It's more of an experience than a regular restaurant visit, and that's exactly what makes it so special. We had a 5-course menu. Each and every dish, including the "kitchen greeting," was simply phenomenal!

Definitely one of the best if not the best restaurant I've been to and I've been to many. Service quality at the highest level. Delicious food. Dishes that I wouldn't normally eat here tasted like my favorite dishes. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great. Incredible experience. Together with my wife we ​​were and still are delighted. We had a wonderful date. Thank you.❤❤❤

Wow, that was a superior experience! Superfriendly and informative staff that recommends an excellent choice of partly self imported wines. The dishes were a feast for the eye and offered complex tastes and structures without being posh or extravagant. The pairings with the wines were perfect. Thanks for all! Hope to come again!

There is no restaurant in Nijmegen to match this quality food. Staff is experienced, very well mannered and knowledgeable. I am a vegetarian and this chef really understands its customers expectations, the dishes not only looked stunning the flavours where exquisite. I highly recommend this restaurant. What a great restaurant. Great food and service. Wines were excellent and staff was friendly, informative, relaxed and above all very nice.

In terms of atmosphere, chairs could use an update and we were sitting in a temporary build tent construction, but it was well decorated so you felt sitting in the restaurant.

All and all, a must go in Nijmegen. Little bit pricy, but worth every penny!

High quality food and very friendly staff, offering a high level service. Variable amount of courses can be chosen, combined with a wide selection of wine, which is selected based on your preference. Quality of the dishes is very good, a lot of flavors and they also look beautiful. Decoration and atmosphere of the restaurant is beautiful and spacious, giving a luxurious and warm feeling. Definitely recommended!

Amazing experience for food and wine. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The food ist just amazing. We also liked the location, non-descript vom outside, tasteful interior.

Excellent food, wines that go with it excellently, and eminently friendly and funny waitstaff and service. Particularly charming about it is the wine list, refined way they serve very accessible ingredients. Absolutely worth your money and time.

Fantastic wines, lovely staff and out of this world food combinations. Best place I have ever eaten in Nijmegen. Make sure to visit the top floor wine store, a great Austrian selection!

January 2019: sometimes you want to update a review because things changed (maybe for the worse), but in this case I just want to stress that if it was possile to award a sixth star that would be exactly what I'do! The level of excellence is actualy improving, the finesse of the combinations is outstanding, and the wine pairings are still going strong!

I visited many restaurants in Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Monaco, the Nederlands, England, Switzerland, Austria, Spain and Portugal...and I can tell: De Portier is one of the best restaurants in Europe. Nice staff, best dishes and wines. It is worth to travel to Nijmegen to eat at De Portier, like I do every Christmas Eve.
