Best donut 🍩 I’ve tried is the Apple donut from Wicho’s Donuts! It looks like a bear paw and is about the size of one.. incredible

A hidden donut place next to a gas station. My uncle recommended me this place. The owner worked at Dunkin Doughnuts so the ingredients and Donuts taste like them. Donuts were really good and even though I didn't get coffee, you could smell it the moment you walk in. A great place to grab a bite while you fill up on gas. I walked from the nearby city to get here that was like a 10 minute walk so it was worth it. Busses past by here so they will stop for you if your heading back to the main city of Oaxaca.

What a treat. Great donuts. Delicious iced coffee. Friendly service. It’s a good old fashioned Los Angeles donut house transported to Tlacolula. Great attention to detail and the best donuts in Oaxaca.

Friendly greeting, clean space, pretty ordinary as far as donut-shop-expectations go for a traveler accustomed to similar joints north of the border. But there's one thing that takes this from a three or four star 'nice' review to a knock-out home-run: The apple doughnut.

Wow. If it weighed less than a pound i'd be surprised. When people talk about the addictive properties of crack, i think of my experiences with dense baked goods.

Now this isn't really an item for one person. I pride myself in my appetite, but i still had to share it. For the normally-addicted this could be considered dessert for three people. This is one greasy, sugary, apple-flavoured industrial food bomb at its finest.

If you're not eating squash vine soup or carpenter ant and chipotle sauce on a freshly made ancestral-style tortilla... If you're tired of tradition and variety and nutrition, and just need to make your inner demons as quiet as a recently-fed baby...
If you're going to buy donuts in the Oaxaca valley, you might as well go all the way. Point your nose towards Tlacolula. Go to Wicho's.

Excellent donuts, though nothing beats Krispy Kreme. Except for Wicho's incomparable apple fritters! But don't try to eat a whole one at once, unless you first soak up the oil with several napkins. They are great microwaved for breakfast, which might help remove some of the grease. They are open 24 hours a day and have hot meals with daily specials, and different kinds of coffee. A must-stop on the Pan-American highway! Even AMLO has eaten here.

We stopped here on our way back from Hierve el Agua. My fourteen year old loves donuts. Fresh, friendly and didn't seem to mind my crappy Spanish! ;)

I worked at Winchell's Donuts in the US for many years. These are better than Winchells ever was.
