Khunthai Restaurant @ Butterworth

I still love this place especially the environment, food also pretty nice, Thai's style food is nice and the price also reasonable, the service seems has been improved a bit, speedy food delivery time as well, so I still recommend it😋

Every time I have dinner here, will hear them playing/ singing Birthday song, lots of ppl celebrate their Birthday here, enjoy their food and the environment here. Recommended!

Great food, good price, friendly staff, serving fast, nice environment even hot afternoon also won’t feel hot or sweating.

First time having dinner with a local friend at Butterworth outlet. Plenty of parking space. We ordered Otak2, Seafood Tom Yam, Sambal Petai Udang, Dessert. All were good & tasty. Rice was served in a big bowl so you can eat according to your wish. We ordered the Lemongrass drink but it was too sweet. The toilet was clean too.. Nice place to hang out after a long day at work.

The most wining is the atmosphere, rectangle table, round table with high-hut ceiling and tiki gazebo kind seating. Free ulam is the one i would appreciate as opening appetizer, top 3 food for me is steam squid and clam, pandan chicken, and fried prawn cake, i got abit picky taste on tomyum seafood that day, but inside portion is fairly enough. Lastly, children playground, let your children unleased their remain energy while waiting your food to be prepared. 5 stars overall, food 4.5 star

Good food, great service.

The food is delicious & fresh. The place is nice & spacious. There's a little hut where you can choose to sit & enjoy the food too.

If you crave to eat seafood at a reasonable price in a clean environment with a good service offered then this is the right place to go.

No issues in terms of parking despite of the huge crowd. The shop is always crowded but the owners nor workers never fail to entertain nor take our orders.

In terms of food, from the tomyam soup to the fish and the fried squid each one tasted really good. I personally loved their ginger fish.

The price was also reasonable it only cost us about RM100 plus considering we ordered seafood tomyam, fish, squid & vegetables.

Highly recommended to those who love aunthetic Thai food.

Love the food and ambience. It didn't feel warm even during noon time. We had miang kham, fried calamari, green curry chicken, pandan chicken, sambal asparagus and tomyam chicken. All the dishes were delicious. Prices were reasonable.

Most of the foods are really delicious and very fast service from staffs. You can do early bookings as well if coming in big group. Reasonable price for the foods. Much recommended place.

Wonderful Thai seafood place. Prices are reasonable. Staff very friendly and overall really efficient. Their crabs, prawns etc are always so fresh and sweet. Their fried rice is a must try.

It was the first time for me to try on Thai food here and literally this place satisfied our cravings. If you're craving for authentic Thai cuisine, you can enjoy every dishes here and the price are quite reasonable and affordable as well.

Penang Working Trip

A long drive up to Kulim and then finally back to Mainland Penang for the night was definitely exhausting. By the time we finished our working trip, the sky started to get dark and we arrived at our hotel around 7pm.

Our dinner was 8pm, leaving not much time for us to refresh and prepare. Luckily, our dinner was at Khunthai, perhaps the most well-known Thai restaurant in Butterworth (or the whole Penang). It has been around for ages but this marked my virgin visit to this restaurant.

As expected the place was packed with hungry diners of 1 Malaysia - but service was quite fast and efficient.

◾Miang Kham - love wrapping all the ingredients with daun kadok.
◾Som Tam - everything hit the right notes, and special mention to the addition of cashew nuts for that crunchy texture.. I loved it to the max!
◾pandan chicken - alas! If only the chicken meat was juicier and moist. I suspected that they over-fried it.
◾Thai style steamed clams (lala) - cukup pedas and masam! Apart from the mollusks, I didn't waste the sauce.
◾deep fried fish with Thai chilly sauce - nicely fried fish doused with the lovely chilly sauce, all that left were bones in the end!

Occupying a huge space with plenty of open-air parking spaces, Khunthai has been a firm favourite of Thai food lovers in the northern region. Not sure if they are related to the ones in Klang Valley or not though.

Parking: A lot of outdoor free parking space. Need to use umbrella if it's raining, no roofed walk way till restaurant entrance

Food delicious and price consider cheap. Coconut water fresh.

Halal place but they serve alcoholic drinks. Don't like the hut experience as it was quite warm being confined under a makeshift roof. Seafood absolutely fresh, and we brought colleagues from overseas who couldn't stop saying how good the dishes were
