Mercado Municipal Martín González

This is the oldest farmers market in Mexico before the colonizers came. This place is fascinating which still offers barter economy for the locals.

Make sure to eat Barbacoa tacos, the best ones in the country. Also the milk chocolate with local bread.

A vibrant mercado that will make you feel like you’ve transported to another world. They sell every kind of fruit, meat, clothing, leather goods and tchotchkes imaginable. You can easily wander in circles here and feel like you haven’t seen it all. Make sure to try the fresh fruits, fried plantains, grilled meats and tajate drink. I loved just people watching, the women here wear traditional garb and it’s so beautifully colorful! Highly recommend visiting this little mountain town mercado during your trip to Oaxaca!

if you have the time and are willing to leave Oaxaca for a day, this market is definitely worth visiting. You can get here for $20 pesos per person for a bus from just outside Centro to this Market.

Lots of vendors for local foods, bread, fruits, crafts at much better prices than in oaxaca. there are lots of foods stands with amazing offerings, we tried this barbacoa and it was delicious! two bowls with tortillas, for $190.

Nice market. The conchas were so good. First stall on the right. Get the flautas too.

We love coming here for tejate. Actually if you go on the week days, you can still find everything with no crowd and with free parking right outside the market.

We went to the Tlacolula market on Sunday, which is the only day it is open I believe.

It was a really fun experience and we had lots of food along the route, although we didn't try the famous barbecoa in the market.

We also bought some souvenirs and small trinkets from various stalls.

Caught the collective from downtown Oaxaca outside of the baseball stadium for 25 pesos, 40 mins later we are at the biggest Sunday market to buy goods, clothes, fresh produce, souvenirs, and fresh "street" food. It's very big, and crowded but a must see to really immerse yourselves in a market where all the local town people gather to sell their items weekly! Bring cash. Bathrooms are $5 pesos

Sunday is market day. A huge selection of merchandise from machete, kitchen wares, fruit, vegetables, meats, coffee, chocolate, clothes, anafre, knives, pad locks, flowers, wonderful bbq goat, rotisserie chickens. Cook your own meat on the charcol fires, custom make your own chocolate blend, get your coffee custom roasted. Hand women baskets and bedspreads. Red clay dishes, green glaze pottery, you can find jeans, underware and aprons. Don't the chapel of martyred saints in the church.

Traditional market of food and you can also grill your meat on the spot and try it. You will find a special section for bread and readymade food, such as traditional goat barbecue.

We came to this local market to get fresh produces for our cooking class 👍🏼👍🏼

This is a huge market, absolutely overflowing with the old and new. You'll see everything from homemade mole, Chile paste, tortilla presses and baskets to some cheap Chinese junk. There is a meat and vegetables market that has grills going in the middle, where you can grill your own food on the spot. We went on a Sunday and there were a lot of traditionally dressed women selling and shopping and balancing baskets on their heads.

The test is very good and i like the dish is lamb

It's a beautiful market! So many people, so many things to buy. You MUST go on a Sunday. :)

Amazing market. You will find everything?

Fun bazaar full of food, leather goods and clothing. Best time to shop is on Sundays when the market spreads for blocks outside of the main market

Great variety and great prices

OMG if you are in the city of Oaxaca you have to go downtown to the markets. The craftsmanship of the local people will blow your mind. Don t miss eating in the market. The kiosks are not the Hilton but the food is fabulous

The best place to eat traditional food and buy hand craft in Oaxaca is a market. That's the reason why I love this market. You will find a special section for breads and food.

If you like real mexican food this place is a great place to visit on weekends i recommend the barbacoa is freshly done.lots of colors, and lots of people from around town
