Hotel & Restaurant 'De Fortuna'

Very nice hotel with excellent view and good spaces. The scenery is unique. View to the canals of Edam and central position in the town. Breakfast for every taste and many choices. The staff is very friendly and kind. Clean and good services. I recommend it 100%

We found the hotel and restaurant charming and the location within Edam perfect. The owner and the entire staff were friendly and attentive to our every need. The room overlooked the patio and was well-furnished, clean with a comfortable bed. The included breakfast was fresh, full of variety and plentiful. Our evening meal in the restaurant did not disappoint–delicious and beautifully presented. We definitely recommend the Hotel De Fortuna. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

A very vibrant restaurant just beside the canal in the quaint town of Edam. The interior is classical. Bitterballen, Edam cheese & cheese sticks were just what’s needed in a Sunny long weekend. The staffs are very friendly & polite. The food and drinks are reasonably priced.

Hotel/restaurant is the middle of paradise. Edam must be named Eden. Staff is very polite and helpful. Food and drinks are excellent. We enjoyed our stay.

The atmosphere here feels so good. a real dutch cafe decoration is very sweet and nostalgic / also I recommend you to try the apple pie it is very good. I did not stay in the hotel part. I just had a chance to try a quick coffee and dessert. 🫶🏻

No accommodation, just restaurant.
No matter what meal wast perfect, felt like in heaven. Antique atmosphere, but with modern services. Really enjoyed the pumpkin soup and local fish from market. For me the kitchen here is something unbelievable good.

Cosy right in the heart of the city, surrounded by the canals this is probably the Netherlands you were looking for. Walking through town there is one pretty corner after another. Furthermore, the hotel is also an amazing restaurant. And when the sun sets over the beautiful traditional harbour just outside the hotel visible from your window, the restaurant turns into a gentle town bar.

My family and I randomly encountered this restaurant and we had the best experience. The staff helped us out in the perfect timing and were very polite and professional. We also had the pleasure to meet whom I believe was the owner - he truly cares about providing his customers with excellent service. The food was delicious and especially the cheese was of a high quality. Thank you, it was worth the visit!

De Fortuna (Edam)

Do Fortuna is a hotel and fine restaurant in the heart of old Edam, with easy access by bus (25 minutes) to the central railway station and the heart of downtown. It is comprised of three two-story houses, clean, well furnished and well maintained, on the old fashioned and/comfortable side, with patios on the canals that run by the buildings. The owners, Nicholas and Karen, are kind and accommodating. The continental breakfast is excellent, the meals otherwise excellently prepared and presented in a nice setting. One caution is that some of the rooms are up a flight of steep winding stairs, so clear any mobility concerns with your hosts. It is certainly a place to which we would like to return.

Very nice and beautiful hotel and great restaurant in the old cheese city Edam, well known for Dutch Edammer cheese. Near the city of Amsterdam. Lovely terrace alongside a little canal. I only visited the restaurant. Beautiful menu with surprising and very tastefull choices.
Great choices of wines, local beers and local and international liquors.
Good parking at only a few minutes walk.

Charming little family - owned place right next to a canal in the city of Edam, famed for their cheese of the same name. We had a small room upstairs in a separate building. Cute and clean. Price reasonable.
The restaurant serves gourmet food on cloth tablecloths and service is good. Friendly staff and the owner greets all the guests. We had a deliciously prepared cod, a catch of the day.
We bought several varieties of Edam cheese from a family - owned store that produces its own cheese using their own cows, sheep and goats.

Great place to stop for lunch on a sunny day due to the extensive terrace outside. The service here is excellent - no problem at all rearranging chairs to accommodate our group of 6 and the staff checked a couple of times to see if we wouldn't like an extra table to fit the food on. The food is great - we were here for lunch so didn't try the dinner menu but all the items like chicken saté, burger etc were very good and the accompanying fries excellent.

Literally some of the best food I've ever tasted. Better than high-end resteraunts in NYC. Their simple cheese and bread is outstanding. Edam is known for their cheese and it shows with how good their food was.

Their Dutch apple pie is also a must have during a visit here. The apples are cooked perfectly and the pie crust is made perfectly.

It was overall a perfect meal from start to finish.

Very cozy place with a small terrace, in the beautiful town of Edam, near ine of the canals.
Good beer (a few craft specialities). A daily menu and a "quick menu" (soup and 3 mini sandwiches) are available, as well as small tasting plates of Edam cheese.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in town.

Awesome! We absolutely loved it here. Its a super old-school hotel which really represents the flaire of the netherlands. Breakfast was awesome, they offered little packs of the DeRujiter (not sure how its spelled) chocolate sprinkles for your toast. I recommend trying them!
Rooms were very clean, people were nice and we were able to bring our dog without any issues. Will recommend this place :)

We stopped in here when we wanted a warm drink in Edam, lovely little place with toilets and a good drinks menu. Also serves food. Good location near to the bus station. Good service and reasonably priced.

A charming hotel located down by the small canal and the folding bridge. Its retaurant serves decent meals along with a wide selection of wines and beers.
