Curries and Candles

It was great to visit this small place with great atmosphere and food. The owner Ruchi served food nicely and at the end she once again asked like a family member if my stomach was full and if not she said she can serve again and also said that her customers should not go without stomach full of eating here😊 it was like someone asking at home. It was nice experience.

They should work a bit on improving quality of food as the curry didn't seem like fully fresh. Also, the price was little high. Otherwise, it was nice atmosphere, hospitality was good, Ruchi spoke in Hindi, she played Indian songs, she was very humble and what not...I felt like being at home for sometime in Netherlands 😊

Also, the way she treated the customers was awesome, she spoke with Indians in Hindi/English and immediately switched to Dutch when speaking with local customers..she has a good skill in managing customers..

A must visit place in Gouda, The Netherlands !!

It was the best Indian Experience we ever had outside India! ❤ Not only the food was amazing, the owner/chef she is an amazing host… we felt like home :) The vibe of the place was like with one step we entered India!! She does everything with immense passion, curries and candles both :)

Very small and cozy place where a lovely Indian girl prepares delicious home made meals. Great price for very nice food.

What a pleasant surprise! Hardly recognizable as a restaurant, but that just added to the experience. Simple vegetarian menu, but everything is fresh, home cooked, genuine Indian street food. Best paratha's I had in years, and the Puri bread was a surprise that I had not tasted before in this way.

A small place with a big heart. Ruchi is a wonderful host and her food is excellent! Although this is homemade, the taste is something that can give any other curry house a run for their money.

We had a rice meal, a bread meal, Aloo Paratha, and Chai. We opted for the chickpeas, and the paneer with spinach curries.

Ruchi is an amazing person to have met. I have never experienced such freshly prepared and served Indian food in a restaurant outside India. The place is very small and cozy but the food is fantastic! Loved it!

We were here right before closing, I saw this little restaurant on the Happycow app, being one of the few fully vegetarian restaurants around. The combination of traditional Dutch candleshop with Indian stuff and restaurant is a bit weird at first, but it gives this place tremendous charm. The food was absolutely amazing, phenomenal curry, awesome flatbreads. The owner/chef is really enthusiastic and generally a nice person. We would definitely go here again!

This tiny shop is often overlooked by shoppers in Gouda. At a first glance you know it is a shop that sells candles and then you see a menu advertising vegetarian curries and rotis.... As you enter the shop, you enter into a very different world far removed from the rest of Gouda. The host is a very charming lady who does her best to please her guests. The idea of introducing curries was implemented during corona to help boost the business profile. I settled for the full meal takeaway which consisted of bread of your choice, rice, potato, curry and chutney. You could choose how spicy you wished your curry to be. Well coming from South Africa. I decided on the red bean curry with rice and the hottest chili added. Wow at last I could devour a delicious lekker hot curry! Definitely coming back to try another dish ;-)

Looks like a candle store from the outside, but you can also get amazing Indian food here. If you want takeaway use whatsapp to get the menu of the day and order. Very tasty vegetarian/vegan options at a good price, and spiciness can be adjusted to your liking. I predict I'll come back often :)

Cozy little place in the center of Gouda. The food was really tasty and we even got a chai tea on the house! The whole place is managed by one lovely lady so you know everything is made fresh and by hand :) Definitely recommend!

Looking for good vegetarian food in Gouda ? This is an excellent place to be. Easy to pass by just walking down the street, but that would be missed opportunity to enjoy the deep flavors of India.

The great thing about this place is that you could always trust that you are having an authentic Indian meal, wrapped in spices, deliciousness and goodness! Highly recommend the Wraps for lunch or dinner.

Very nice lady who runs a curry shop for takaway and little restaurant. had a really nice meal (lunch) with good flavours and chai tea. Good conversation and beautiful candles. Go on girl!!
