We visited this hotel in December 2022. The rooms are very clean and well decorated, the air conditioner works well, the water pressure is strong and the hot water is very hot. There is an on site restaurant with great food (they even catered to my food allergies when possible) and had nice servers. The hotel is on the water and the restaurant/bar is on top of the water. It is brand new and the only of it's kind in the area. Also, great security. The owners of this hotel are actively involved in the day to day operations and it shows. We highly recommend staying here!

I highly recommend this hotel. It was clean, the staff was friendly and the view was amazing. The food was awesome and affordable. A very lovely place to relax.

Excellent food bar and grill a muat stay

El Bongo is a wonderful hotel in Portobelo. I highly recommend this place. The owners are so kind and make a great effort that you enjoy your stay. It is one of the few places you can enjoy hot water, humid controlled rolms, a decent restaurant (although quite pricey) and good wifi for the location.

What a great place! Peaceful, comfortable, and beautiful! Not your typical tourist trap, but the geniune Panamanian experience. Emiliano and Christina are fantastic hosts. The food and service were the best. Be sure to hook up with Ray, the diving instructor. Scuba diving was the icing on our vacation cake!

We were so fortunate to have found this little piece of heaven.
I hardly know where to begin as there are so many reasons to stay here. New, nicely decorated and well appointed rooms with fridge, microwave, coffee maker and a wonderful shower with hot water.
The beach has lots of lounges and hammocks from which to enjoy the sunrise or sunset and everything in between. Or, for some activity, you can safely snorkel or kayak across to a little island with another sandy beach.
We enjoyed Christine, Emiliano and their staff.They all are very warm, welcoming and helpful.
Captain Jack's, the attached restaurant, has a fun atmosphere and serves excellent food and drinks We especially like the whole snapper prepared th Panamanian way.
This was the perfect place to spend our last days in beautiful Panama.

Very unique hotel in Portobelo with a restaurant as well. Rooms were new and clean which is very important to my family. I look forward to coming back.

Outstanding experience! Just a short flight from the US and a quick drive through the beautiful inlands of Panama and you are in a tropical paradise, spoiled by a great staff. The owners are involved with your stay from check-in to check-out making sure every need is attended to. The rooms are comfortable and steps from the cabanas and ocean. Their Master Dive Instructor is excellent and from the dock you are a few hundred meters from some of the best dive sites on earth. The food at teh restaurant is outstanding and you are a short walk from the old Spanish forts and downtown Portobelo. Highly recommend!

We only had the food but it was totally over the top. The view was perfect and the service was great. We are slightly challenged by the Spanish language and they were very accommodating.

Great relaxed stay in new rooms with clear white towels and new beds. Fun inflatable beds on the laguna. Kayaks available for rent to explore the island close by.

Have been coming to Porto Belo for 25 years. Hotel options have been slowly improving over this period. A week ago went looking for Captain Jack's onmly to find that it was gone. Neighbors told us they had moved about 3 km outside of town, so we went looking for it. What we found was a wonderful hotel with a great restaurant, Capt Jack's. The hotel hasabout ten rooms of varying sizes accomodating 1-6 or more. Rooms are CLEAN, moder, a/c, wifi, and TV. Owners Emiliano and Christina are bilingual Eng/Span and are lovely people. Prices are reasonable and the setting is heavenly. Wife and I loved it.

A beautiful boutique hotel in Colón... the rooms are well designed, extremely clean, and with a beautiful view to the Caribbean...the rooms have a fridge and a microwave, so you can store and heat your own food

Found this place by luck while stranded in Portobelo, heavy raining, not reservation nor precall, owners were super kind. What a lucky strike! Rooms are really clean and spacy, confi beds, great bathrooms, great AC, AWESOME Wi-Fi... All around the hotel you get this "villa in The Caribbean vibe", the beach is just a couple of feets away from your room! I'm a regular goer to the Portobelo area and this is definitely my new place to stay. PS: Be sure to sail yourself on a kayak to the mangrove island with the little yellow sand beach 10 minutes away from the hotel. Oh!!! And certanly having Captain Jack's sunset bar & restaurant inside the hotel (well known as one of the best places to eat around town) is a plus.
