First known about this place from Amir Muhammad's documentary " The Last Communist " . Then the articulate owner Mr Michael Chuah narrated the process on the making of charcoal & the by products in conjunction with the process. Alas Mr Michael Chuah has since retired and we have to make do with his replacement a Mr Tan as our guide. No prior appointments are necessary; entrance is free and if one is desirous one can ask at the front desk for a guided tour and pay RM 3 per person . Various shades of Charcoal, Charcoal Oil & Odour Absorbers are available for purchase at the souvenir stall

Best experiences ever. A place to learn where the charcoal comes from, what can it be used and so on. Also providing a free tour inside of the factory. There are more than 3 factories in a place but only one factoey provide free tour. It is good for learning process and etc.

This place have actual working charcoal making process. The boat brings in wood and put into kiln to fire until charcoal. I went there and saw one working kiln and also one empty where you can walk in to look inside. Parking space is limit, remember to go early.

Went there during Wesak day so there's only 2-3 workers working, and a stall selling their products of the wood. I guess they'd have somebody to give info and guide during normal days

You can have a look at their burning funnel with the fragrance can be smelled all around the place, and beside the factory there are lot wood logs waiting to be burnt.

Great place to acquire new knowledge on charcoal making. Complete with tour guide for tourist. Its a once in a life time experience. The pace is not so big to occupied so many people at one time. It open to all not only for group visit. Suitable for everyone especially for school trip. The ambience is full of burning aroma so it might not comfortable for some but it is charcoal Factory so what else do you wish😅..

红树变黑金?
Black Gold from kiln?

Nice place to bring kids or tour to this charcoal factory. They will the process on how to transfer mangrove tree to this factory using boat via small river. Then need to peel skin from tree after that arrange it inside kiln, need 30 days to turn it into charcoal. Process is not easy, it's quite a hard job that's why less local want do this job.
