Brouwcafé De Hofnar

Visited this place on a nice sunny afternoon and waa great to unwind over a few local brews. Gets quite crowded especially in summers but still better than the restaurants along the marina both in terms of price and service.

A lovely local bar and old brewery located in the 1st Visserhaven in Scheveningen. You have view over the harbour and its boats and can sit both in- or outdoor. The place is wuite authentic and has a good variety of beers (even the local Scheveningen beer). Friendly staff, fast service and reasonable prices.

Love this place, it's in the Harbour in Schevinging in The Hague, used to live over there and was over there for a quick away. Great bar/restaurant, they have their own Brewery, fantastic location in the harbour amongst many other great places but this was always a favourite.

You'll be in for a very, very pleasant surprise if you visit Het Brouwcafé for the first time.

The bar itself and the staff are uniquely authentic. The staff won't surprise you. That is, until they serve your diner ...

This kitchen is secretly one of the best in the country!
The dozens of times I ate here, with friends, colleagues or family, the meat has always been perfectly cooked, tender and with rich flavours. The homemade sauces are well balanced, the fish and vegetables fresh. Even the vegetarian meals are a special treat and often chosen by meat lovers for a change and for being that good.
Never once did I witness a dish being send back. That says a lot.

The best part is that the chef is immensely modest or doesn't know how good he is. The average meal only costs € 16, ranging from € 12 to € 22 I believe. Trust me, prices are unbelievable for the quality they serve. You have to love that!

The place is clean, the staff works hard and almost always manages to keep up with everyones drinking pace. The waitresses and waiters are well informed, friendly, helpful and you'll notice they have real smiles, versus the many fake smiles you'll find in other bars and restaurants. Maybe it's because no one bosses them around, allowing them to joke a lot and act less submissive, giving Het Brouwcafé it's refreshing authenticity and ability to make you feel very welcome.

Altogether, if you want to enjoy a good diner (and/or good drinks) in Scheveningen, The Hague, without having to wear either a suit or slippers to fit in and for a fair price, I'd recommend Het Brouwcafé.

PS: Making reservations could be smart on sunny days and during weekends.

Nice bustling place by the water with live music (at least on the weekends). The staff was very nice and the outdoors heaters helped quite a bit. I went by myself, but a nice place with large or small groups.

Tasty beer, brewed on the premises (respect to the brewer for brewing within the bar/restaurant area and not wrecking it!). The home-brewed beer and the food compliment each other well.
The food is very tasty, good flavour. My 'Eager Beeaver' fish-of-the-day dish was delicious. White fish complimented with tiny brown shrimps, the kind I catch myself with a shrimping net at home and much more tasty than prawns (respect to the person who peeled them all!).
From tonight, my favourite haunt in Den Haag. Come here, enjoy the beer and food... Cheers!

A very nice, cozy and modern brouwcafe at the harbour of Scheveningen. The highlight of the place is the great beer selection, both on tap and bottled. One can try the Scheveninger beers on tap, produced locally by the Scheveningen microbrewery. Really special is the Scheveninger Herfstbock (seasonal beer). Finger food (bitterballen, kaassouffle etc) is also very good. The seating area is modern and spacious having both stools and chairs and overlooks the harbour.

I found this cafe from the website of the Dutch Beer Week. It's a nice place with a good view of the harbor, and very good sunshine. I tried the Blontje, Scheveningse Tripel and Dubbel brewed by the cafe and they were interesting beers. The food was also good. A very pleasant experience.

fine food, great beer (I really like the Scheveningse beer!!), beatiful view on the harbour - just the service could be a little bit more „asking“..
(Nevertheless: whenever you ask you get everything quite fast!!)
