Mr Asampedas Cafe & Restaurant Langkawi

Lovely little local restaurant, beautiful service and ambience! There’s no English menu but the owner explains everything in details to us. The recommended curry set is beautiful! You have to try the special drink mint leaves mocktail, super yummy on a hot day!

All travellers are chasing a truly authentic experience, and at Mr Asampedas we found it. From the outset our host explained the menu, recommended dishes, and guided our choices - taking into account our own wants and preferences. We settled on three set menus and three side dishes. Everything we ate impressed us, but a few honourable mentions have to be the side dishes of fried squid with turmeric and the eggplant. The spicy and sour mackerel curry was also fantastic. Our host was kind and attentive and the food was incredible and reasonably priced. A rare perfect experience. Thank you.

Good honest local flavors served in comfortable homey ambience. Seafood is fresh and curries go excellent w/ rice. Menu entirely in Malay but server was friendly & guided us in English. Meal sets served w/ rice + choice of curry & protein.
👍 yellow curry & seabass: smooth coconut, lemongrass forward.
👍 gulai/curry w/ sting ray: thick smokey curry. Ray is tender w/ lots of flexible bones, but they’re easy to remove.
👍 prawn fritters: crispy thick batter w/ sweet tamarind-peanut dipping sauce

Before taking the First spoon of my much awaited for Asam pedas , the owner JC really made me feel so warm and comfortable.... Strongly recommend this place for a tasty lunch and after a strolling around kuah town on a hot sunny afternoon .... Very very very good service

Really nice malay food in langkawi. Food was very well presented and the place was very clean. Got myself the set of 4 and it was good to feed 5 adults. Daging salai lemak cili padi was amazing. Recommend this place for malay food 👍🏻

A hidden gem in Kuah town as it's located at the back of a few shop lots. We decided to give it a try as it was our last meal in Langkawi.
First impression was that it was a very cozy and beautifully styled cafe. It was very clean and the atmosphere was very welcoming. The owner served us the menu and he has great hospitality.

For the food, we were really impressed. The asam pedas is definitely one of the best we've had so far, and their daging salai masak lemak cili api was amazing too. For the vegetable that we had, sayur campur, it was so good that I could just have that with our rice and still be satisfied.

Would recommend people visiting Kuah town to give this place a try. We were the only customers at that time but they definitely deserve more people.

One of the best and finest malay cuisine I have tasted in Langkawi hands down. Came here after looking for some good asam pedas dishes. Definitely worth the trip. The kuah lemak and kari was out of this world and the taste was an explosion of diverse spices and herbal fragrance in your mouth. Definitely a place to come whenever in Kuah.

Found a hidden gem. Comfortable place with Jaaz music. Very relax and enjoy. I have tried Nasi Daging Asam Pedas and Sotong Goreng Tepung. The taste very delicious! Highly recommended!

1st day in langkawi & had no idea where to hv our 1st lunch. Google-d and found this cafe. Food tastes good & superb service. The waiter was soft spoken & not to forget, the cafe’s vibe so nice! Do try their asam pedas bunga kantan 👍🏻

Awesome experience here! Super friendly and welcoming staff. Recommended a super delicious dark souce chicken for kids meal which my girl thoroughly enjoyed.. the curry and assam pedas wow out of this world... Will definitely come again if in Kuah. I will totally recommend this restaurant. Really loving their food and the ambience and the friendly and kind staff! Love from Singapore!

For the price point and hence quality of ingredients used, flavours were fantastic! Had a sumptuous meal in a good aircon and comfortable environment. Will recommend the set menus, tried the beef and chicken.

Highlight of the town! Highly recommended to locals and tourists to have authentic malay food with a contemporary Malay decor which is very photogenic.Its truly worth going and spending.Great choice for family & friends gathering or just simply a date or meal.Been here several times and the quality of food is simply the best. A must-go dining place!

Found it using google and was highly rated. Good ambience and the food turned out to be awesome. Flavourful, well presented and each dish had a distinct taste with fresh ingredients. Will highly recommend for authentic malay food.

Tip: use google translate for the menu if you are not conversant in malay.

This place sure is a hidden gem!! The food was incredible and delicious!! However, it was a little to spicy for us but alls good!! Really kind and friendly boss and servers!! Love everything about this place!!

Really nice place. I showed up at 5:30 pm and they close at 6 pm. They put a lovely meal for my family together.

Definitely best Malay lunch this trip (LIMA 2023 week)!

We had asam pedals pari (stingray), lemak cili padi daging salai (smoked beef in tumeric coconut gravy), gulai tenggiri (mackerel curry), and cucur udang (prawn fritters).

Very full and very decent price (ie cheap vs KL, more expensive than your roadside warung in Langkawi hehehe) especially for the quality

I really loved the yellow curry! It was one of the best dishes I had in Malaysia. It felt like a very authentic place. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They explained the menu to us, because it was in Malaysian. Make sure to go and eat at this restaurant.
