Oke Ado - AdoAwaye

Super beautiful site you can't wait to visit. The climb to be top isn't tough, the views on the different levels is simply breathtaking. See the Ishage heavy rock standing on two legs, enjoy the scenic landscape view as you continue to the Hanging lake. The lake can be described as bottomless and is not open for swimming because the depth isn't known. It's a very picturesque site. Then see the tree with a elephant trunk shape. You should be here, if you want to answer the call of great mother nature. Make sure to have some N500 to pay the Tour guide there, and maybe some extra cash to tip because they are very friendly and welcoming.

This is home to one of the 2 suspended lakes in the world.

Blessed with several other mysterious natural attraction like Ishage, the elephant tree, Iya alaro lake etc.

The hill is a good hiking site but a bit tedious cos of the bad state of the stairs leading up.
Asides that, the experience is a great one and you need to be brave and daring as its a long hike up . But the view from the summit is amazing and compensating.
The town is calm and the villagers are friendly and helpful too.

I'll love to visit again and again.

First, I went to see the Only Naturally Suspended Lake in Africa located in Ado Awaye, Oyo, Nigeria in January 2020 and I was captivated by the sheer beauty and serendipity I experienced on the mountain. This sight is an intriguing hike destination if you love exploring nature and it’s beauty.
My second trip was to soak in all of the awesomeness of the mountain and lake by camping overnight atop the mountain, it wasn’t a small feat, I promise you but it’s an incredibly satisfying experience.
Naturally, I went with my nature loving family @backpackerslagos (you should check them out on Instagram if you are interested in exploring, they have nice trips planned throughout the year).
As usual, the trip starts with a courtesy visit to the Oba’s palace where the Amiable King receives us in a warm welcome and gives us brief history of the village and the mountains. We then settle down for a delicious meal of Amala and Ewedu or rice if you wish (but who goes to Oyo to eat rice though 😏) and finally head out for the adventure.
I’ll let you find out all of the fun and excitement by yourself (should you opt to go) and not give spoilers, but I highly recommend you check out the mountain.

So historical and a nice view for tourist attractions, very high and needs you to be mentally and physically ready to climb up to the hills. AdoAwaye is actually a suspended lake that doesn't flow down or has a source and when it rains it remains the same, it doesn't get fuller or reduces when it's dry season. It's located in oyo state in a village called Ado after iseyin.
Government needs to work on this places for more security, keeping thugs of, hotels and relaxation centers.

Beautiful place. It's a lovely hike up could get a bit tiring but it's doable for most levels of fitness... I would rate it an easy to moderate hike. The views from mid way and on top are very rewarding. We payed a local guide to go up it us

There are two suspended lakes in the world and one of them is in Nigeria.
ADO-AWAYE TOWN is Surrounded by mountain and is home to one of the two suspended lake in the world.A Suspended lake is a lake at the top of mountain.This unforgettable place is better experience than told ,because it is indeed a mysterious lake.

It was nice to visit Ado-awaye mountains and suspended Lake and I really think everyone should visit there at least once in their lifetime. It's better to go early in the morning before the sun is out because lots of endurance required for the hiking and would be more difficult with sun. Also you'll need lots of water for the journey and good company for team spirit. I don't mind going again.

Great place to visit. the adrenaline rush while hiking and the scenery are breath taking. I am glad I camped by the lake all night

Great hiking experience, great experience climbing the 'not properly maintained steps', great view after reaching the first sight (the bringer of rain).

Lovely view once you are up on the mountains. However, the lake has no wow factor.

There was no way to validate the myth that if you enter, you will relocate to another continent.

Lovely location. You get to experience nature in all its beauty. If you're going hiking, please come prepared-phisically, mentally and emotionally because it's an intense experience but the view from the top is really beautiful (and a bit frightening) but it will be an experience to remember.

Ado awaye is a state in Oyo before Iseyin, where you have the highest mountain rock full of many history... And around there you have a place called ORI-OKE Imubosipo (a prayer mountain) where God bless and have His wonderful did.

A very nice place for adventure lovers. Full of Mystery, the suspended lake located on top but can be easily located by a tour guard. The "verge of death", "the rain maker stone" and "the elephant tree" are fantastic side attraction on the mountain.

Ado Awaye is the most scenic landscape I've been to in Western Nigeria. The environment is pretty neat and has got the nicest indigenes. If you love to hike, then Ado Awaye is a most visit for you. The hike takes approximately 4hrs. The views at the top is epic, Beautiful landscape. And yes one of the two recognized suspended lakes in the world is located here. Amazing place.
