Firefly Jetty Cafe

A surprising find in the town of Nibong Tebal. We came here for the fireflies but we were also enthralled by the delicious food. The boat ride to watch the fireflies was about 20 minutes down the Kerian River. Later I realized the boatman was the cafe owner, a friendly Chinese man in his late 50s. We took the boat ride first before ordering our dinner. Since it was almost full moon, we saw only a few fireflies in the berembang trees but it was magical nonetheless. The air was cool and refreshing. Life jackets are provided for the boat ride (RM60 per boat ride).

By the time we reached the jetty which is next to the cafe, we were hungry. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. Inagine KL quality with Nibong Tebal prices. We had the salted egg gravy over chicken chop, seafood pasta and a fluffy omelette stuffed with mushrooms. For dessert we tried the almond tiramisu (cake was dry) but the black forest chocolate cake was to die for! Unfortunately we gobbled the cake slice only to realize we forgot to snap a pic.

Only major disappointment was the toilet. The cafe was nicely decorated but the toilet was too basic like some toilet in a local kopitiam. It should have been refurbished too to reflect the cafe ambience.

Super nice environment for dinner! I really enjoyed the river view and vibes. Food was very cheap and portion was big. Taste was decent as well. 10/10 recommended if you’re looking for a cafe in Nibong Tebal!

At first we thought is an abandoned cafe as the signage is really not clear 😂😂😂

We were they around 1pm and it was very hot outside. However it is very cozy sitting in the cafe.

The tables are all taken but 2 of us enjoy our sit at a bar counter type kind of sitting facing the river.

Their food taste quite good and the coffee is nice too. Cake is not bad although they out source it from other baker.

This place is awesome. Should make your way here to enjoy the atmosphere and have great food if you are near Penang! 💯

A cafe whereby if you don’t look for it, you might not even know it existed.

Food quality and price definitely good. The chef/manager definitely knows how to priotised the order despite there’s an exceptionally huge group of guests(20 pax) which could easily delay your order. But it did not happen, we received our food orders fast as well without much of a wait. Kudos to the staffs.

Would come here again next time when there’s not a huge guests in the restaurant.

OK coffee but not bad food !

My favourite cafe in Nibong Tebal. Situated next to the river, this cosy cafe has a range of good food at a cheap price. Air conditioned seating as well as sheltered porch seating upstairs is available, all with a river view. Step outside for some fresh air and photos. Free WiFi. Fast service. Plenty of parking in front of the cafe. A lovely place to relax or do some work. No wheelchair access.

Great experience and service from the cafe. We came for the fireflies and so the waitress even recommended us a boat for the trip. 👍🏻

Nice ambience, nice views, the food is so gooood we even ordered takeaways. Price is moderate, around RM15-RM20 each. I noticed there's less reviews from malays, so if you're okay w/ non muslims cafe/restaurant, I really recommend this place. They serve no pork and alcohol btw.

i love this cafe much , although not much selection but i love the enviroment here. take a short boat trip to see fireflies , 1st trip start at 7:45pm .cost cheap . just inform the friendly staffs here .further in have another dock , could be for full trip one , i will go next visit

A nice cafe on the water! Serving delicious food and beverage! I have tried their pasta, chicken chop and fried rice and they were all GOOD! Please come at night to feel the ambience!

Had a great experience with this cafe and the firefly night cruise with the uncle (book with the cafe lady). It’s a worth it. Tips dinner at 7pm, after dinner go for firefly cruise at 8pm, so far best experience since firefly is rarely seen in most places , the uncle has the best experience and he knows where to find those little fireflies along the river cruise

Nice place to hangout on sunny day. The deserts were quite good. Fair pricing.

Cute cafe by the NT river. Serves good coffee and a range of Western dishes as well as some local faves (char kway teow, fried rice) and desserts.

There’s outdoor seating upstairs and they run boat tours to see Fireflies (starts 730-745pm after it gets dark).

Xtreme Freedom Bikers was here. Nice place, food and beverage hav own specialty.
