Shui Yuan Seafood Restaurant

If you're in Nibong Tebal town, this is one of the best restaurant in the area. Has been around for very long and a stronghold in this town.
1. The signature dish is the deep fried pork knuckle. It's probably prepared early morning so it's not hot. 4/5.
2. The other signature is the boiled octopus dipped in sweet chili sauce. Something you rarely see anywhere else. 4/5.
3. Steamed clams are okay. There's a tinge of wine in it. 4/5.
4. Vege is normal. 4/5.
5. The Thai style fish is not that great IMHO. 3/5.

In summary it's not that bad. To me is on the bland side abit but maybe that's how the locals likes it. The restaurant is crowded even at 2.30pm there's ppl waiting to get table. Maybe it's CNY.

Every dish we tried (la la, steamed fish, crab meat tofu, octopus) was delicious and really fresh but the stand out for me was the pork knuckle which is a must try. It's one of the best that I've had to date. Recommend going on a weekday as weekends are really busy.

Good food at reasonable prices. Signature pork knuckle sold out so tried other dishes. The octopus, claypot field frogs, curry prawns, Thai style steamed lala and sweet potato leaves all tasted delicious. Service is fast and good too.

I had the most springy octopus here. The texture is just divine to me.
The seafood porridge is also good, just the pepper is over to my liking, but it contains generous portion of fish, prawn, fish maw, crab.
The mince pork tofu so far is the best i had. Nt the tofu itself, but the way they cook the gravy, is just delicious!

Come early to avoid long waiting hours. Food is amazing with great price. Pork leg is a must. The taste reminda you of elderly home cook 😋

Nearby here there is a famous seafood restaurant too. Because they are closed for 5 days, we had tried and turned out their porridge fish and prawn. The size of prawn is medium but only a handful. Not too watery, rice not too soggy and taste of natural seafoodsweet. The mini squid and lala are equally well done by the taste and the cooking timing. The total bill is RM81 for 2 pax including a nutmeg juice. The table setting is a bit cramped and big table kind of limited.

Best fried pork knuckle ever！And other dishes tasted very good too. It was so worth the wait.

I always dropby here on my trip back from the North. Good seafood porridge and deep fried pork knuckle. The octopus is good too. All seafood are fresh. Price is reasonable.

This is my small time always go for dinner with my family place good food ,but the waiting is still the same 😁😁😂😂but overall good food for family please come early for those who want to have dinner this shop open at 5.30pm

This is my edited review. If you are in Nibong Tebal, this is the go to restaurant. I’ve been eating this for more than 15 years. Recommended dishes are pork knuckle, curry chicken and teow chiu steam fish head(siakap) not in pics cuz we are too stuffed.
I must say the teow chiu steam is one of the best, if not the best I’ve tasted in my life.

The food is great, price reasonable, but the store is overly cramped. The floor is so oily it's a safety hazard walking or standing up.

Must try the trotter, curry fish head and cuttlefish. The trotter is so crispy and delicious !

Pork knuckle pricing around RM66-70 ++.
Very crunchy, and goes well with the chilli sauce.

Still prefer this place over many other chu char restaurant in NT. Best pork knuckles and crab porridge.

Every 2 mths penang working trip I will surely drop by and enjoy my lunch here.
