I love this market! Comparing to 20 de Noviembre, this market is less tourist-target, more localized. And this market is more bright and clean. Super recommend Tamales geno! Their tamales is really good! But to-go only.

Fonda Florecita at the back of the Mercado... I can't imagine a more authentic Oaxacan breakfast (maybe add some tasajo or a tlayuda?)... Mercado breakfast. Hot chocolate (we chose water-based option), bread for dipping, empanadas (huitlacoche and quesillo cheese). Delicious!

("empanada" is an over-loaded term in México and can mean many different things. Yes, this is an empanada, even though it is more like a folded quesadilla with a hard tortilla)

Went there after being told great things about the breakfasts there and I was not disappointed. Very authentic food with many options, quick service and low price! Don’t miss on it!

Best breakfast ever! The market is one side and the eating/restaurant is ont he other side. We ate at the Floresita, they are all the way in the back. My food was great. I had a small Tlayuda.

Mercado de la Merced in Oaxaca is a clean, colorful and calm mercado filled with fresh and unique produce. My favorite finds were the variety of mushrooms. And I always enjoy buying from the Abuelas who sit on the ground with their fresh flowers and herbs from the mountains.

I enjoyed a delicious warm cup of foamy chocolate at Comedor de Mary, Chocolate y Atole… prepared the traditional way.

Local market to shop fresh flowers, food and cuisine stalls at the back. Plenty of options between the many fondas (small eatery venues) available. Cheap and hearty food.

This is a wonderful little mercado, less than a mile east of the Zócalo. Many vendors of meat and produce, and a large dining area for prepared food. Not as big as Mercado Sánchez Pascuas, but it’s also a little less busy and it’s friendlier. There’s also a nice little cheese shop with items that you won’t find at a tienda. There also are more vendors across Morelos and a very good seafood shop right down the street from the southeast entrance. (Google maps is currently showing the market nearly half a mile east of where it really is, so I added a couple of photos. It’s on the west side of Nicolás del Puerto, between Morelos and Murguía).

Many kinds of food to buy for home, vegetables, fruits, cheese, meats, everything.
Also food to eat there.
Prices varey, some cheap and some expensive.
Very delicious, authentic.
Worth a visit.

I liked the most the Rosita resturant,
Good value for money and delicious.
They are inside the mercado and color is orange.

Must visit for little local finds but most importantly for the most DELICIOUS mole con arroz (mole w/ rice). Got it with cheese instead of meat, and the taste has stayed our my minds!

Chilaquiles and enfrijoladas for breakfast at Fonda Rosita can’t be beat. Good selection of produce and groceries, not as big or hectic as the other markets in the centro

Had mole at Comedor Lupita’s (not Lupita’s). Very authentic and extremely inexpensive. Was a challenge finding it but a fun hunt.

Great neighborhood mercado. Not as crowded as the bigger ones in Centro. Mostly food stuff.
Good restaurant area as well.

One of the best markets we visited in Mexico. Amazing food (check out Fonda) and all kinds of fresh produce. Picked up chilies, hot sauces and all sorts of goodies!

My absolutely favorite market in Oaxaca City! It's not so crowded and smaller like the markets around the Zocalo. I love the big but cozy dining area. It's the perfect place for a long breakfast with family and friends!

Great locals market with fresh and prepared foods, assorted household items, flowers and other mercado type items. Great food section - Fonda Rosita has some tasty tlayudas and platos fuertes.

Well located, friendly vendors, excellent selection of cood and raw foods as well as flowers and some home essentials. The kind of place I'd go shopping if I lived in the area.

Masks required and worn and hand wash stations at the entrances.
