My recent stay at La Loma was nothing short of magical. This lodge is truly unique, an escape into the jungle with the comforts of a luxury property. The tours are private and easy to arrange. Within one day we saw sloths, monkeys, a large pod of dolphins, starfish and tropical fish. The property can also cater to dietary restrictions with ease.

Special thanks for Juan Carlos and team for the exceptional hospitality, you will feel very at home and taken care of during your stay. I am already dreaming of staying here again!

La Loma is a jungle paradise! We stayed in the Rainforest King and would highly recommend the upgrade. The room opens out into the rainforest canopy which is stunning. The bed is surrounded in a mosquito net which provided ample protection from the local wildlife, plenty of citronella wheels are supplied and the food and drink was outstanding! My partner and I are both vegetarian and really struggle to find suitable options when travelling, but not the case at La Loma, their cuisine is rooted in that which is grown locally and we were both very impressed with all meals provided. An expert bar tender also provided exceptional cocktails, again using local ingredients, that made for wonderful daily sundowners. The tour of the on site farm is a must, Mr Kelly made it really interesting and enjoyable (we even saw a Mum and Baby Sloth!) and there are a number of paid for excursions available too. My only note is the bat cave involves going in water and includes an option for swimming (so wear appropriate clothing), this wasn’t made clear on the information sheet, which caught us out. Aside from that the staff were really friendly, super helpful and I cannot recommend the experience highly enough!

We loved our time at La Loma and are already looking forward to coming back! All of the staff was amazing! We loved Bejlios cocktails of the day and Juan Carlos was helpful with tours! Food was absolutely amazing, morning yoga was great and we thought the farm tour was super interesting. We stayed in the rainforest queen and had the best view + were able to see monkeys and sloths. Would recommend!

This is easily one of the best places I have visited in my life. It offers unique experience in the middle of the jungle while giving the proximity to the sea and the Bocas town. If you want unforgettable and perfect luxurious experience while feeling like at home and one with the nature, this is the place to visit. I recommend staying at least 3 nights but ideally a week or two. The staff is amazing, friendly and helpful! They have arranged everything perfectly for us and I have learned a lot about local life and culture. Truly amazing. Special greeting to Mr Kelly! Cocoa farm tour was amazing and the food is almost Michelin level with a home cuisine touch! I cannot wait to be back.

We stayed at La Loma Lodge in September 2023 for two nights with our two kids in the Family Treetop House. Although the price and therefore expectations have been very high, it was our best choice to stay at La Loma. Sophia and the team were so helpful and supportive in a very personal treatment of their guests. The location is just stunning and the Treehouse was stylish but still feeling very natural and down to earth. The main building has stunning views and we loved to spend time there. We definitely want to recommend to walk the trails and do the farm and cacao tour. There is so much to learn and helps to get a better understanding on the hole concept. If you want to get away from all, but you still want to keep mental luxury, this is the place to be. Within our three-week trip through Costa Rica and Panama it was so far our favorite place.

Amazing experience in this jungle lodge! The food was delicious and all procured on site. The service was also excellent. The bonus was the great workout we got from hiking to and from our cabana each day. All photos are from our stay including the sloth that visited us the first night. We also had visits from carablanca monkeys, armadillos, and lots of birds.

We loved our stay at La Loma. The experience of sleeping effectively in the open air in our tree house was incredible. The room was beautifully furnished with an amazing shower within the trees open to the elements.

The cacao farm tour was fun and full of information with a friendly guide and lots of plants tasters on the way round. Relaxing in the main lodge and our treehouse was great and what I feel the main reason for staying here is.

The food in the restaurant was absolutely amazing and they cater to various dietary requirements. I am always wary when you are served a meal with no choice on the menu, but every meal was brilliant with unique ingredients from the onsite permaculture farm.

The walk to and from the room itself is some of the densest rainforest you'll likely ever walk through, with miniature red frogs and sloths. There are also the reserve trails for more of an adventure which we enjoyed doing. Using the kayaks as well to explore the mangroves in the bay was great fun.

The are some things to be aware of as whilst it is a luxury experience it isn't conventional luxury. The rooms are steep, sweaty walks from the main lodge. The bugs are huge and numerous and in our room we were basically sleeping outside with a large mosquito tent around us. The service is good, but not the extremes of luxury service you would usually get when spending this sort of money. The staff were all friendly and helpful when needed, but leave you to your own devices. Dinner is at a set time which is fine, but if you're halfway through a card game you may be ushered to your dinner table. Overall these weren't issues for us as we still found it a luxury experience and would highly recommend it, but may not be what everyone is looking for in this price bracket.

The whole team was very nice. The view from the main lodge to the sea and from our bungalow to the Jungle was really beautiful. We even saw some monkeys passing near by. We saw lots of sloths, even with small Babys, only a few meter away. The chocolate farm tour, which is included, is really amazing and we learned a lot about flora and fauna in the jungle. We had the opportunity to go fishing and we caught 6 fishes, since it was our first time fishing we were really happy and the Team from la loma cooked our catch to perfection. Food in general was really delicious and had a great variety. Thanks for the great time here :)

My two friends and I had an amazing time at La Loma Jungle Lodge, where we were immersed in the jungle, surrounded by lush vegetation and wildlife. The entire experience is ecologically mindful, sustainable, and integrated into the nature around you, with beautiful design for comfort as well. We loved waking up to a chorus of sounds - parrots, monkeys, cicadas, and more - beckoning us to get up and enjoy the cacao tea and muffins already delivered to our room, while getting a close-up view of the wildlife through the provided binoculars. The meals and cocktails were so delicious, fresh, and healthy; we were never hungry despite all of the walking we did around the jungle! We also loved taking a tour of the permaculture garden/food forest and cacao farm - delights for all the senses. This is truly a special place.

La Loma is a very special place. We stayed in the king treetop bungalow. Being surrounded by the jungle was wonderful. We enjoyed the farm and cacao tour. We saw monkeys, many birds, and red frogs. The staff are very helpful. Margareda answered many questions for us before our arrival and during our stay.
The food was very innovative and fresh. Various preferences were accommodated by the chef.
The star gazing is magnificent

My friends and I recently spent two nights at La Loma Jungle Lodge. It was wonderful! The location is remote but getting there was no problem. The food was excellent at every meal. We were able to see a lot of wildlife walking on the surrounding trails. Highlights of the visit for me were the bioluminescence boat tour and seeing a sloth with new baby. I will definitely be a return guest sometime soon and hope to stay much longer next time. If you are interested in off the beaten path locations, you can’t go wrong choosing La Loma Jungle Lodge!

Our time at la Loma was magical. As a family of 4 with two teenage kids we all had experienced adventure, relaxation and connection. The food was delicious and was always prepared with so much love and care from the staff. All food was made from local ingredients which increased our feelings of connection to the jungle. Sleeping in the jungle and hearing the sounds of nature and the rain falling on the roof was soothing. Yoga in the morning with a view of the bay directed by a kind and skilled teacher was excellent. The day long adventures were fun, exciting and educational. The staff was so flexible and accommodating to our needs. We felt more like part of an extended family than guests at a resort. I can’t recommend la Loma more highly. If you want to get away, be taken care of lovingly and explore the beautiful landscape of Panama come here! We will miss it.

Accommodations and the tours were lovely. Margarida and team (including Sergio’s great permaculture and cocoa tour and Roger’s bioluminescence night boat tour) were all extremely professional, courteous, and welcoming. My partner and I came here for our 2 year anniversary and were treated to lovely meals, a romantic arrangement in our treetop room, and all around comfort. There were a few minor snafus that come about with a smaller operation, but were handled professionally (and that my partner has reviewed already). La Loma made our entire trip out to Bocas del Toro. This is definitely a pricier and more privileged experience, but we were so glad to be able to spend a night in the jungle at this wonderfully curated jungle oasis. The rooms are complete to the finest detail, including pre-filled water bottles for your stay, binoculars to sit out and look for animals, mosquito repellant and netting, and hammocks. The bathroom is lux for the jungle. Everything here is sustainable and all the food is grown here (learn about and taste it all on your permaculture tour!). Wake up to morning cocoa tea and muffins delivered right to your door. Enjoy lunch with the other guests (who are all also lovely and truly added to the experience). You won’t regret staying here and I highly recommend it (if even for one night). I hope to be back one day and look forward to seeing how this farm continues to grow, thrive, and contribute to the overall Bocas community.

This is a once in a lifetime experience that my wife set up for us and I would 100% recommend to anyone. The Lodge is amazing with breathtaking views, and you get to encounter wildlife such as dolphins, turtles and stingrays, monkeys, birds. The staff was amazing, the food was delicious and just being able to connect with our environment was exactly what my wife and I needed for the time we were there. Thanks again to the staff for all their hard work!

La Loma is a magical place that left a deep impact. Living in the rainforest in a truly intact ecosystem, we enjoyed the sights and sounds of nature in our beautiful bungalow. We enjoyed eating the many wonderful plants grown on property. Removing virtually every bit of mechanical noise, advertisement, screen time, and other modern day disrupters allowed me a level of clarity that I cannot normally achieve. I had all sorts of positive thoughts and memories that I don’t normally have access to. There is something deeply therapeutic about enveloping oneself in nature, but doing so in a luxury setting (with high quality food, shelter, and activities) is rare and spectacular.
To add to the magic, the local indigenous culture is tied deeply into the DNA of this property- many indigenous people are employed by the resort, their stories are told, their recipes are featured, and their artwork is sold. Shout out to Roger the tour guide and Humberto the bartender! These guys have such positive energy and are great at what they do!
The real MVP from a service standpoint is Ricardo, the GM, who arrived at the resort the same day as us and truly ensured that we had a 5 star experience.

This place isn’t for everyone, though. The bungalows are far apart to maximize privacy, and there will be a significant hike to and from your meals and activities, so don’t go if your mobility is compromised. The food was ideal for us (largely plant based, locally grown on site, no red meat, can accommodate most dietary restrictions), but I know some people who wouldn’t stand for that on vacation 🐮

If you’re worried about bugs, it really wasn’t bad. Seriously. You’ll see some large insects at night if you keep your lights on, but the provided net around the bed is effective, convenient and even luxurious in a way. The mosquitoes aren’t as bad as we’ve experienced in other parts of the Caribbean.

If you’re worried about not having A/C, I don’t blame you- I was too. We were there in April and it was actually really nice. The round bungalows are designed so well- there is an opening in the ceiling and a fan which creates a huge constant breeze right onto the bed. I had no trouble sleeping, and I loved rising with the sun every morning and having hot cacao + a snack delivered!

Such fond memories of this place. We will be back one day.

This place is amazing!! The food was the best I’ve ever had, the staff was so accommodating and friendly, and the environment was so peaceful.
Some of my worries initially were bugs/critters and not being near the beach. But these ended up not being an issue. It’s a very quick walk to the dock and they can boat you to any beach. And even though the room was open to the jungle, we didn’t have any issues with bugs inside of our room.
I highly recommend doing the bioluminescence tour. Swimming in the bioluminescent water in the middle of the night was probably the most magical experience of my life! Can’t wait to go back.

I will add that this might not be the place for someone who hates walking up stairs frequently or someone who is an extremely picky eater. That being said, they were very accommodating with food allergies and dislikes so talk to them first. But I don’t think this is the kind of place that serves chicken nuggets and French fries. The main lodge where food and drinks are served is up a hill and requires climbing some stairs. It wasn’t an issue for me and my parents but we were breathing a little heavy each time we went up, haha.

My Wife and I visited La Loma Jungle Lodge during our visit to Panama. We stayed in three areas and four separate hotels/resorts while in the Country. La Loma was the best experience of the entire trip. The rainforest king bungalow was absolutely perfect and had everything you could want and need. Waking up to the beautiful views with the sounds of the jungle during a light morning rain is something I never forget. You can just lay in bed or the net/hammock all day without having to do anything. The bed is comfortable, the shower is open but private which was great, and the mosquito net worked like a charm for anyone worried about the bugs they were not really an issue. The food though was undoubtfully some of the best we tasted throughout Panama. The surprise of not knowing what you were going to get was our favorite part. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well thought out. Every single meal was delicious and plenty of food. The farm tour with Sergio is a must-do! You get to see how they grow their permaculture, along with tasting all of the fruits and vegetables unique to Panama that I had previously never heard of or experienced.  We also kayaked around through the mangroves and did their hiking trails which take you all through the jungle. We got the opportunity to see tons of birds, monkeys, red frogs, and more. Last, the entire staff truly made of feel welcome. From the time you step off the boat to the time you leave. I can not say enough great things about this place. If you are considering a stay at La Loma Jungle please do yourself a favor, it was truly magical.

Hidden in the rainforest of Isla Bastimentos, La Loma Jungle Lodge was better than expected. The vibe of the lodge is relaxing from the moment you arrive and the accommodations were lovely and clean, with a rustic, handcrafted feeling. The menu was yummy, the mixology was appetizing and creative, and both with great service to match. The lodge also offers a variety of activities, from touring their local farm to jungle and beach trips. We hiked thru the jungle across the island to reach Playa Larga, Playa Polo and Red Frog Beach and it was a very pleasing experience. I would definitely stay there again.

The property is beautiful. We were treated wonderfully from the moment we got there to the moment Mr. Kelly dropped us back at the Boca docks. The food was beautiful, healthy and delicious. There was so much food. (Idk how anyone would/could want or need more). The main chef was very accommodating with my kids and my GF issues. We enjoyed playing games, eating together as a family, relaxing with a drink before dinner and the excursions that were offered. Our room was clean and there was hot showers for all 5 of us.
We loved the cacao tea and muffin each morning. My 8 yo loved to watch the food being prepared from scratch.
Yoga was offered every morning and looked amazing although, we didn’t have time to try it. We did the cacao farm tour and hiked both the green and red hikes. Overall, It was a safe comfortable jungle experience. Bring earplugs or white noise machine if you are a light sleeper. We have kids 19, 17 and 8.
I am giving it 5 stars for Jungle adventures.
