A rural Bak Kut Teh joint with unforgettable soups. The service this round when I visited was a little lower than the usual level with unfriendly young part-timers. The pork liver was very fresh and had a nice hint of blue ginger in the soup which was a pleasant surprise. Even my friend who is usually more partial towards vegetables than meat, enjoyed the herbal bkt soup and liver soups!

Very nice bak ku teh taste, the soup is nice and very herbal taste, can compete with klang bak ku teh, I think this is the best I found in Johor, and this is just outside of the waterfall, a hidden gem in outskirt of city

The best bak kut teh me and my family ever tasted. The broth is very thick with just the right amount of herbal aroma. We love every thing that we ordered - the famous bat kut teh, pepper stomach soup, braise pig trotters, 梅菜, and mix intestine with wine and ginger. The 油条 is not the fresh and crunchy type but we soak it in the BKT anyway, not a big deal.

The location is pretty remote but Plenty of free parking. We got here about 8.30am on a normal Sunday, we are the first in queue. You have to start the queue and they will take your order. A queue number will be given upon ordering and someone will aside seat for you. Even though is a very popular restaurant but they are very systematic and every single staff we encounter were very friendly :)

We tried many BKT from Johor to Klang to Singapore, this has far exceeded our family expectation. Highly recommended!

This place needs no introduction to people from Johor and Singaporeans. All of their dishes was very tasty, reasonably priced and service was lighting fast. A full packed restaurant but we still get our food in 10minutes.

Must orders are bah kut teh, salted vege, braised pork knuckles and if you are adventurous, the liver and kidney in claypot cooked with herbs and rice wine.

A bit hard to get to but is worth the trip!

Have enjoyed this bak kut teh over the years since before covid. Really love the soup here and nice and tender pork ribs.
Also love the many additional side dishes that you can choose from to go along with your bak kut teh.
The herbal bak kut teh served here is super fragrant, herbal taste is quite thick and you can literally smell the spices and herbs used in the making of the soup.

As it gets really crowded usually on weekends, they have a proper queue system in place already. Different from yesteryears where everyone waits around tables for other diners to finish their meal. It is certainly more organised now where you order in front and they allocate a table to you.

Getting here is troublesome if you do not drive here or get driven here. There is no public transport here. I have managed to grab here from kota tinggi but getting back to the city was troublesome. No Grab from that secluded area back to city. Had to hitch a ride by the roadside or if you are lucky a taxi passes by. So arrange your own driver or go with somebody whom is driving or even rent a car from nearby cities if possible.

Will continue to patronise them regardless of the location.

Kiang Kee Bak Kut Teh (强记肉骨茶) is located at Batu 8, Jalan Mawai, Kampung Haji Mohd Jambi, 81900 Kota Tinggi, Johor, Malaysia. Yup, you read that right, Kota Tinggi. Kiang Kee Bak Kut Teh is actually an hour’s drive away from Johor Bahru. So the big question is whether Kiang Kee Bak Kut Teh is worth the one hour drive, if you’re not enroute to anywhere further up north. That is to say, is Kiang Kee Bak Kut Teh, in Kota Tinggi, worth a day trip in itself? This time, we found out…

Kiang Kee Bak Kut Teh opens from from 730am to 2pm daily except for Mondays and Tuesdays. Hence, we thought it could be a day trip for us to arrive early and have breakfast before spending the rest of the day in Johor Bahru. The drive to Kiang Kee Bak Kut Teh was relatively smooth on a Saturday morning but because of the jam on the Causeway, we were only able to arrive in the late morning. Early lunch was in order.

If you’re coming from Johor, you’ll find Kiang Kee Bak Kut Teh to be on the right side of the road. Parking is available on the gravel spaces next Kiang Kee Bak Kut Teh. After walking into the premise, you’ll first head towards a small little station where you’ll see some menus and that’s also where you’d make orders for your meal.

It was here that we made our orders at Kiang Kee Bak Kut Teh

– 1 person Bak Kut Teh (16RM)
– 1 person Braised Pork Knuckle (14RM)
– Additional You Tiao (Fritters – 2RM)
– Can Drinks (2.5RM)
– 2 bowls of rice (unknown)

First, the Bak Kut Teh at Kiang Kee. The Bak Kut Teh arrived at our table piping hot. The soup was still bubbling and the fragrance was exuding into the ambient air around us. It was great. Initially, we thought that the soup would be rather herbly but we found it to be only mildly herbal and mostly fragrant. Yum. Next, we moved on to the ingredients. There were several pieces of pork ribs in the soup – 4 generous pieces and they were very tender as you can see from the photo above. Within the soup, you’ll also find tau kee (fried beancurd skin), enoki and button mushroom. Ingredients-wise, it was generous. Hence, if you’re here to try out the different dishes, 1 person portion would be good for 2 to share...

A long way from town but definitely well worth it. Very different from all those I've tried in JB town. Lots of Singapore plate vehicle in the parking lot. Place your order at the entrance. Food and drinks gets brought up to your table within 5 minutes.

Soup was damn POWER!! Thick, herbal, full bodied, deep colored and filled with a few different cuts of pork. Pigs trotter been stewed til soft in a good quality dark soya sauce and heaps of herbs and spices, that it melts in the mouth. A little disappointed that the plum vegetable stewed in pork fat was bland and too greasy.

Inclusive of 2 drinks, my bill came up to approximately RM55. Loving it!

Now have Q system, havent been here since covid. Go and have your order taken then you will be issued a q number.

Wait for your number to be called then just go to the table as directed.

Food is still superb! My Thai wife also agreed the BKT is very good.

This outlet is many kms out of the way but worth the drive

Its herbal bak kut teh easily matches those in Selangor and I dare say, punches above some.

It's a big positive difference to the many sad bkt places elsewhere in johor.

We arrived on a Friday, 10am so there was parking and seats available even for the crowd d

My favourite Bak Kut Teh in Malaysia!!! Fresh, delicious, fast service, person taking your order good at recommending, friendly, love the overall experience. Soya sauce, garlic, and chilli are all very fresh. It's worth the drive far from the city.

Came during a public holiday, reached at 9am and could see a queue forming. But everything was systematic, we got our table in <20 mins of waiting time. The soup is so good, that traditional taste cooked from charcoal is the best! not too peppery and meat is so tender! Unlike most bkt we eat the meat is always overcooked and dry. Mui chai is so yummy too!! Good experience. The place is airy too!

I love herbal Bak Kut Teh! This one easily top those those I have tried. The balance of the herbs is just right to the point there’s a certain sweetness to the blend. Thick yet appetising.
For those who like their ribs to still have a bit of bite instead of those that completely melt in your mouth, this is done at the right consistency. Their 茶王 King Tea blend of Chinese tea is also very good. Will come back again.

Crossing the Singapore-Malaysia border and travel one hour for Kiang Kee Bak Kut Teh? ANYTIME !!!!

My all time favourite bak kut teh that will make me think of it time to time. The Singapore version of Bak Kut Teh which is peppery is different from the one you find at Kiang Kee which the black herbal type Bak Kut Teh but they also have a Pepper Pig Stomach Soup for those that like the peppery soup.

Kiang Kee is a very organised place with placing your order at the entrance, be seated at labelled table numbers above your head, eat now pay later mode. Don't hurry to your table, head over to the cooking station and you can see a row of charcoal stove with claypots boiling hot bak kut teh.

We had the Bak Kut Teh for 2 pax, Braised Pork Knuckles with Fried Fritters and Salted Vegetables. The nice aroma of the soup is mixture of their herbal soup and the ingredients cooked with it. Dip the fried fritters in to soak the soup into the fritters. Salted vegetables are also a testimony of every bak kut teh store and I can tell you, Kiang Kee's Salted vegetables don't disappoint you. Braised Pork knuckles are soft and tender, Braised to the point and I had one bowl of rice with the herbal soup base and another bowl of rice with the gravy from the Braised Pork knuckles.

Finally, bak kut teh will never be complete if you don't have teh. Kiang Kee has a few selection of Chinese tea from pu er to Iron Guan Yin. I will recommend to go for Cha Wang which is literally Tea King. Nice aroma and it can add on mild sweetness to your palate when you take another mouth of their soup base.

Staffs are attentive to our requests like another rice and top up of soup base.

Ordered pig trotter, liver, stomach and classic bak kut teh. Preferred the pig liver overall, tender and cooked just at the right texture.

Has to come before 2.30pm or you have to come early as their Bak Ku Teh is subject while stock lasts. If you love a clean and nice environment I will not suggest you to come to this place, the flour is dirty, the table might be dirty although they did clean... But the food is nice. Worth my time to travel 1 hour plus from JB central area down.

Price wise I will say it is cheap, as is the hometown location

Really tasty herbal bak kut teh, with a lot other dishes to add on as well like braised pork knuckles, pickled vegetable, etc. Service is fine with lots of foreign worker attending, sometime even the owner will attend to. Just note that it is open air so it might get warm, but there is plenty of fan circulating the air.

There was already a long queue when we reached for breakfast. I heard from the people that their bak kut teh would be sold out by noon. Despite 20 to 30 pax ahead of us, the waiting time was acceptable. Food will be ordered in advance and be prepared at the kitchen before the staff assigned us a table within an hour time. I was really impressed by the fragrance of the herbs in the bak kut teh! It was really authentic and all of us really enjoyed the hot bowl of soup on a rainy day. We also ordered otah-otah, braised pork knuckle, pepper stomach soup, romaine lettuce, beancurd & enoki mushroom, kidney and fritters. We still enjoyed their signature bak kut teh the best. Will have to consider if we are returning since it's an hour drive from the JB city.

Nice, laid back place for a good breakfast. Ample parking spaces. Came around 10am, still have ample tables. When we left at 11am, more people start coming in. Love the herbal Bak Kut Teh Soup. Nice dark soy sauce to go with the meat. They also have the pig organ soup too. Service is good. Food are promptly served.

Recommended!

Finally, I managed to try this "most famous" BKT aka Bak Kut Teh in Johore. To be exact this place is in Kota Tinggi.

The pork ribs quality and taste is overwhelming. Prime ribs, trotters, tripes, tail are all boiled in a claypot of flavourful herbal black soup.

The liver pot is also interesting, cooked to the level of doneness that makes the liver puffy and creamy on the inside.

This is through years of culinary experience coupled with fresh good quality ingredients.

Again, I am not comparing this to the peppery version, they are Different! It's not even fair to compair.

However, I would dare say this is anytime better than those famous brands in Port Klang which I have tried before.

In conclusion, this is something I will be back because its good and price is reasonable

Visited twice in a trip. (You can tell how good it is).
Much better than the Bak Kut teah opposite to the KSL mall.
The cost is affordable ringgit 46 and 38 resp for two meals (2 persons).
It only operates during lunch hours. And by 2pm all sold out . Recommend to reserve your table on weekends.
