This place is definitely special! Recommended by a friend who had previously visited and highly recommended. The tomato salad is incredible, exploring and comparing their different tastes is a special experience and the beet vinaigrette they are paired with is tasty! We also enjoyed trying a couple different tamales. The chocolate cake with plantains and mezcal sauce was awesome and decadent. Also adored their lemonade! We lucked out by showing up at 3pm and snagging a table but would recommend making a reservation to ensure you don’t miss out!

This is simply an amazing restaurant with some of the best Oaxacan cuisine I have ever experienced. We were a party of seven, including people who live/work in Oaxaca and three of us visiting from the US. So we ordered a variety of main dishes to share as well as desserts. All of the dishes were delicious and complex in flavor. Foodies will love this place and not be content to only visit once! It would be difficult to pick favorites because each dish has something to commend it.

Not to miss spot! Start with cocktails and apps. The Passionfruit mezcal cocktail was so good we had to keep ordering it. It is very popular and reservations highly recommended. We enjoyed everything we ordered but were especially wowed by the heirloom tomatoes and the black and brown mole dish. So fresh and well made. Go hungry!! plates are large and very shareable. Service was so fantastic, attentive without being overbearing. We happened to be seated near the tortilla station. So amazing to watch how they are made on open fire. This is a restaurant known for its vegan plates. However the non vegan plates are just as good if not better. The chicken and pork mole was to die for; best we have ever had to date. There is a beautiful mural in a side room with a table that showcases all the heirloom tomatoes grown in this region. Needless to say we loved seeing that.

Everything seemed to be a special moment and a full celebration of corn and all its forms. Love the lighting of the candle when you sit, to the open totopos cooking, shippable ceramics, dishes! Were! Delicious! Cocktails were great - I got two. Special meal and the top place I will recommend any friend to visit on their stay in Oaxaca. 🧡✨

A total all-rounder for me. The menu interesting, I wanted to try everything. The service was efficient and relaxed. The place is spacious, so you don’t feel cramped and despite the 14:00 heat, we felt cool. Give them a try we shall be back.

Truly authentic Oaxaca food at its best. Service is great and dining room has a comfortable feel especially with candlelight in the evening. The guacamole, tamales and moles are exceptional. The combo mole negro/ mole coloradito are the star with the later taking the award. The pork is baked with plantains to give it a flavor unlike anything else which combines perfectly with the mole coloradito. This was my second visit and they just continue to blow me away with the food.

We had no reservation but were quickly given a table. What a delicious surprise. The food was amazing ( the black mole!), it was difficult to make a choice from the interesting menu, and the service excellent. And the interior definitly added to the atmosphere. With mains costing 200-300 we found it very reasonably priced. We may actually return!

The quality of the food was exceptional. I'm glad we didn't miss out on the tomato plate!! We also shared a guacamole with chapulines, the shrimp with guava mole and battered cauliflower, the apple cinnamon tamale and the pumpkin cheesecake. I wish they had a degustation menu -- I would have loved to try more dishes! The service was a bit rushed, we had no breaks between one plate and the next, but the servers were nice.

Their wild mushroom soup was so delicious in such a surprising way, with the taste I did not expect from clear tomato broth. Unfortunately I didn’t taste the famous tomato salad since it looked too much for one person. I wish there was a smaller version. Nevertheless, this restaurant was definitely one of my highlights in Oaxaca city (I tried many).

Favorite restaurant in Oaxaca City. Highly recommend the Oaxacan native tomato dish with beet puree as an appetizer to share. The atmosphere is delightful and I recommend making a reservation - we were able to walk in and get a table for lunch one day, but then another we couldn't get a table for dinner. If I recommend one restaurant to people in Oaxaca, it will be this one! :)

Very nice restaurant in the centre of Oaxaca. The place is amazing, probably obtained in a previous court, with arches and columns. The food is excellent, the taste is impossible to describe. The service is perfect, they are gentle.

During my one week stay in Oaxaca, I had the pleasure to visit Levadura de Olla twice. The food is exquisite, very fresh and delicate. The signature tomato salad, pumpkin tamale with shrimp and cereminial mole were my choices. Last but not least, please do go for dessert the oaxacan chocolate cake with mezcal sauce and bananas torched on top was one of the best I ever had.

Thank you so much for a wonderful meal. Sincerely one of my top restaurants in Mexico.

A great restaurant in Oaxaca, we got it recommended by a local chef. The food was great and the service very attentive. The lack of flexibility from the kitchen was a bit strange when we asked for no coriander and not spicy (stomach issues). Would definitely recommend it.

The food was AMAZING. Highly recommended to come here if you want high quality and thoughtful dishes. My husband and I shared several different plates plus desert, all of it was amazing from the salsa, tortillas, moles, and corn dishes. The standouts from the night were the corn soup, assortment of heirloom tomatoes , and the guava pancake desert.

A wonderful place in the heart of Oaxaca City. Authentic recipes with ingredients that you will hardly find anywhere else. They work to preserve ancient ingredients and honor the traditions of those who originated these dishes with a twist of modern techniques and styles :)
Also, I think it is quite affordable for the quality you get, specially for locals like us 💕

Really loved the lunch we had here. It opens at 1 and we arrived 10mins early to try get a walk in, was perfectly fine and we were seated very quickly.

The food was fresh, service was friendly and overall was a great experience. Only note that it was mostly tourists.

5 stars because the food was out of this world!!! I got the potato Amarillo mole - amazing! It was perfectly salted, hearty and just so delicious.

The cocktail was too sweet for me. I didn’t finish it. But the food and atmosphere was excellent. Will return to try the tomato salad.

Nice place for their speciality dishes. The tomato with beetroot puree. Soup was good too. Didn’t much care for the cheese mole. You get a chance to see the chef in action.

Charming.

The service was warm, welcoming and joyful. All staff were friendly and attentive.

The food and drinks were lovely; a modern take of traditional dishes and flavours, with a balance of lightness, freshness, flavour and texture.

It's spacious. We were seated in the smaller room next to the window, so it felt more intimate. Catching the fresh air and light from the window was lovely too.

There were traditional dances from different regions dancing for our duration of dinner, which was a special bonus.

Had a wonderful experience last night! The food and drinks were tasty and beautifully presented. And our waiters were excellent and gave us great recommendations for our 3 year old son! Just be aware the restaurant closes early as we would have loved to stay longer! We will be back for sure!
