Royal Customs House of Portobelo

We were pointed to this fabulously renovated building by Tourist PC Miranda - an absolute treasure of an officer who we kept bumping into. He was a perfect advocate for tourism. The building itself had clear and interesting storyboards throughout. Delightful.

As of July 2023 this place is reopened. In fact when we went there they were having very interesting exhibits and free popcorn and cotton candy. It’s very well preserved and there are lots of photo opportunities in the surrounding fort filled with Spanish canons still pointing to the sea which is still filled with visible shipwrecks both modern and ancient.

Do not miss the presentation of the video that tells part of the history of the Spanish conquest of the new lands. beautiful coastal community with very friendly people and with a high sense of affection for tourists. delicious coastal food

Hermoso, ver como se recupera un edif. Tan historico e importante para La historia del Istmo, sus salas de exhibición hermosas y muy informativas, baños totalmente equipados y aseados impecables diria yo.

la atencion del personal que labora en el sitio muy amable y atento. Incluso los propios locales brindaron total amabilidad e informacion del sitio y como llegar a el.,

Renovado espacio en el pueblo de Potobelo.
El museo es pequeño pero cuenta la historia de los afropanameños con su cultura congo, asi como un vistazo al pasado de su época colonial.

Es un lugar muy agradable de conocer, en sus muros se encuentra parte de la historia que toda persona que llega aquí debe saber.
Ir a Portobelo es obligatorio ir a este museo.

El edificio fue restaurado y reinaugurado a mediados de 2023. Con nuevo contenido museográfico y mejores facilidades.

Es sin lugar a dudas uno de los lugares más emblemáticos de ésta comunidad, la historia que guarda en sus paredes son el testimonio vivo de grandes acontecimientos que allí se desarrollaron

Museo pequeño pero interesante con un recorrido virtual muy completo de la historia del puerto y Panamá.
