Café De Plak

Wow! Just wow. This cafe is truly a gem and my favourite place I visited on my vacation to Europe. Amazing vibes, delicious vegan food and the friendliest staff. I came here everyday for coffee, drinks and lunch. I even talked to the staff about the Café’s rich history and its contribution to social justice movements. Incredible stuff and a place for everyone to enjoy. Definitely recommend stopping in here! 💙🤞🏽

Great food with many different and creative options, also vegan. They got a very nice atmosphere, great music and even board games. Very LGBTQ+ friendly, and even got things for kids to draw. I would say that this is a cafe for everyone.

We had a hard time finding a decent casual restaurant in the center of Nijmegen, until a staff member of Erica suggested de Plak. I'm glad we followed her advice as the food was original, fresh and very tasty. They use fresh ingredients, lots of greens, many vegan and vegetarian options besides fish and meat dishes, including specials. Friendly and efficient staff in a casual setting with tables close together. You really can't go wrong here. Timing is everything though. We arrived at 5:30pm and snatched the last table. You can wait your turn at the bar, or enjoy the patio, weather permitting.

Legendary place with a fantastic vegetarian menu. A bit noisy but worth it.

Really lovely spot. Small menu, reasonable prices, everything was super fresh. Had the lamb sausages off the daily blackboard special and Grolsch IPA. Just feels like an authentic neighborhood spot to be comfortable in. I’ll be back next time there’s a concert at the Doornroosje.

Really welcoming vibe, really good food! Had the lamb sausage with frites—sausage was cooked perfectly (not dry at all) and the frites were perfectly salted and just crispy enough (with plenty of soft potato center 😊). Lamb sausage plate came with curried peas/carrots/green beans, a salad with a beet dressing, and a radish salad. Tap beer was also perfect :)

I believe this is the oldest restaurant in the city, being in business for over 40 years. I come here about twice a month. The quality of the food is always very good, with lots of fresh vegetables on the side.

The place is not very big, so they're always packed full, especially in winter when there is no outside seating. Best advice, when you don't like to wait at the bar (even though that's perfectly normal and acceptable - and it's worth the wait), would be to arrive no later than 18h.

They serve meat, fish, vegetarian, and they even have 3 vegan dishes.

Quality of service is exceptional, friendly staff. It can be a bit hectic when it's very busy. The general atmosphere is informal and alternative.

I had a delicious, great value meal here. The veggie 'cheese ball' was so tasty!

Quaint restaurant with pleasant employees and even better food. We had some vegan cola from Hamburg, the Dutch specialty egg dish, and a bowl of tomato soup. All were very tasty, though the soup had an unexpected handful of mushrooms in it. They were quite large and easy to remove - I don't generally like mushrooms. The dishes all came with a side of homemade organic bread which was deliciously fluffy.

I love coming to this restaurant. The employees are very friendly and chatty and they really know the food and drinks on the menu. Besides that, the food is delicious! I would definitely recommend 'Kaasgehakt', their specialty. It sounds weird, looks weird, but it tastes so damn good.
Another plus is that it's a reasonably affordable place. You get a big plate of food for a small price tag.

I went with my family there and the food was astonishingly great. We had some nice home made burguers, but exotic at the same time.
The staff were so nice with us, they would just keep asking if everything was OK and if we were having a good time, but they would never be too intrusive, which is a good balance!
The location is very convenient, as we went to do some shopping straight away to the city center by walking.

Good food, great Vegetarian amd vegan options. A true Nijmeegs staple with it's 'kaasgehakt'. Also a really nice and safe and inclusive atmosphere

Good atmosphere and even better food. The service was excellent, everybody was very friendly and handled the crowd very well. It's a fairly crowded place but this gives it a very cozy atmosphere. And even though the place was completely full the service was very quick, the food came within 15 mins of ordering. The food was excellent and the salads, which are standard with every meal, were fairly big and very tasteful.
