Excellent place to visit when in Penang, Malaysia.

The funicular train takes us from the bottom of the hill to the top of the hill. It is a very good experience, almost like a roller coaster.

The views from the top of the hill are amazing and the best time to go to this place would be at the time of sunset perhaps.

Plan this one carefully. The tickets, the time of the day, etc.

Good site to seeing the landscape of Penang from the hill. Ticket entrance is 30RM for non-Malaysian citizenship (adult). Prepare for the long queue on the weekend.

It is a beautiful small hill where you can see the whole city view. The jeep service can take you on 700M on top of the hill where you can find Hindu temple and a bunch of other stores.

Visited the Penang Hill when visiting Penang for a holiday. You can reach the area by getting a cab and then you can just buy the tickets for the funicular service to go up the hill. We visited during the evening time so we get a view of Penang from daytime, to sunset, to night time.
The scenic view is beautiful and quite relaxing.
For the ticket price, this is quite worth it and worth visiting if you are visiting Penang.

The distinctive locals were decked out in their hiking gears raring to climb up the hills while those queuing up for the funicular tram ride, chances are they were mostly tourists.

There is a mid-hill tram station - this is where half-hearted hikers who give up on the climb could board to continue their ascend or decend, or those who give up on the tram ride and decide to hike up the hill.

As it was a week day, there wasn't a long queue for our ride. The look out point on top offered a great view of the towns below.

If you are in Penang for the first time, this is an attraction and experience that you certainly should not miss.

Beautiful, definitely a must-see when you come to penang! Penang hill >>> Penang national park.

Worth the 15Myr for the carriage ride up and down. Time your trip well since it can get crowded during dinnertime or afternoon.

Highly worth the hiking trails (on top of the hill!!!! not hiking up the hill!!). DONT hike up the hill HAHA it is pure 2 hours of stairs climbing and you will die.

There are hiking trails at the peak where you can admire the cool weather of 20°C, see beautiful flowers, and animals! Dont be afraid to walk along the roads beside the private houses! They feature beautiful gardens and a lovely scenery of the whole penang island! There is a paid trail on top where I didn't go, but for like 20MYR you can view the beautiful treetop and encounter a lot of animals.

There are about 3 unique museums on top too- teddy bear, dinosaur and zombies, some other stuff. Also beautiful temples and nice eateries.

This is a great place to enjoy the cool breeze and beautiful views. I am really enjoyed it. I am followed the tour guide. The tour guide explained the place really well. I am understand everything. When I am entered, the queue was full with people. It was really crowded. I felt very unfair to them because they had to wait. I am waiting for the funicular train to arrive. After a while, the train came. According to the website, the train can transport 800 passengers per hour. The train came up really fast. I could feel the cool breeze hitting me as I stepped out of the train. I am taking some photos. I went to Astaka Bukit Bendera. Taking pictures is my favourite. I went for a ride, up and down, and it was quite chilling. One lesson I learned is don't try to offend, when they take you to the end (I guess the end over there because I saw a coffee shop) they ask you do you want to have coffee here? Say yes if you have time, say no if you don't because they will leave you there. I am having a great time here. Really had a great time. The view is superb. I will come here again alone in the future.

how do I summarise 6 hours of emotional rollercoaster

the seven stages of grief I went through climbing up the hill should’ve been part of a first act at broadway. I was properly delusional like omg I can do this! and then 1.5 hours later I decided dying was overrated. for the first time in my life I chose life.

the heritage trail itself is . like endless stairs to hell?? like honestly what a concept for hell? you keep climbing up THINKING you’re getting to heaven but it never ends and you’re just stuck in an endless, helpless loop. THATS WHAT IT FELT LIKE. satan i’m patenting this.

there are 4-5 stops up the hill but i gave up halfway and took the tram up cause i could feel death catching up to me on that stairway. like death was also struggling but i was struggling harder.

the hill itself is gorgeous, with many eateries (David Brown’s is the iconic one, with a beautiful view at night) and paid museums for children. there’s a temple, mosque and Indian temple there too. there are tons of lookout points to see the island, and a number of trails on the hill itself to explore. you can even ‘spy’ on some of the expensive bungalows on the trails.

staying till night grants a beautiful view of the city and a chance to kiss a frog (?) the rainforest comes ALIVE at night, a whole orchestra of sounds against our footsteps. a very, very gorgeous place to visit and so worth the RM15 toll of shame I paid.

NOTE THAT QUEUES TO GET DOWN ARE LONG until at least 7pm. so plan your visits!

the funicular ride was fun with unique views but be prepared to queue for a while and be crammed into the cabin with others.

should buy the fast ticket at least 1 day in advance. i arrived at the Lower Station at around 4pm, and was lucky to have only waited about 30mins+ to get into the funicular and go up. but coming down took even longer.

highly suggest to visit The Habitat - nature reserve with mountaintop views of Penang.

Penang has a very good hiking trail. From bottom of the hill to top you need to use about 2-3 hours. You can use the mid station if you feel tired on the halfway. You can buy the return ticket before you start hiking preferably before 830am to get the half price discount. There is also nice food and red bean ice to enjoy on the hill.

Came here at 9 AM in the morning. The queue was alright, had to wait about 30 mins to enter the train. I believe the train is a bit expensive for non residents (30 rm return). At the top of the hill, I covered it wholely by walking, which I highly recommend. It took like 2 hours (came by bypass C).

One of the most amazing things about Penang. Away from the warm climate in Georgetown Penang hill is an absolute treat. Took the fenicular instead of hiking since it’s faster but get like should have hiked one way atleast.

Beautiful. Cable car rate was around 12RM for round trip, we paid additional entry fee to enter the habitat (around 100 rm, opens at 9am). We went early morning so really enjoyed the view and ambience.

This is a must-visit for any visitor to Penang island. The lush tropical rainforest atop Penang hill with a summit of 712m and a 360 all round view of Penang Island all the way to the mainland is well worth the visit . You can even see Langkawi on a clear day. It’s also cooler than Georgetown so it’s a nice respite from the tropical heat. Take the tram (but note the long queues) or 4WD jeeps up to the hill top.

Hop on the first hill station in Penang with an elevation of 821m above sea level. The bird’s eye view of Penang island cityscape and Seberang Perai; the industrial estate where most Malaysian trading begins. Being one of the most popular tourist attractions, your Penang itinerary won’t be completed without visiting Penang Hill

Penang Hill comprises of a group of peaks, located 9km from the city center. You can take the bus or Grab to get there. There is a Hindu temple and mosque, along with adventure activities, animal shows, restaurants. The weather is cooler up there. Take your time and enjoy the view

Tips: Tickets available for both standard/fast lane – Local child 6RM/20RM, adult 12RM/40RM, Foreigner child 15RM/40RM, adult 30RM/80RM.

You also can hike up/down Penang Hill and choose to buy only one way ticket for the train

Amazing views and an iconic place to visit. The funicular is done on a ticketing system which works well but go and buy your ticket before you're ready to go down because they'll make you hang around. They're very helpful on what time your train will depart. The actual ride down is huge fun and worth sitting at the front for.

We bought the fast lane tickets for trains. But since the school holidays, many queued. The view was amazing, the food up there was delicious and there are many beautiful views from the top of the hill. But overall, we enjoyed our trip here. Worth every penny. Will definitely be back again.

We Went Early In The Morning. Go With a Group And It’ll Be Amazing Experience. There Are 2 Ways Of Going Up Penang Hill, 1st Way Is To The Tram Line. While The 2nd Way Is The Good Old Fashioned Way Of Hiking.

• 1st Train Trip At 6:30 🕡am
• For Malaysian Locals Is RM12, Different Price For Foreign Travellers 30RM.

We Must Ensure That Our Tickets Is In Hand On Departure And Return. Morning Is The Time I Recommend To Visit This Place. This Is a Place Where There Is Always a Chance Of Rain, Make Sure To Keep An Umbrella Or Raincoat Handy.

Great Experience! 🎥✨

One of the highlights for our visit to Georgetown. Right from the train journey up and down the hill to the cool breeze on the top of the hill on a hot summer day and the stunning view of the city from the top made this a memorial trip. Nice trails to walk along, visit the Hindu temple and the mosque on the hill. Kids can visit the adventure rides of the simulated earthquake and typhoon. Use the binoculars to see a Birds Eye view of the city.

There are two ways of going up Penang Hill. First way is to ride the Tram, while the Second way is the good old fashioned way of Hiking.

The starting point is Penang Hill Lower Station.

If you got tired midway during the hike, you can stop at Penang Hill Middle Station, to catch the tram to Penang Hill Upper Station.

Ticket cost for Malaysian is RM3 per way.

Locker Storage, etc is available at Penang Hill Lower Station.

Definitely recommended to visit !
