Koeien en Kaas

A gem of a restaurant right in the centre of Gouda, behind De Waag. The service is very friendly and attentive. A nice menu selection with, as the name suggests, cheese or meat dishes. But they also offer vegetarian and even vegan choices. A great place to have dinner after visiting the city. A nice last factoid, every table has a light that turns red when turned, to discretely get the attention of the waiter. Warmly recommended!

Gouda is the city of cheese; what better way to enjoy cheese than to also enjoy the animal where it came from: the cow!

Koeien en Kaas is an amazing restaurant with a rustic vibe in the center of Gouda.

They have a large menu with of course steaks, but also cheese dishes, fish dishes and surprisingly even vegatarian dishes.

Although the restaurant is great and the food tastes amazing, it is a shame that they only serve 'mainstream' parts of the cow even though there is so much more to the rest of the animal: tail, head, neck, etc.
It would be nice if 'Koeien en Kaas' would serve more of the 'koe' instead of only the main body.
They surprisingly also do not have many options for cheese, other than tasting menus or fondue.

There are 2 dining halls, 1 on ground level and one on the first floor. The toilets are also on the first floor and only accessible by stairs, which means wheelchair users can not go to the toilet here.

The best meat we had!!! Everything was fresh and amazing. The philly cheese steak was unbelievable, the brisket was cooked perfectly and the sliders too. Will definitely go back again and try different things. Thank you so much for the incredible experience.

Great Restaurant on 2 floors with modernized old furniture and darker light setting. Friendly and determined staff. High quality food. Prices above average.

Lovely place with friendly staff. A lot of great food!

Food was astonishing and service was great. We had the cheesebaker and the steak tasting. Hint: ask the if you can keep the cheese dip from the cheesebaker to dip fries 😊

We loved the food here! We ordered the truffle fondue, a medium rare steak and the cheese soup. So yummy!

The restaurant had a lovely ambience and was cosy and intimate. Perfect for a night out with your special one. The steaks and cheese dishes are awesome and beautifully presented. The staff were attentive and passionate about the food being served. Definitely recommended!

Cozy, service, location and food is very good!

Great steaks and service! We have been to the one in alphen aan de rijn and this location is equally as good. The tomahawk steak was cooked medium rare to perfection. Sides were cooked well and warm. Really loved the roasted garlic served with the steak! The kaas fondue was also really tasty. The sides that came with it was generous and the portion is perfect for 1 person. Desserts were good too, really enjoyed the Scorppino. Service was also very friendly. Would definitely return again as the inside looks cozy and perfect for winter.

A really nice restaurant/pub in the heart of Gouda. Friendly staff, good and fast services. Very dutchy. Atmosphere is nice with wooden decorations and dim fancy lights. The cheese soup is a must to try. Burger is average size. Pricing might be a bit high... but worth it.

Nice atmosphere, good food, clean bathrooms, and helpful staff. Price point is average for a steakhouse. There are many options for vegetarians too. The ice fondue is fun too! I had a good time :)

Staff very friendly. Switching quickly to English when we didn't understand what they said in Dutch. We had the Gouda Cheese Soup and both the Daddy Steak medium. Food was very good. The Espresso & Espresso Macchiato served with a small "Stroopwafel" at the end were also very good. Recommend and would absolutely eat here again.

We went for dinner. We had the carapaccio for starter, châteaubriant for main, and the platter of cheese for desert. Excellent food, great ambiance and friendly service. More expensive than other restaurants in Gouda but definitely worth it. We will visit this restaurant when next in Gouda.

Great place for an easy-going experience with steak and cheese. Good place to take visitors from abroad, English menus available. Beer selection is very limited but other elements make up for this.

We had a couple of the cheese fondue dishes. Both were excellent. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was very cozy.

My second time here, great food and wine with excellent service.
