Bredius went to study Dutch 17th-century paintings. He visited collections, studied books and archives and became the expert of art.

He was also director of the Mauritshuis in The Hague for twenty years (1889-1909). During his appointment there, he purchased many works for both the museum and his private collection. He lent many of his own purchases to the museum.

His house and his personal collection is on display. It has art from Rembrandt and other famous Dutch painters. It is art that is quirky, unique and sometimes quite cheeky. It is art of high standard that you won't see in museums.

Go to this museum for the unusual art. It is a feast for your eyes! I highly recommend it. There is an audio tour for free with interesting facts and the people working there are friendly and helpful.

Another good spot in The Hague, full of art and history! It is breathtaking that you can stand just in front of some Rembrandt’s squetchs!

Museum Bredius is a hidden gem in The Hague! It’s a must-see! A beautiful collection of seventeenth century Dutch old master paintings (including Rembrandt, Jan Steen, Albert Cuyp) in an elegant house from the eighteenth century. It’s like you step back in time, a unique museum experience! I highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in famous Dutch old master painters and historical houses!

This is a museum that goes way beyond my expectation. Must-visit, if you are a fan of paintings and/or porcelains!

This little gem should no go unnoticed when you visit the Hague. You can find here some splendid Jan Steen paints and even Rembrandt. The museum is named after Abraham Bredius and is situated on the Lange Vijverberg in The Hague in a 18th-century Herenhuis interior with period furnishings.

The smaller nephew of the giant on the other side of the pond. The museum is located in an 18th century house with lots of details from that time left (don't forget the kitchen in the basement). The house hosts an interesting collection of 17th century Dutch art, including items by Rembrandt and Steen. Well worth a visit.

Small but very interesting museum of Dutch Masters works,

This museum holds a great collection of art in the condition as back when it was the collectors home. The works are as great as any you'd find in a more famous museum, so it's definitely worth going.
It can be seen in about 30 minutes.

A must-visit especially if you want a quite art experience. Staffs are also super nice and accommodating. I would definitely go back.
