Matang Mangrove Forest Reserve Eco Park

Great for nature lovers. Appreciating the importance of the mangrove to the whole ecosystem. About 1.2km of boardwalk, opens at 8.00am, got there about 8.30am on a Saturday, stayed there for close to an hour maybe. RM5 for the ticket and RM2 for the parking, worth the price over all. Was on my own almost the entire time other than a Japanese couple at the entrance with their huge cameras. Saw both a male and female common flameback woodpecker together, an unidentified raptor and a family of otters. Would recommend for a short trip !

This was a nice nature preserve. The boardwalk is well maintained and it was clean. No English on the map but the plaques along the walk had English. I saw a wild boar in the bushes, woodpeckers, kingfishers and some otters playing in a farming bed(?) near the road back towards the entrance. The buildings near the river(cafeteria, shop) were shut down when I was there(weekday in January) so not much here in the way do drinks or refreshments. It’s very buggy so wear repellent but it’s quite serene and if you’re quiet you’re sure to spot some animals.

I got dropped off by my mangrove tour guide but there is a local bus that goes by from Taiping.

Unique experience of walking through mangrove. Had a raised platform to walk on. Slippery at certain areas. Despite walking carefully I slipped. No guide was around but Jack, the dog living there, walked with us to the end and back.

We loved the mangrove track...It was a big area and plenty of flora and fauna to see and captured in our phones...Nice trip we had that day.

A really well maintained mangrove forest in Malaysia. The ticket is RM5/adult and parking fee RM2. The trail is refurbished and repainted so you can have some good photos. There are some chalets provided for those who want to have a stay in the forest. We can spot some birds and reptiles in the forest, but not monkeys.

There are some information guidelines across the trail when tourist reached to certain parts of the forest.

Recently refurbished floor boards and the cloudy weather was perfect! At the end of the walk we ended up at another section of the forest so it was either a reroute back to our starting point or a 5 minute walk across the tarred roads to get our car.

Not bad maintaining, just some of the wood plank at walkway is broken. Friendly security guard and clean public toilet. Entrance fees is only Rm5 for local adult. Worth to visit.

If you are a nature lover this is the place that you must go. However a section of the walkway is completely broken which is a bummer because it lead you to a river

Must visit place so to learn more about the mangrove swamp.. the staffs were friendly..the only setback is the amount of plastic bottles n rubbish I noticed along the trail don't know whether thrown by irresponsible visitors or washed up by the current..

Entry rm6/pax. 1.2km oneway. Well maintain.. good leisure.

nice wooden raised footpath. can even visit during afternoon because the place is very shady from all the tall mangroves trees.

A great place to educate young minds regarding the importance of nature conservation, mangrove trees and wetlands.

A nice and serene place to visit especially if you are enthusiastic about mother nature...along the way you can see the damage done by human...rubbish around the mangrove forest..hope the authority can clean them up time to time ..and upmost important is we play our role to keep it clean

A very soothing place. Suitable to go if you are looking for a place to relax, getting close to nature, getaway from cities. Recomment for short trip late afternoon. Parking fees applies.

I rate this place 5 stars for educational purposes. People can learn all about mangrove forest from ecological and economic perspective. People can also experience mangrove plantation activities. For night visitors, there are river cruising and fireflies watching which I will try in the future. It all depends on which package you choose for tour.

For accommodation, I would suggest you find elsewhere as their chalets were poorly managed unless you really want to experience nightime in mangrove forest. Beware, there's a lot wild boars.🐗

Great educational experience about mangrove forest. The Forestry Department's guide is superbly knowledgeable and able to bring about interesting stories and information.
