Gurung's Home

I had a very nice experience at Gurungs Home! I was looking for a hostel a bit on the edge of the center (tamel) and this was the ideal location. 15 minutes walk to Tamel.
It is a very clean, calm hostel with a super friendly staff. They were always there to help me if I had a question about Kathmandu, transport, etc. The breakfast (included)/food/tea was also very good and for a cheap price. The room was clean and equipped with everything I needed. And a shower with nice hot water!
If you are looking for a not too big, nice hostel, where you can also meet other friendly travelers, then this is ideal! I will definitely come back here when I visit Kathmandu.

The room/bathroom were really clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Great breakfasts, and a really cozy place overall. It's quite close to the city centre/Thamel, a 15-20 min. walk. Though the area has a lot of stray dogs in the late evening, so probably not the best for walking back home after 10pm.

Santosh is sooooo energetic and flexible to help & solve every request ! The atmosphere & environment is great, homely-like and acceptable to choose in a quite safe, neighborhoods. It’s definitely be one of the great accommodations to pick !
Btw, there is no problem to communicate in English & Japanese !

Santosh not only a great efficient and attentive manager but just a great human. I became very sick for a short time after a trek and he really went out of his way to look out for me. Very cozy, welcoming social vibe at the guesthouse and close enough to walk to Thamel but far enough away to enjoy some peace. Highly recommend

Gurung’s Home feels like home. It’s a pleasant reprieve from the bustling streets of Kathmandu, but still accessible to all that the city has to offer. Everyone here has been extremely friendly and accommodating. My room was clean and comfortable and the mattress is soft and cozy. Also, the food from their kitchen is tasty. I will definitely stay here again the next time I return to Nepal. Namaste 🙏🏼

While Visiting Nepal I stayed here with my family the service,staffs,the owner gurung was too humble and kind. The Room was too clean. Location is too best natural vibes with birds chirping and many more. All Good There are no Things To Be Complained. I Would like everyone to visit here for good hospitality and service many more.😊

I enjoyed myself very much. Everyone who worked there was very nice and I felt at home. They provide very good service. The rooms are very nice and clean. The food is very good too. And the location. I will come back next time I come to Nepal 🥰🙏

We felt glad as soon as we landed here. Beautiful space and ambience, a green and quiet oasis in Kathmandu. Santosh and team are very helpful and forthcoming with friendly open chats. Learnt a lot. We had the deluxe room and loved the sun in the morning on the balcony to warm up. Exceptionally clean throughout, comfy bed and toasty hot water shower. There is a filling veggie breakfast, free water and yummy meals on demand. They organised us an airport taxi and bus to Pokarah, even a lemon honey tea when getting run down. We look forward to staying again.

The location is beautifully decorated, and close to thamel by walking but also very quiet. The rooms are very comfy with good beds and toilets, and the staff are so friendly and helpful - even waking up at 4am for us when we had to leave early! The food is also very good! I left my bag here while trekking as well which was very helpful.

For being in the centre of Kathmandu it’s so quiet and peaceful! Away from road noise, also very green and alive. Great hosts, that are funny and very welcoming. Also very good beds and washrooms. Stay in both the dorm and family room also left my luggage here while i did a 7 day trek! A huge gem in Kathmandu

Great hostel with nice people running it. The private rooms are spatious and clean and the beds are super comfortable.
Close to Thamel touristic hub but in a neighborhood where you can still enjoy the local vibe.
Breakfast is also of good value.

Very nice hostel with nice staff ! The welcome tea is a pleasure and the room is very comfy. Outside is great! We stayed one week and had a great time.

The people were very friendly and we had a good time! The hostel is near the centrum but also realy calm. We would come again!

Best hostel I've been in a long time. Close to Thamel and also monkey temple and Buddha park. Good food, great staff, price is cheap for the dorm and the double rooms are exceptional, reasonable price for sharing but a bit expensive for solo backpackers.

A green oasis at 15min walking distance from Thamel, friendly staff and owner, comfortable rooms and beds, chill and relaxing place that I recommend 👌

Having a great experience in Gurung’s Home. The owner and staff here are friendly and helpful. The environment here is nice. The food here are great too. Although it’s a bit distant from the Thamel, it’s quiet and safe.

Really nice place - you should stay here. Really lovely service, nice beds, nice bathroom and good food. It’s a quiet area, so next to thamel, but you can have a comfortable spot here and chill from the outside stress.

I really enjoyed my stay here even though it was only for 1 night. The staff were so helpful and kind and helped me to break open my backpack when I accidentally locked it (and changed the code). Would recommend to all, if you want somewhere to feel at home and comfortable while in Kathmandu
