Came here for breakfast, it was pretty blistering hot (late August).
Really enjoyed the "Cazuela" style cuisine, essentially a baked dish with tomatoes mushrooms and some meat, I got shrimp it was good.
I'd order a side of refried beans, it goes great with the tortilla intended to eat the dish with.

Fantastic breakfast spot with traditional Mexican options (try the cazuela!) and western ones as well (the tropical fruit crepes - yum!). Everything we tried was fantastic and the server was great. The chef even came around to check on us. So friendly and welcoming with amazing food.

Best place for breakfast in Isla Mujeres. The first time I visited this place was 6 years ago and until today the quality of the food is great and the price is very good. The cazuelas are great and the portion is generous. Opens from tuesday to sunday 7am to 1pm.

What an adorable little corner breakfast spot! The food was fantastic and experiencing a cazuela was new. I had walked by several times, and could not try it, because it is only open for breakfast and lunch. I am glad I finally got the chance to go.

I found this place off the beaten path one morning, on my way to the malecon for a run. It had been just set up for opening and looked clean, quaint and inviting. My wife and I ventured back on a Monday morning, hoping for something more local and low key. It was exactly that. I was just along for the ride, as I'm not a huge breakfast fan. However, as soon as I read the description of the House Specialties, which the restaurant is named for, I was all in.
I tried the Cazuela Contoy with Shrimp, Tomatoes and Herbs, my wife had the Cazuela Ranchera with Black Beans, Ham and Salsa. Both were really delicious, and thankfully not as huge as the dishes would make you believe. I say "dishes" because the clay dish that the Cazuela is prepared and served in, is straight out of the oven, to the point it's still bubbling and spewing steam at least three minutes after it arrived on top of a second dish, for carrying to the table. Not an easy feat mind you, when the air temperature is already in the mid-seventy range. Served with fresh corn tortillas, I ate every last bit of it.
The service was wonderful. Coffee and Juices were delicious, and do give their salsas a try. We were fairly warned which of the two was the hot one, but let your tastebuds decide. They were both nice compliments to our meals.
The restaurant is located on a somewhat busy street corner, and the day we visited, there was a pump running across the street to move some flooding from the huge rain storm the night before. Still, it was fun watching folks go by and listening to a couple of local gentlemen who appeared to be having breakfast before heading off to work. Our server was friendly, attentive and polite, and we even were paid a visit by the Owner/Chef at the end of our meal. He was very appreciative of our visit.
We will definitely head here again on future trips.

Attentive service, excellent food, and a good value; I'm sure I'll be back. One thing to note is the portion sizes. They're large. And although I did manage to finish my omelet, while strolling the beach with my shirt off it did occur to me that perhaps stopping 3/4 the way through would have been a better plan.

Lovely place, super homey and cozy. The breakfast was great. Super clean and super nice personnel. I am Italian but I went there with 3 Mexican friends which confirmed the authenticity of the food 🫶🏻

This place is real and authentic Mexican food. The picture does not do it justice, but these are the best chilaquiles I’ve ever had. Anywhere. The portions are super generous and inexpensive. This is a must stop breakfast stop. Service is fast and friendly as well. The walls have pictures of old time Mexican movie stars :)

Well located, very attentive service, food was very good. Mexican dishes with the well known of this region habanero sauce (served on the side), we tried the breakfast cazuela which is some kind of clay plate (very hot at the moment) sides vary depending on what you order, I had the "Cazuela Ranchera" which is a couple tortillas with some refried black beans spread on top of it, a couple pieces of ham and a couple of eggs on a very tasty salsa some tomato and onions, all of this on top of the mentioned clay plate. My wife ordered the "Cazuela Holbox" which was almost same as mine minus the tortillas and the ham, plus some local cheese between the eggs and the beans and some fried plantain on the side.
Be aware!! They only accept cash, no credit cards.

Delicious omelette and crepes, highly recommend this place. The only thing it was a bit loud outside so I recommend eating inside. I think the prices were 160-190 pesos per omelette and 120 for two crepes.

This place is great. Food was excellent, we got the signature cazuela (omelette/casserole dish), and they were delicious. They blend up fresh juices with orange, carrot, and Chaya (like a spinach/lemongrass super food) and it absolutely hit the spot. The owner kept checking in with us himself, making sure our experience was great. Some retirees approached the building with a cane, and he stepped right out, offered his arm for support, and helped them in with a smile. Awesome place.

The best! Cazuelas are an inspiration, a delicious mix of eggs and melted gouda cheese plus a variety of fillings. Order a fresh juice to wash it down.

This place was hands down the best restaurant we ate at while on Isla Mujeres. It’s a great family run eatery with excellent friendly attentive service and beautifully prepared and presented dishes.
