Went here with the social deal discount. Not too big, not too small. Fun to make the trip down memory lane. Friendly staff. The discovery tour for kids with the mice is a bit messy. Mice are missing, many objects when found do not have the answer to the question to be found anywhere. Idea is nice though. Hope they will fix it. The Lego exhibition is nice to see. Kids love to build something with Lego and get rewarded with a true Lego buildmaster diploma. Free parking at the Nieuwe Wal is nice. Only a short 15 minute walk from there to the museum or you can take the free shuttle that departs every 20 minutes. Against what their website states, do not call them at the 06 number mentioned on their website to inquire for the shuttle as that will lead to a guy getting cranky at you for calling him. The shuttle will keep going back and forth. No need to call. Worth visiting!

Small but packed. The building has an interesting prison history. A great excuse for a visit down a harbour with some interesting boats. The lego exhibition a surprising bonus.

We got a tip from a colleague this museum has a temporal exhibition of Lego. And since we're Lego fans we came right a way. The museum is little but there's enough to see and to do for the kids. Kids can choose between 2 type of treasure hunts (depending on their age) and they have even a little restaurant where you can grab a lunch while the kids can play with Lego :). A nice place to go with the whole family since young til old. For the older people is quite funny to see all those stuff they had.. or even had, or just saw on their parents or grandparents houses. Quite funny.

Cool museum not just for the general history look into households over the last 100 years but also the awesome Lego exposition and ability to interact for kids (and adults).

For people who are old enough it will be a trip down memory lane. For younger people history will come to life. Looking back to the 20th century (emphasis on second half, after WW II), this period is presented in a series of rooms, furnished in the styles of the decades: sober forties and fifties and the colourful sixties and seventies. A lot of information about events, news and way of living. Also rebuilt shops from the old days.
The depot is open, so all kinds of objects including toys and devices are visible, with information added.

The exhibition is organized by decades so you can see the progress made over time. It covers many aspects from daily life up to politics and pop culture. You can see there ads from every era showing pretty well what people were shopping for. Large section is devoted to toys.
Next to permanent exhibition there was a temporary one focused on DDR. Pretty interesting too.

Fun collection of memorabilia of the twentieth century, in particular the scenes of rooms in houses of various decades.

From collections of razors over the years to a reconstructed household store, there's a lot of attention to detail, and there's plenty to soak up. Ever wonder how ice boxes worked before electricity became commonplace? What did the first washing machines look like?

I didn't get nearly enough time to relish in all the exhibits–I had thought 90 minutes would be enough, but it certainly deserves another visit!
