This will be part of your Panama Canal Transit on a cruise ship. Great experience!

Truly, an experience of a lifetime. We are passing through the older, smaller lots, and there is only inches between the side of the ship and the wall of the lock. The mules don’t push the ship a long they just keep it centered.

Great experience going through the Panama canal.

Interesting to watch the electric trains keeping the ships central within the locks so they don't touch the sides. Looking forward into the canal is very exciting. Lots of films on the construction of the canal but not enough about the way these locks operate. Was not expecting much so was overwhelmed. Then there are the 'paid waivers' at a hotel type building near the exit just before the view of Panama City, awesome!

I have been here twice and it is truly amazing to watch it live. Go see the IMAX 30 min film narrated by Morgan Freeman. The history alone puts the Canal into perspective.

Beautiful experience.
Two tugs will be assisted when entering or leaving the Miraflores Locks. While inside 8 locomotives hold PanMax ships in a center position. Smaller private yacht need to be escorted be an extra tug.
The Panama canal crew will take care of everything on station. While on board you only have to control the winches and operate the main engine.

I've done the crossing 5 times and it's always a very interesting experience. We were on the Silver Moon and you get some great views of the who procedure of the locks from the top deck.

We transited the Panama canal through the Gaton, Pedro Meguel, and Miraflores locks. The whole effort is very interesting to watch as the personnel go about the process of moving very large ships through these locks.

The single-step Pedro Miguel Locks (1911) on the Panama Canal, Panama, raise or lower ships 9.4 meters between Miraflores Lake and the level of Gatun Lake in the Culebra Cut. The waterway on the right gives access to the newer Cocoli Locks (2016).

Amazing experience. If you get the chance to transit. Do it. Passing to the Pacific, the first 3 locks are hard work but the last 3 are easy.

Going through the locks was a totally different experience, from start to finish. Being on a cruise ship helped.

This was a lifetime dream to go through the Panama Canal. It is truly an experience everyone should do. The new locks were great too, but doing the old locks was special. On the cruise ship, you got the narration, so helpful. I did Holland American Lines, and it was superb narration. I recommend going in either direction. The larger cruise ships have to use the new locks, so take that into consideration when booking, if you have a preference.

Cruise providea food since you have to depart so early. The Narrator Gus was amazing at covering history and also design and structural information both in Spanish and English.
