Portobelo Tour

Me and my boyfriend took the kayak + hiking + snorkeling tour and we loved it. Francesco was super friendly and taught us how to row properly, while Dario was our very knowledgeable tour guide, offering us history, as well as showing us names of plants and animals around. Kayaking through the mangroves was quite the experience, peaceful and visually impressive. We got to see and hear howling monkeys during our hike before we got to the beach. I highly recommend Panamore, they have clearly done their research well and are happy to share it. I also recommend their restaurant Casa Vela, the food is delicious and fresh. The dessert was delicious too.

I did a tour in Portobelo with Francesco last year. The environment was very relaxed. Lot of nature around. Beautiful sunset. I did kayak in the bay with a friend. Francesco was kind and gave us lot of historical information about Portobelo. He knows very well the region and he found us a nice sailboat to go to San Blas island. We did the kayak, hike, and snorkel tour and enjoyed every minute of it! Francesco is so knowledgeable on the history of Portabelo as well as the plants and animals of the area. He also has a great connection with a property owner in the area to take you to an awesome remote location to snorkel. This tour was definitely one of the highlights of our whole trip to Panama and we would recommend any nature lover to book this!

We went on a kayak / hike / snorkel and beach tour with Francesco and trusty Rita the puppy! The kayaking was nice and easy and gave us a great view of Portobelo. The hike was tough as it had just rained, but we were provided boots to hike through the mangroves and muddy areas. Francesco pointed out various plants, trees, and animals/birds throughout the trek. Finally we reached our own private beach to snorkel and relax. It was a great trip and Francesco was full of knowledge of the history of this historic town!

We had a great time doing the three activity tour with Francesco. He was very knowledgeable about the local history and wildlife. Kayaking through the tunnel of mangroves was a highlight. During the hike, we learned a lot about the different plants and tasted some wild fruits straight from the trees. We watched coconuts get harvested and drank the coconut water. The water was warm for snorkeling. Definitely bring your water shoes to walk through the shallows, and tall socks to wear with the rubber boots in the mangroves. It was a great variety of activities and Francesco was very accommodating. My dog had a blast with his dog too!

Francesco is the real deal, very knowledgeable about the history of the area, personable and a generous tour guide. We went snorkeling and exploring the wildlife and ecosystems along the coastline for the day. We went to 3 beaches and had a wonderful time. Would do it again!

We did the kayak hike snorkel tour and it was such a great start to our trip in Panama, we are so glad we came to Portobelo and did this tour! Francesco is very knowledgable about the town and gave us a very interesting history of Portobelo. The kayaking through the mangroves was really cool and during the hike we saw lots animals (monkeys, frogs, crabs) and Francesco told us a lot of information about different plants in the rainforest. We ended up at a beautiful secluded beach - we were the only ones there the whole time - where we snorkelled and saw many beautiful fish, and ate coconuts from the trees before getting a boat back to town. Highly recommend to everyone visiting Portobelo, you will not regret doing this tour!

We contacted Francesco with no notice and luckily he was able to accommodate us. We had a great experience in the Portobelo Bay visiting the ruins of the fortifications, with Francesco providing the history of this really significant bay in the history of the world between 1500-1650 when pirates, explorers and privateers, especially Captain Henry Morgan flight over the seas near the connection point between the Atlantic and Pacific.

Francesco can provide kayaking, hiking, tours of the mangroves and all in one tour if you want. Do contact him a few days in advance! His style and storytelling is super chill. He's from Italy and also speaks Spanish, Portuguese, French and English. As an anthropologist, he loves talking and teaching.

And make sure at the end of your tour you have lunch at Francesco's Italian restaurant (Casa Vela) located right on the bay. The pasta and pizza recipes come right from his mom's home in southern Italy and are are so delicious in a beautiful, casual atmosphere. Prices are good, but expect to wait awhile for your food.

We had a wonderful day kayaking, hiking, snorkeling and learning. Francesco is a well of knowledge and very passionate about nature, conservation, and the history of Portobelo and surrounding area. A true 5 star experience and we made a good friend along the way! Thank you Francesco!

Fracesco is an amazing your guide! We thought we were getting a simple boat ride - but no! Francesco gave us a royal tour of Portobello filled with amazing stories and knowledge. The snorkeling locations were wonderful - the hospitality was amazing.

We did the kayaking tour with Francesco, a very nice, enthousiast and energetic man who’s guiding de tour. We went to a beautiful beach where we could snorkel and swim. I recommend it to everyone to do a tour like this!

Francesco provided us with the most magical experience! In addition to bringing us through the mangroves and rainforest to a beautiful secluded beach, he was knowledgeable about the local wildlife, culture, and history.
