, tried the corvina, pargo and cambombia, all fresh and tasty. Boats can pick you up right there at the backyard. Definitely recommended.

My wife and I stayer here for 3 nights in Mar. 2019. Everything (service, breakfast, etc.) was fine. The manager, Ivin or Ibin, was very helpful and set up a couple of water taxi to snorkeling trips for us. The restaurant was good although it was closed 2 of our 3 nights there.

Great food, host was excellent, beautiful view from room that was a very clean cute room.

Lovely place with access to the water and they will arrange water taxies. The restaurant was very good but closes very early. We enjoyed sitting next to the water during breakfast.

Wonderful experience. There's no parking space, so keep that in mind, but the food was amazing and the clerks were very nice!

Very nice boutique hotel with a art gallery attached. All the staffs are very friendly and helpful. And the bay of Portobello is beautiful .
