We had a wonderful experience at the Royal Delft. The galleries were well organized and portrayed a good variety of pieces, and we could also walk through the factory and watch pieces being made. I highly recommend the audio guide for an improved experience, it was super easy to use and it really helped us better understand what we were looking at. The museum shop was also super cute and the cafe was a nice place to stop afterwards. We went during the week, so we didn’t get tickets in advance… Not sure how busy it gets on weekends!

This museum is where the heart and hard work of Delft blue. It showcases the history, the process, the intricacy of the craftsmanship and the pride of the masterworks here. They also hold regular workshops for adults and kids so always check their calendar before you decide to pay a visit. Normally I don't recommend people to get souvenirs at museum stores but they have some real nice handmade Delft pieces that you can take home to display the excellence of Delft work.

Great museum showing the art of making Dutch Delft Blue porcelain!

There are audiotours available and sometimes even a guide for groups!

The museum is not very big so you can see everything within 1,5hrs.

There is also a small restaurant where you can eat/drink something.

Feb 2024. The Picasso ceramics exhibition is on. The curated pieces are a fair representation of his ceramics work and are well displayed. This exhibition does not detract from the stunning pieces of traditional and modern Delft ware, tiles etc available for viewing. Beautiful examples of the various techniques used in the development of product lines. There is also a display of the Delftware for the Dutch royal family. There is a multi language audio tour available. The exhibits are labelled in both Dutch and English. There were also 2 employees showing how Delft is produced and painting techniques. If you drive, there is on street parking across the road and in the area and you must pay for that. I used the Seety app to pay for my parking.

This is the museum/shop where world famous bulge Delft ceramic objects are made. Another reason to pay a visit here is the temporary exhibition of pottery works created by Picasso. It is small but exceptional.
Highly recommended.

A gorgeous museum! It’s so nice to walk through the history of Royal Delft and observe how it’s changed over time. Later you walk through the production area and can observe how the artist hand paints the ceramics. One thing I wish I’d known is they accept the Museum Card so if you have one, you can save yourself around €18. Overall highly recommend visiting, I came to Delft on a rainy day so it was a perfect location to visit. Be careful at the gift shop, there’s so much gorgeous stuff you’ll want it all!

Beautiful delftwork, great historical information and interesting to watch the artists in person working their craft. We also did the tile painting workshop, and I highly recommend it. So fun!

The museum holds such a beautiful history of the famous Delftware. My group had fun visiting the workshop and seeing first hand how Delftware is created from start to finish.

Picasso art was also on display during our visit.

this museum is eye-opening, and it brings us back to 17th century when Europeans tried to produce Chinese chinaware in Europe.

It is worth visiting if you like pottery process and want to see the whole production process.
Traditional way of creating unique Delft Blue pieces. Really inspiring. Very interactive. Good to visit with children. Picasso collection at the end.

Very cool. I was worried it’d be all about old pots but it’s so much more than that.

For one, until the 1980s, building tile / architectural tile was a big business, and there’s a lot of interesting stuff on display that they did for industry.

For another, delftware isn’t just knock-off china with traditional designs. There were a lot of unconventional and modern vases and other pieces on display. There are also a ton of plates commemorating all kinds of offbeat historical events, like the Zuiderzee Works, a massive feat of civil engineering.

Lastly, you get to see people working on this stuff up close. It’s really immersive. Worth a trip.

Very nice museum that talks about the history and production of Royal blue Dutch pottery.
Excellent voice guided tour.

The museum is a part of functioning factory and workshop.

Talking about workshops, you can book a workshop experience for a fee and try making pottery decorations yourself.

The visit would take 30 minutes on average.

That’s probably one of the coolest and yet smallest museums ever. The tile workshop and the cafe of the museum only enhance the experience.

One of the place which you simply must visit in Delft. Whole history and progress of Delft blauw ceramics is contained here, with interactive movies and demonstration from factory how exactly is Delft ceramic made.

Great Museum (€9 students)!
Nicely done presentation of the history of the Factory, the process of creating and decorating a ceremic .
The walk through the factory part, to be able to see the workers in action is priceless.
Very impressive the level of details and skill required to produce every single object.

Absolutely beautiful place with so much history. Took the self tour be sure to watch the film show as it tells so many details. Walked through the factory just following the signs. In the end you’ll be in the the fabulous gift shop. I bought 4 Christmas ornaments, a couple of charms for my bracelet and a cheese slicer (always wanted one!!) and a collapsible bag to carry everything. Then we had high tea at the little cafe next to the gift shop (reservations were required did it online).
