It's a really nice restaurant in Leiden! We were a big party and had to make reservations ahead of time. The service staff were really nice and attentive throughout our meal, and we had a good time.

For starters we tried the smoked salmon (€12.5), dry-aged entrecote with crab salad (€12), fennel ceviche (€10), Dutch mozzarella with roasted grapes (€11) as well as the bread with olive oil (€6). And if we had to choose just one, the majority of us would recommend the Dutch mozzarella because it was a good mix of savoury and sweet. It was appetising and definitely a good one to start the meal with.

For the mains, we tried the beef of the day, the pork belly(€23), polenta cake(€19.5) and sea bass(€23). Folks enjoyed the roast beef, but i personally liked the pork belly, which had a good ratio of fat to meat. It was well-cooked and the meat was like melting in my mouth. The polenta cake is a very good vegetarian option, but im not sure if it was vegan. All our mains came with fries which was nice.

Hey, looking for a great, cozy, and delicious restaurant at 8pm on a Saturday night and you forgot to make a reservation? Give this place a go. The menu is small because every dish is unique and prepared with care. The portions are huge- they even give a basket of fries with the entree which I barely touched even through they were really tasty because my entree was more than enough. Highly recommend the burrata appetizer (it's so refreshing and flavorful!) and the ribeye (served perfectly medium rare). The prices are very reasonable, too (18-22€ per entree)

Honestly we tried to make a reservation for a Saturday night day off and called 8-10 different restaurants in the center- they were all completely booked! This was the only restaurant available, and completely worth getting out of the city center. I would even recommend going for drinks on a date night- they have a lovely fireplace and couches.

Very nice place in an old flour-factory; along the cycling path to De Kaag; excellent food!

Had a great outdoor dining with our dog. We got the brod, kaascroquette and a polenta cake. Fries were tasty. Recommend the farmers milk icecream. Great veggie meal options.

Wonderful place. Great ambiance, very friendly staff. Dishes are presented in a beautiful way, taste is perfect. Fresh ingredients and good portions. When ingredients are run out, a good alternative is proposed. Will definitely get back here!

Good food, wonderful service! We gave a wedding party for 60 people there today and could not have been more pleased. Everyone was complimenting the food. A good time was had by all!

Great venue. The food is good and the place have a very pleasant outside terrasse /garden. You can even privatise the small garden house for BBQ parties which feels like home.

Couldn't ask for a more pleasant and relaxing venue by the Zijl. Cosy gardens outside to relax and eat by the herbs, vegetables and berries growing in their garden, and inside a warm log fire awaits in the dining room. The service is most pleasant, warm and professional, and the food first rate. The beer is good (except also serving Heineken in such a good restaurant is out of place) ) and they are dog friendly too which is a real plus.

Delicious food and very attentive, friendly staff. Nice location too. I had a three course menu and was positively surprised by the quality for its price. 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
