The second B&B opened under this name, located in the old town center, in a little laneway just off a busy road. Just 5 min walk from all the tourist areas. Super cute renovated rooms in traditional local handicrafts, with lots of plants and courtyard space. Breakfast included in the morning was very nice, with local cooked foods and vegan options.
Shared common space with lounge, self serve bar and kitchen area.
Staff were exceptionally helpful, booking taxis and ensuring I was confident and knew where to go. Really enjoyed my stay here, and will be back next time I visit Oaxaca.

My husband and I stayed at El Diablo y La Sandia, Boca del Monte on our honeymoon and couldn't have been more pleased. We especially enjoyed the delicious breakfasts with some of the best coffee we had in Oaxaca, the beautifully decorated atmosphere, and the warm and highly helpful staff. On sunny days we also spent time on the roof terrace in the hammock. The value for money was excellent, and the location superb: close enough to walk easily to all of the central attractions, and also just removed enough to have a sense of quiet and peace. We would recommend Boca del Monte to anyone! You will not be disappointed.

READ FIRST: If you are US citizen and subject to COVID testing requirements before re-entering the US after travel to Oaxaca, STAY HERE! Juan Carlos and Maria will arrange for testing to be conducted by San Francisco Labs directly in the privacy of your own room. You’ll have immediate results. It is a dream.

MORE: Maria will welcome you into her beautiful home with the most gracious hospitality. Juan Carlos was amazing! Juan Carlos arranged for all reservation details and handled logistics upon arrival. Taxis, reservations, COVID rapid testing. He’s wonderful! You’ll feel so so loved and treated with the most kindness here.

The rooms are lovely, the beds are SO comfortable, depending on the room you stay in ( I was in Palma ) - your bathroom may have a palm tree for a tropical feel. Hot water and a palm tree are the perfect pairing for ending a fun day in Oaxaca. I sat in the courtyard and just relaxed - it was needed! Breakfast is outstanding and Rosie will take such good care of you at breakfast time.

You might even get to talk to Luken, Maria’s 4 year old. He’s precocious and has a big personality!

Maria will be a great resource for local artisans for textiles and wood art. She has created a map of town that will be invaluable.

The location of this fantastic B&B is also perfect for exploring.

Go to Oaxaca! Stay with Maria!

An amazingly quaint place. It has the feel of a small peaceful garden. Location is great for couples, not for families with small children. A 7 minute very hilly walk into downtown with a ton of traffic. You pass tons of great shops and restaurants, but call a cab if you're not spry or dragging crumb-grabbers around.

Great spot to stay while in Oaxaca. The staff are really nice, breakfast is lovely and it’s well situated. The rooms are beautiful, no AC but a big fan that did the trick.

Great family-run place. Friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast. Self-service honor bar. You can use the kitchen. No a/c -- unnecessary now (Jan 2018)... don't know about other times of year.

Staying here feels like you're staying with family. The owners are such kind and grounded people and it shows in their business, from the relaxed bohemian vibes of the grounds to the daily tradition of communal breakfast with all the guests. We loved the dog Bowie, and the rooftop garden and lounge. We stayed a night and then headed back to Mexico City, only to find our Aeromexico flight was unexpectedly canceled. We called El diablo y La Sandia at 11pm and they took us in without any notice and made a bad situation much better. We poured two mezcals from the honor bar and drifted into sleep on the incredibly comfortable beds. Muchas gracias!

Muy buen lugar para estar cerca de todo, pero apartado del ruido y el bullicio, muy buenos desayunos, excelente concepto de sentarse en mesa compartida con el resto de los huéspedes
