Never have I spent so much money in a book store & not regretted it. The place is adorable. It has really old copies, like first editions, of books too which are very pricey but great quality.

Fantastic place. Good prices. All sorts of books. Plenty of english-written literature. New and second-hand books. Bestsellers and classics. Warm staff.

Highlight: an entire section of Science Fiction which gets refilled every once in a while with the best that's out there. They constantly purchase new copies from the Science Fiction Masterworks editions.

Highly recommended. They have massive interesting collections for English books, both new and second hand. The arrangement is also very neat yet cozy, very inviting to take your time looking slowly.

I highly recommend stopping by this bookstore. At first glance, it seems quite small, but as you move past the narrow entrance corridor, you find yourself in a large space reminiscent of a living room. Here, you can sit down and read a short excerpt from the book you're considering purchasing. The background music adds to the pleasant and relaxing atmosphere.

It's been a long time since I found a bookstore in the Netherlands that has a decent choice of English books.
Mayflower brings that to a new level! So many choices, so many genres!
Well worth a trip to Leiden, I loved it!

A heaven for book lovers!

This is definitely my favourite bookshop in Leiden. Lots of great books, both fiction and non-fiction. Nice to have such a wide selection of English language books.

Words cannot describe in so many words this magestical book museum! They say it's just store, but I don't believe them. It's a museum! Took the kids there for some inspiration I'm not much of a reader myself, but this place sure made me feel like starting. It was hard to keep the kids quiet so I had to retreat. Will definitely return. Thank you.

An absolute dream of a book store. New and used books, almost all in English with a small international selection of German and French books. They go through all styles and time periods and found 30-40 year old classics and interesting new novels. We bought as much as we could carry...

Friendly and v helpful staff. Efficient on WhatsApp, too. Events plays.. its a happening place.

this is an awesome little bookstore with a wide and very pleasant variety of english books. some pretty decent prices and an eloquent atmosphere.

personally, i saw books that i know and love and also discovered some gems that i’ve never seen before.

all in all, would totally recommend at least checking out- you could absolutely find something a nice book.

By far the most interesting bookshop I have ever been to, and one that has some of the most splendid array of books in the English language. Ended up buying six books after less than 20 minutes of walking through the threshold. I just couldn’t take being around so many fascinating books for so long, awesomeness overload was about to wipe me out.

The blond young gentleman behind the counter was most kind as well.

Supercute book store with too many books to shelve, so you'll find books piled up on tables, on the floor, behind things. It has a big collection of English books, including a lot of classics. Dutch books aren't lacking either. The sphere of an old bookstore combined with new and fresh looking books. The ideal combination!

Really nice place to buy books in english. used to go to the American book center in the Hague, but this place is much better, huge collection of any genre you can think of!

Just walk passed this place after living in Leiden for two years and can't believe i didn't know about it. Because corona you have to make an appointment to go inside but can order books from the front door or via WhatsApp/website for pickup. The range of books inside looks fantastic and cannot wait to browse when restrictions are lifted property i could spend hours in the place. I really missed english language bookshops.
