Boscafé 't Hijgend Hert

Wonderful! Would recommend this to absolutely everyone. It's a great starting off point for hikes and it's also a great meeting point for dinner, lunch, a date, a family meeting, everything basically! The service is great. People are kind and there are plenty of waiters around. The food is amazing, home cooked and delicious. The atmosphere is unbeatable in the area. It's not loud inside but it feels cosy. Outside there is a wood stove and blankets available if it gets colder. Definetly go here!

This place is great. A true ‘Boscafé’ in excellent surroundings if you like walking in the woods! There’s more of these type of bar/restaurants in the vicinity but this is the most cozy one! It can be busy so reservation is needed on weekends. They could have a better selection of lunch options but the selection of beers make up for that. Njoy!!

Very spacious biergarten on the edge of a forest. The service was lightning quick here and dishes came out super fast as well. Plenty of beer options. Almost a must visit on any hike in the area.

We stopped here on our walk to enjoy some vlaai and coffee. The rice and apple vlaai were delicious. The big apple vlaai was huge! The ambiance is lovely and it's a great place to stop during your walk. I was very impressed with the sweet peacock. It's right in the middle of the forest!

Beautiful spot, cozy atmosphere, exotic birds walking past your tables, friendly staff, and quick service make this restaurant worth visiting over and over again.

Place is very cosy and situated in the beautiful limburgish area. There are cats and other animals walking on the terrace, and the view is great, there are seats where you look directly in the nature area where you see other animals like cows and goats. The waiter was really attentive and made jokes with customers. I read about other reviews with long wait times but when we were there it was busy but the service was great.
They have an extensive list of Beers with funny and informative descriptions (in dutch).

Excellent spot in the middle of nowhere in the woods of Southern Limburg. Magnificent down-the-slope view. Hiking route points leading to and from this place but also excellent parking availability. The food is great, although slightly on the pricey side but then extra portions of side dish fries are served freely. Friendly hosts and some friendly chickens and peacocks roaming freely. 😄

The only mountain hut in the Netherlands! This place really has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are very friendly, there are also lovely farm animals! We only had a coffee and some vlaai here but the vlaai was delicious and (like all the other items on the menu) are locally sourced!

Really nice hidden place!! If you like nature, animals and something authentic you should come here. The environment is really special and the food is good!

I have been here three times in the last year and a half and in different seasons...the food is very good and a fantastic atmosphere...this last day with snow...very fun!!!!

There's food and there's real food. This is one step above the previously mentioned ones. This is the best food I've had in any Dutch restaurant.

This was an unexpected and very nice surprise!
A very big restaurant in the middle of the forest where probably a hunting cottage was before.
The atmosphere is very nice, there are also some wild animals that you can look at, the food is very tasty and the portions are very generous and the local beer is also very tasty.
Parking place could be a little full if you are unlucky but I guess you can park on the side of the road also.

We had the ijsjes, and they were otherworldly. The bitterballen and the Hert beer were fantastic too. Ambience and the location were second to none.
Will visit again for their entrees.

Wauw what a place! The food and service alone was already amazing. But then there’s the view, and the atmosphere, and the animals. Truly wonderful and an absolute must if you’re visiting the area. I’ll definitely go back next time I’m around!

Super cosy sitting next to deer, sheep. Great fun for kids and atmospheric for grown ups. Good rest place for cyklist and people doing Forrest walks.

During our walking trip in the area we actually started and finished our route here. The location is really great: they have good beers and wines (some produced locally) and good food (though a bit pricey). The ambiance is great, with lots of room and some nice open fires. Surely a place we'll return to next time around.
