Justiliano and his family own the cave. I had a fantastic, interesting and adventurous tour with him. On the way to the cave through the mangroves we saw sloths and on the hike the little red frogs. The cave is filled with all kinds of bats, super interesting and the hike through the cave is fun. This is off the beaten path and if you love nature, don't miss it :-D

I want to share an amazing adventure with everyone basically right here in the backyard of Bocas on Bastimentos. We had a chance to meet Justiliano who operates a new guide service to an incredible bat cave. His knowledge and love of the cave and the natural area around it is truly inspirational. He is available for guided tours and has invested alot of money and time in a new outpost and equipment to explore the cave. Please reach out to him on whatsapp at +50769434520 to schedule a tour soon. You won't regret it and please tell I sent you as I promised him I would help raise awareness of his business and the wonderful bat cave...(we have updated his contact info here Google Maps)

had a blast with Justiliano on this short and sweet tour with all necessary gear provided (water shoes, helmet and head lamps).
i’d recommend coming in swim shorts and a shirt you don’t care about getting dirty (definitely not a white button down!) as you may be wading in water up to your chest at times (this was the case when we visited in May).

hike itself is a simple 20-30mins each way, during which you’ll spot Sore Mouth Bush, cacao trees and maybe even the infamous red frog!

we spent an hour tops in the cave system, which was plenty of time to see a variety of bat species, a tarantula, shrimp and a few other interesting insects. if you’re visiting Bastimentos, I certainly recommend paying Justiliano, his farm and adorable dog Tigre a visit!

A sloth came down right next to the boat. 😁 Saw bats, caiman, monkeys, little orange frogs, orange cup muhrooms, and the caving ended up being pretty challenging, but he adapts it to your ability. Exceeded ALL my expectations. Organised with Kawi Voyage.

We had the best tour with Justilianto! I found his whatsapp through the google reviews and sent him a message. He picked us up from Bocas Town the next morning. He & his family own the bat cave and the land so he knows lots about it and the local area. On the way to the cave, we saw dolphins and he stopped the boat so we could spend time with this. He always respectfully kept his distance from them and moved slowly, and allowed them to choose their interaction with us. We also saw two species of sloth, one with a baby, as well as some small frog species. The equiptment provided for the bat cave was new and in good condition, and the tour itself was fantastic! After the tour, Justilianto's wife made us beautifully presented fruit platters to enjoy before he dropped us back off in Bocas. Can't recommend him enough!

Walking in the cave was really an adventure and Justiniano was a fantastic guide, a true enlightened soul. Very kind, patient, tranquil and full of love. Our two kids were scared of course but in the end they really enjoyed it!

We visited the cave with indigenous guide Milton Rutilio (you can find him online). He knows a lot about the animals and vegetation. Also, going with him you contribute to the indigenous community in Bahia Honda. We also had lunch with them, delicious.

We had a great visit to the batcave with Justiliano - a cool adventure below the surface! Born and raised in the area, excellent guidance and info, flexible for meet-up, kind and very good English speaker, we were lucky to have contacted him. I don't often write reviews, but I'm glad to make an exception here. Contact for WhatsApp: +507 6943-4520

A little bit difficult to get to but well worth the effort! Kayaked from agua dulce marina close to a mile up a slow meandering river, then the guide led me a ways through the jungle to the cave, absolutely fascinating and beautiful! Just make sure you have everything you need, such as waterproof case for your phone, bug spray and water Shoes, you will be in water bout 4 ft. deep at times! The guide was great and speaks enough english for non Spanish speakers to be comfortable.

Doen !!, super leuk, prima gids, (hustiliano), spreekt goed Engels, relaxed. Op ons verzoek ook de rechter tunnel een stuk gedaan, was gaaf. De weg er naar toe, mangrove en jungle is ook de moeite waard
