Hotel Shanker Kathmandu

After a long research have done this hotel for our 3N/2D stay in Jan-24. I must say the location is amazing as it's not like tiny hotels in thamel, bigger compound, nice lawn and heritage property.
Rooms size are adequate, can't suitable for extra mattress
Breakfast was ok as they don't have much options to explore
Bonus tip: they exchnage INR currency without any commission for residential guest.
Staff is very humble, proactive and educated.

It is an old world elegance, this is what the management says. The palace is turned into a luxury hotel by one of the owners. This palace was constructed by the mighty Ranas of Nepal. The building was renovated to suit the needs of a hotel. In front of the hotel there is a huge park and a swimming pool. The rooms are well furnished and very nice. Since it was a palace, the size of the rooms couldn't be increased. As a result bath room is not big. Also because of this reason there is no outside view. Food is good but it is not of local taste. Some of the cuisines are really tasty. Staff is courteous and helpful. Tariff is not very high. Location is absolutely amazing.

Located near attractions such as the Thamel district and Durbar Square, Hotel Shanker is a luxury hotel with great accomodations. The complimentary breakfast rivals Western standalone restaurants. The staff was friendly and made extra efforts to please. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. The pool area was relaxing with a full complement of food and beverage options. The in-house spa received high marks from my travel companions. Highly recommended.

Perfect place to celebrate all events with reasonable price and excellent costumer service. Highly recommended.

Every thing and all staff is very nice and caring. The breakfast is delicious and menu too good.

Hotel Shanker is a Palace converted into a hotel and retains the old world charm of being a palace.
The palace is right next to the Kings palace and the Thamel shopping district so excellent location too

What an ambience Hotel Shaker had got and I appreciate their services. I think this is the best hotel to fell the vibes of Nepalese royalty.

Absolutely amazing facility in very convenient location with easy access to City Centre and excellent in-house facilities especially the spa massage the rooms are excellent and we have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to potential visitors

Such a lovely and historical place. The service was impeccable. The gardens and pools was lovely and every space at Hotel Shankar is worth a stroll.

Lovely staff in the pool and in the restaurant...kind and always willing to help tourists. Great food in the restaurant. Pool was perfect for hot days.

The hotel property has an aesthetic appeal with modern and contemporary amenities blended intricately. The staff is very cheerful and helpful catering to all your needs promptly. The location provides easy access to all the major tourist attractions Highly recommended for all.

Truly an experience of Royalty. Location, ambience, cleanliness was awesome. Though the food was just average. Summer breakfast was not great, also for vegetarians there were very few options. Even the pool had salty water which was not good for health.

Located at Central Kathmandu, its an ancient Rana palace converted to Hotel offering all the facilities you need.

Very good high end hotel, it has it all,
History, great location, garden, pool,
Luxurious room, renovated fairly recently.
The staff are pleasant and helpful with the possible exception of the reception,
Who seem out of their depth in the hospitality sector and out of keeping with the rest of the hotel.
Would stay here again and would highly recommend

Now after Corona tragic period, they have good time to renovate the hotel for first class . I really recommend for the stay but FOOD AND MEAL, this hotel still have to improve in this hot summer season.
Waiter is working hard and captain and restaurant manager had no intention to talk with guest. The were busy to gussif regarding their own homeland political issues and watching YouTube.

Stayed here again this time after seven years. They did some nice renovation work. They kept the charm of the century old palace, yet, put the modern luxury and comfort. The breakfast was fabulous as well. They need to put more local options in lunch and diner menu.
