The jailers house is fantastic. Great coffee, friendly staff, and a historic building with a gorgeous terrace and view. The second best apple tart in Leiden imho, but amazing nonetheless. There is stiff competition here on that front, but it's really good. They have hot food too but I've never tried it. Awesome cafe and it's fun trying to say the name.

You walk out of Leiden Central into a bustling little town. You walk through a crowded plaza, and eventually find this quiet cafe. I can't say enough. The sandwich was perfect for a fueling before a bike-ride to Lisse. The coffee was great.

I AM IN LOVE!! The food is amazing, as well as the staff! The music is also top notch and the food in an other dimension! If I lived here this would definitely be a place I would visit as often as I could!

Lovely quiet (no muzak) coffee house in old Leiden, good coffee, best chocolate brownie I can remember, quirky seating arrangements using pews, old chairs, bar stools, and a deli through a doorway.
Very accommodating too, as they made a Gluten free birthday cake specially for us, the only place in Leiden I could find willing and able to do so. The lady who made the cake even provided candles and whipped cream for us!! 😊

My plan is to keep on visiting this café until I will be able to pronounce its name correctly! Oh.. yes! Also because it is so f@%& amazing!

The standard cafe I take someone who sees Leiden for the first time. Apart from the historic building and neighbourhood, the coziness of the cafe, and the great service; it is the APPLE PIE or apple taart that is worth it. Bare in mind the cafe accepts cash only

Cozy, but with plenty of space outside on a good day. The coffee there is delicious and the same goes for their bakings. I would recommend the Walnut, apricot, chocolate cake! It's delicious! And to top off, the people who work there are very kind. Mind you, you have to order inside.

Great place to take a breather and have a good cup of coffee. Relaxed and tranquil atmosphere, sitting on the terrace outside immediately gives that vacation feeling. Taking refuge inside if it rains is nice and tranquil too. Nice, no pretense staff.

So far this has been one of the best cappuccinos I've had in Leiden. Creamiest milk ever! There's never a line here and usually only a couple of locals sitting inside or catching a bit of mid morning sun. BONUS: if you get there before 10:30am on a weekday all coffee is only €1 👍🏼

We visit almost every weekend for a coffee and small lunch and love this place. Great service and amazing products to choose from. The coffee is perfect and it is such a nice and peaceful place in one of the busiest parks in the city. I love it.

Lovely little place in the old town. Cobbled streets and a great atmosphere. The coffee is good, but the 1EUR price is only until 9:30am.. not 10:30 :)

Both cake and coffee were tasty and the service was really friendly. Also situated in a spot that isn’t super busy which was nice and relaxing.

Super gezellig café just across from the historic Fairsorrow Square at Gravensteen, now part of Leiden University law school. Strong internet and stronger coffee, friendly staff and quiet atmosphere for reading or working or discussing the finer points of classical philosophy.
