Sea Gypsy Village Resort & Dive Base

It was a fantastic Christmas experience for me and my family, as this resort is probably one of the best island getaways. Not a luxury resort, but super cosy place for families with kids. While our children played whole day on the beach and around (supervised activities were really good), we could relax. Due to pet friendly policy all can enjoy playing with dogs.
The only (very minor though) drawback was a cold water in a shower, but we were told that during warmer months this is not an issue.
The personnel is extremely friendly and efficient and I would like to thank them all for an extraordinary hospitality.
We plan to return 👍

Dear Sea Gypsies team, our 9 days stay was a complete bliss. I visited with my 7 and 4 yo, while my hubby joined for the week-end only. We would have not cut our stay any day shorter.
The place : chilled but super clean, no AC but perfect sea breeze, no TV, but enjoyable chats at the lovely and lively bar. Mosquito nets work very well to keep bites away.
The activities: great snorkelling for the whole family, hikes on surrounding hills, jungle treks…
Kids entertainment: beyond expectations! 2 activities a day, early dinner with the other kids and post diner fun so they have a blast and the parents have a chilled drink. My kids loved Richard and the rest of the team!
Food: we are vegetarian and I have only but compliments for the food. Fresh, as local as possible, diverse enough for our stay.
Purpose: this place is genuinely dedicated to minimising its impact on nature and support local community.
All in all this place loves fun, nature and kids. I can’t wait to go back.
Note: it you need AC, screens and massive buffets spreads for holidays, then this place is just not the right fit ☺

Just back after spending New Year’s Eve at the resort. It was excellent - apart from the rain which is to be expected this time of year - even this didn’t stop our enjoyment as we got to sit in the bar and watch the waves, drink some beers, play cards and read our books. The food and staff were both excellent; especially Richard who does a great job of running the place and always seems to be busy entertaining everyone or helping us. The cabins were lovely too - just a fan - but with the cool sea breeze then it doesn’t matter. It was the coldest I have felt in Malaysia at sea level - apart from the Cameron Highlands. There was a very nice mix of expats, and locals staying and we soon made some new friends. Best of all it was very dog friendly. The beach is lovely and kept clean by a nice old man and lady who get up early to clean it up from what ever the tide has deposited over night. My wife went snorkelling and really enjoyed it too - next time we will try the diving. Overall - it was the most relaxing holiday I have had in years and would definitely recommend it to anyone who just wants to kick-back and forget about the world for a while!

Spent the New Year holidays here, arrived for a two nights stay ended up extending for 6 nights. For Year end monsoon period the weather was pretty mild and sunny some days and overcast others. Lots of activities to do or you can be like me and chill over a good book and a cup of tea or glad of wine.

Wonderful experience going to sleep with the sound of the waves. The staff are like family, super friendly and not overly attentive or in your face. Highly recommended for those looking for a place to vege out whilst the kids run around learning to climb trees, snorkel, archery, dive etc. But be prepared for no wifi, no hot water and going to sleep with a ceiling fan or the ocean breeze as there's no air conditioning.

We spend a week in April 2022 in this resort. Perfect place with kids. It has an awesome beach and the team is super friendly. There are different activities and excursions every day (Tree climbing, sand castle competition, walk to the village, …). We will definitely come again!

This is such a hidden gem which I’m so glad I stumbled upon! I would say it’s like a “no-frills mini Club Med”. They pick you up from the Tg Leman jetty via the resort’s boat (both arrival and departure). The villas are beach fronting, no aircon, with fan, no water heater, no hair dryer, but pretty cooling at night and sleeping by the sound of the waves was an experience! No WiFi and poor internet connectivity but surprisingly a good digital detox and that’s when I manage to really relax and chill! If you’re someone who needs the aircon, water heater and WiFi/strong internet, then this isn’t for you. The resort offers so many activities to keep you occupied. We did the sunset trip (at Pulau Kukus), jungle trekking (high point trail overseeing the entire Sibu island) and snorkelling - love it all! 😍 Warm and awesome owners Linda, Richard, Jade and staff/guides, from Irene, Ben, Boyii, Hafeez to Jay the waiter serving us patiently and always with a smile! If you’re going for jungle trekking, advisable to wear long pants! Beach is pretty clean. And yes there are sandflies so may want to prepare the oil/ointment or you can also buy there. Love the concept of the resort; in awe with the thoughts put into the environmental friendly and handmade features! One of the best beach holidays thanks to Sea Gypsy Village - cannot NOT love it! Missing the sea breeze, the place, the people and everything! Highly recommended 👍

This was the most relaxing family holiday, because there is a little bit of magic about Sea Gypsy Resort which keeps everyone happy. The kids were busy the whole time: the beach is so safe they can play in the water, the rockpools or the sand...there are also body boards, snorkels and beach toys to rent. Every day new kids' activities are organised and written on the blackboards so you know what's coming up and can sign the kids up - ours did tree climbing, a slip and slide, T-shirt painting and friendship bracelet making.

Every evening the kids have a 'kids tea' at 6pm where the resort Manager and the team do an incredible job at keeping them entertained, laughing and living their best kid-lives! After kids' tea, they take them outside to explore and play games, then there's a film in the kids club tree house whilst all the children relax on beanbags. Whilst all this is going on, adults are sat in the bar having a few pre-dinner drinks, then dinner, then we pick up the kids by 9pm.

Honestly when my kids are this happy and occupied, it really brings out the best in them...and this left us adults plenty of time to relax, read books, play games, body board, dive and also use the slip and slide :)

It's a place where kids can be adventurers and adults can remember what it feels like to be big-kids and also to relax. This magical formula really brings out the best in everyone!

Amongst all my island trips, this one felt most at home :) We had a really great experience here! From the time we arrived to the time we left, the hospitality of the crew was amazing and that made our trip really memorable. It was a pleasant stay by a clean beach. A very well kept and spacious resort nested among the coconut trees. The lounge area was comfortable to chill, read, or play some boardgames while enjoying the sea breeze. We did a snorkelling and trekking trip, it was worth it! Quite a good amount of fishes while we're in the sea, and the view from the highest point of Sibu island was spectacular. The trek was fun and an adventure! The toilet was very clean, the beds were comfortable to sleep on, and the air was cooling. Food was always sufficient and I loved the Mas Huni! Really enjoyed our stay here. You can feel the attention, care, and love that was poured into this village while they built it. But the best part of it was everyone made us felt at home. Thanks Richard, Jade, Irene, Boi, Ben, Jay, Hafiz, and many more sea gypsies that I didn't had the opportunity to get their names. You guys are awesome!

Very nice and relaxed resort. Not a huge variety of food, but everything was tasty so that was no issue for me.
Lovely kids playground and sandtoys provided. Staff very friendly and helpfull. Will come again.

I spent 4 days on Sibu with my wife and 3 teenage daughters during a family visit to Singapore.
The resort was very helpful with our booking and with the transport to and from Singapore. We had a rough and wet boat crossing to the island, and due to the weather we landed on the western side of the island and had to walk across to the resort. Helpful staff wheeled our bags in wheel barrows and the check-in went smoothly after a well earned welcome drink in the bar.
We were here in mid February, a bit out of season, but the resort did everything possible to make us fell both wanted and welcome.
The food served was good and plenty, and absolutely no problem catering for a vegetarian.
We attended a half day walk around the island and again our guides were very helpful and informative.
I can highly recommend going to Sibu and Sea Gypsy Resort. Next time I will come in season and bring 1 or 2 books more.

I can recommend this small resort I went with some good friends and we all had fun. Great Value I love the rustic clean huts. It's a great places to disconnect (no phone service) this was great and recommend to do occasionally get back to basics!

We spent a full week in Sea Gipsy Village with family. This was one of the best holiday weeks I've spent. Sea Gipsy is well run, relaxed place for scuba diving, snorkeling and swimming. They do not have Wifi, sounds bad, but thats even better - you can consentrate on what you're doing. Staff is great and professional.

Cosy and relaxing paradise! Like me, once you visit once, you'll come back for more. Food is delicious, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the excursions are fun and well-managed. Definitely recommend the snorkeling!

The magic of the spot and family oriented organisation certainly makes up for the basic rooms. The SG team rocks!

Built 28 years ago and refurbished every year it always looks and feels as new. Staff are excellent. Wooden chalets, great beach, great food.

A place that gives peace for your mind and soul. A worthy resort, friendly people, nice food, and a very convenient island near in singapore that you don't need to fly.

This is NOT a luxury resort, this is the true tropical getaway experience. Extremely friendly staff and the clear water is prefect for swimming and diving.
