From the moment we arrived and we’re met at the airport we received outstanding service. The staff and manager of the hotel were friendly, efficient and professional. We stayed at the hotel three times during our trip and each time were warmly welcomed back and accommodated. This hotel is a quiet oasis a stones throw from the Thamel bustle. Ideal for international travellers as their first experience of Kathmandu. Highly recommend.

This hotel was a great choice for my time in Kathmandu. I initially came for a 5-day stay before heading out of the city, but I enjoyed it enough to re-book for several more days when I returned. The rooms and hallways have a nice, authentic Newari feeling to them. And there is a spacious outdoor courtyard where you can eat, read, or just relax. The hotel is family-run and the staff are very friendly, and can help advise about local events and activities. One very convenient service they provide is calling taxis at a fair price, so you don't need to negotiate with drivers on the street as a tourist. The location is great, being close to Thamel but just far enough outside that there's not too much noise at night, and there are some less-touristy businesses with lower prices in the immediate neighborhood of the hotel.

Had a great stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, helping me get things sorted that I couldn't have managed by myself, all of it making the trip easier. Special shout out to Amir and Puskar, really great service. I was able to store my things while I went trekking, and the location is convenient to Thamel without being chaotic.

This place is absolutely incredible. I have been coming back here for years now. The hotel is beautiful and the service is incredible. The people are wonderful and so helpful in every possible way. I also appreciate the location very much because it is on a very quiet street, but it is also near and you can easily walk to the famous Kathmandu Durbar square, as well as the lively, very touristy Thamel area for shopping and restaurants. I am so very grateful every time I am able to return to Kathmandu and stay again here at this remarkable hotel! Thank you so much.

I had a wonderful stay here. The room was quiet the bed was comfy the complementary breakfast was delicious, with very generous portions. All the staff were helpful and friendly and even provided a yoga mat for my room upon request. Also the room had very reliable hot water, which was lovely, after three weeks of trekking! The view from the terrace is also beautiful at sunset. Would highly recommend Hotel Ganesh Himal! Sophie, UK.

A sanctuary in the city. Beautiful courtyard in the centre of the hotel creates a peaceful garden, away from the hustle of the city. The staff are warm and helpful, they really go out of their way to support you. The hotel is tastefully decorated with beautiful pieces of art at every turn - you can tell it has been given a lot of love over the years. The food is generous, tea is great and the sleep is also. The rooms are spacious and cool, a tranquil vibe. Cant say enough, the value is fantastic. I stayed longer than planned …and returned again after travelling in Nepal. Thank you so much Ganesh Himal :)

We were very satisfied with our stay at Ganesh Himal. We were looking for a quiet place to relax and found exactly that as it is perfectly located in a quiet street between Thamel and Durbar Square, both in easy walking distance. It is a classical hotel with all the expected amenities like a good quality furniture, nicely painted and well thought out rooms and beautifully decorated reception area with free drinking water refill. The hotel consists of two separate buildings which are both facing the same tranquil garden where you can have your breakfast or any other meal from the good restaurant service. Only the most expensive room have a private balcony but the main building has very cosy communal areas to chill on every floor as well as a rooftop to sunbath, do yoga or enjoy the views up to Swayambhu (Monkey) Temple and Kathmandu. The hotel has 4-5 different room categories, which are all worth to check out to find your ideal place to stay. The staff people of the hotel couldn't have been more friendly and helpful and I genuinely enjoyed every encounter with them. There is also a tour company office at the reception. The hotel is very safe, the gate gets locked at night and there is always somebody to let you in and out. I would definitely come back here anytime and are grateful for our stay.

The room was clean and staff super lovely! The best hotel i have been in, in kathmandu. I was able to change my room for a bathtub. The manager gave me a super good price for it too since i didnt book a room with a tub. The garden is super lovely and the location is very nice. Its in the middle of thamel and thamel (kathmandu in general) is very noisy. But sitting here in the garden its very peaceful and exactly what i needed when being around in kathmandu:) if u know you know. I’ll be definitely back!

There is seemingly infinite places to stay in Kathmandu; but this hotel is a Nepali gem that speaks for itself. Ascetic and overall vibe- off the charts. Every wall is covered with gorgeous paintings, and breathtaking art that all bring Nepali culture to life. Close proximity to whatever you could possibly want to do, be it trekking or sightseeing. Services include mouth watering room service, and fresh breakfast everyday. Lastly, the factor that sets this home away from home apart; the customer service. You’re treated like family, and every conceivable effort to ensure a pleasant stay is not only provided, but anticipated. Gorgeous views, great food, spend a night here, you’ll understand.

Quaint hotel with friendly staff having a wonderful old-world charm with its beautiful paintings and woodwork décor. The room was spacious and clean. Large comfortable bed.

It is a short walk from the busy, touristy Thamel Street, yet away from the noise.

The restaurant served delicious food too.

CON: Hotel does not have a elevator.

The hotel is located in a quiet side street and has a nice courtyard to relax. But what I liked best were the rooms in the typical Newari style. The staff was always friendly and accommodating. However, there was no free airport pickup (as stated in my guidebook).

Great property, close to Thamel and 900 mts from Darbur sq. Amazing staff, outside open space, heater, warm AC/water, great food , bonfire, what else we could have asked for in chilling Kathmandu winter. Sushbin literally runs the place, everyone else is also makes sure all the needs are met. Thanks Ganesh himal for making it memorable 3 nights of our life.

Stayed here multiple times. A great oasis in the middle of the crazy city. The garden is beautiful and one of the only true quiet places you will find within Kathmandu.

One of the nicer things about the hotel is that it is not in the center of the Thamel craziness. Rather, it's just a couple minutes outside where it is a bit quieter. The staff at the hotel was nothing but pleasant and helpful. The view from the roof, on a clear day, is stunning and gives you a different perspective of the city. It is a budget hotel, but one of the nicer budget hotels I've stayed at!
