This is a brilliant collection of a large number of Escher prints arranged with contemporary arts works that are inspired by, or similar in style or content to those of Escher.
The building beautifully complements the artworks with its baffling staircases.
There are also information panels discussing the life of the last Queen Regent to use the palace.
Excellent range of postcards in the gift shop too!

Even though there wasn’t a queue when we arrived I would still recommend buying tickets before hand as we were able to pretty much walk right in. There’s actually a lot to see in the museum and it provides an account of his history as well as other artists that have been influenced by his works. It took us about two hours to go through all the exhibits. We took our time take everything in so a speed run can be done in about an hour.

Definitely another museum on the list of 'must see' they have a really great audio guidebook for Esther's artwork and the building it is located in. I found both fascinating and switched between the two audio guidebooks as I moved through each room. So be sure to bring along your own headphones and be prepared to be inspired. It's still worth five stars even though I was there on a Friday with multiple noisy school groups around.

Life’s work of MC Escher very well curated exhibition with guided audio tour. Very fascinating to see his Lithography process explained & his art work with such a attention to detail. It was interesting to read about his life and places he lived which also inspired a lot of his work. The cycles of life , Metamorphosis, tessellations, some of his work is confusing and will make you think as viewer which was precisely this goal.

Incredible! I have visited place and saw these masterpiece works in 30 years after the first acquaintance with such art. Worth of seeing! Attractive and smart!

Fantastic collection of artwork and really interesting to see the development of Escher's work, from his early life until his passing.

Spending (half) an afternoon here is totally worth it!

I was pleasantly surprised to see a drawing of Steve Carell walking/dancing. They didn't mention it anywhere in the museum, but Escher must have been a big fan!

I loved how each room in this beautiful building had amazing chandeliers. The art of Escher is awesome and we were met by very friendly staff. Definitely worth the visit.

interesting museum, very nice and helpful staff - no crowds in November - a lot of people but you can spend enough time looking at interesting sculptures and works. Candelabras are especially beautiful 🤩
the museum is quite easy to navigate, we spent about 2 hours, it is worth visiting the restaurant as there are photographs there

What an amazing museum to visit. Small, simple, easy to follow, great guidance, friendly staff and amazing art work. One of the greatest painters in my opinion, paintings with expression and food for thought.
The museum itself is a palace and this makes it even more extraordinary to visit. The price is €11,50 for adults and cheaper for youth and children.
I would recommend to buy your tickets in advance as there may be a half hour of waiting line outside the museum.

Great visit, you can spend 2 hours or more in there easily. Each room is well presented and I found it clever to use more artists for the decor, like the chandeliers, in each room there is one with a different shape. I booked beforehand, but you could go and get the tickets at the desk with no issue. For kids there is a scavenger hunt activity, adults can go for it as well. It is available in English, Dutch, and I think in German.

Going to this museum was a dream come true. Escher takes you to another level of perception and existence. Every time I go back to the Netherlands I will surely visit the museum.

Loved this exhibition. Plenty to do and also partake in. Lockers downstairs to put away your bags. Park area outside often with a fair taking place. Nice vibe, lovely building and architecture. Little giftshop. Very chilled.

This collection assembles the great work of the master MC Escher and tells his history, giving a detailed and deep view of their life and work.
Het Paleis is also an astonishing building and convert it into a museum to honor Escher's work while still telling the history of the palace was a great idea.
It's good for kids as well with some activities for the young ones to joy while visiting.
Definitely a must go in Den Haag.

Beautiful display of MC Escher work in the Lange Voorhout Palace that's just as remarkable.

Queen Emma bought the building in 1896, renovated it extensively and lived there from 1901 until her death in 1934. The queens Wilhelmina, Juliana and Beatrix used it as a working palace and received ambassadors here. The structure is impressive as you move about the museum and wander through the rooms.

The Chandeliers that hang in the various rooms and the main stairwell are stunning. Designed by Han van Benhem are magnificent works of art themselves.

Nice exhibition ! It's the perfect place to learn more about Escher's life and work. The pieces on display are quite diversified and span from his early to his late years. And every room includes just the right amount of explanations and context to appreciate what is to be seen, with many details and quotes from the artist.

Not long enough! This was a well-designed exhibit that was interesting and informative. The palace as a venue could be better because there were a lot of stairs and some were only one person wide so there was a bottle neck. There were fun displays and an opportunity to take an optical illusion photo. The artwork itself is so cool and detailed. I would recommend this experience to anyone visiting The Hague or even Amsterdam since it is a pretty easy train ride that you can do in a few hours.

This is one of the best museums I have ever been to. There is an abundance of information on the life of MC Escher and his teacher Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita. This museum tells a beautiful and heartbreaking story of mentorship and life. I highly recommend this museum. The staff are also incredibly kind and helpful.

For someone generally grounded in the empirical world of sciences, the introduction to Escher's work was refreshingly diverse. He has a unique ability to engage minds that primarily lean toward logic.

He turns mathematical concepts, such as tessellation, infinity, symmetry, and hyperbolic geometry, into a visual narrative that can be appreciated beyond scientific discourse.

His technique is consistently thoughtful and precise; each piece displays an intricate, impossible reality depicting paradoxical spaces and infinite loops, pushing the boundaries of the viewer's understanding of the interplay of space, shape, and form.

Escher Museum

It’s quite impressive in terms of exhibits and of the building interior itself. We enjoyed walking around and looking at the works, paying attention to the small details. I was mesmerized by the patterns and how the shapes flow into each other, revealing what is hidden there and what only the curious eye could notice and with artistic hand bring to our attention.
The nice thing was that kids get the paper with the tasks to complete. Which makes the visit more interesting for them and more enjoyable for accompanying adults.
I have good memories about the museum, and would definitely recommend to visit it if you happen to be nearby.

Wonderful exhibit in the Escher year - the works of this genius Dutch artist cannot be described. You must see them yourself! Also, the Paleis is a great architectural piece, Queen Anne's winter residence and a work of art in itself! Not to be missed!
