Sri Muneeswaran Temple

A decent looking hindu temple at the end of the Tanglin Halt Road, which is just right next to the church of the blessed sacrament (christian church). It was built in 1932 by a group of Indian workers of the Malayan Railway to honour the Hindu deity, Sri Muneeswaran which is the guardian deity (with ambiguous origin), and it is now the largest hindu temple to worship the deity in southeast asia. It is the only hindu temple in the vicinity, and one key feature of the temple is the lack of central pillars in the inner sanctum, which allows devotees to have full view of rituals

Very organized in prayer in rituals and prompt in attending to queries. Although they are reconstructing the temple currently, they've planned the temporary space for the deities carefully. Pleasant experience.

Temple is under renovation. But having all gods are present, staff is full supporting, toilets are also clean.

This temple is near by my house and visit almost everyday. Very peaceful and every Pooja is done by priest with immense devotion. Priest and all members who work in temple are very good. Mostly on weekends and special days have some prasadam. We have Navagraha, vinayaka,Subramanya swamy, Nagamma,Dharma Muneeswara with Nandi, Mariayyam.I beleive prasadam there fills many hunger stomachs 🙂. May god bless them.

Great temple. Staff is very professional. Main area is under under renovations, expected to be ready by end 2023.

Temple location is easily accessible by bus, just 2 min walk. It has spacious area so no stuffy feeling and premises is serene, greenery around and quite peaceful place. Temple is sacred with Lord Shiva's Blessings 💕

A childhood temple a visited at a nearby place... Now replaced by this.... Attending wedding.... Thou its not that big hall.... Still is wide and acceptably distributed.

Sri Muneeswaran Temple, considered to be the largest shrine in Southeast Asia dedicated to Sri Muneeswaran, is situated on the Tanglin Halt Road at Commonwealth Drive Singapore. The grand temple gets its name from the merging of the two words: 'muni' meaning 'saint', and 'ishwar', signifying 'god'. Along with the presiding deity, Sri Muneeswaran Temple also includes the idols of several well-known Hindu gods like Lord Vinayagar, Sri Durgai Amman, Sri Ayappan, Sri Krishna and Sri Mariamman, to name a few. It is also said to be the only temple in Singapore to house the deities of Sri Naga Raja and Rani.

Interestingly, Sri Muneeswaran is said to be the God of acting and the protector of the South Indian villages. Several local actors offer their prayers at this temple since it is a strong belief that worshipping Sri Muneeswaran will improve one's acting skills. The dignified temple was originally a shrine built by the Malayan railway workers at Queensway in 1932 in order to worship the deity. In 1998, it was relocated to Tanglin Road where it stands till date. Apart from being a place of worship, Sri Muneeswaran Temple also holds counselling and matchmaking sessions and doubles as a free yoga centre on Sundays and Mondays. The management committee of the temple also offers food to the needy in and around this place, irrespective of race and age. Not only is this sacred temple visited by numerous visitors throughout the year, but it is also believed to specifically draw in worshippers who are transformed criminals. Devotees flood in large crowds from distant places to pay their offerings and connect to their spiritual selves.

Unlike other temples in Singapore, this temple is maintained well. Good management system right from the counter personal till the priest. They patiently answer all our queries. Prices for the offerings are reasonably charged as well.
I always feel very happy visiting this place of worship eventhough I had to travel quite a distance.
