Casa Taviche

I love the aesthetic of this place. Bright and colorful design.
I came here for brunch and ordered the omelette that comes with tortillas and a trio of sauces. Very much enjoyed the meal here.
The coffee americano was great. I had to order two!
Service staff was very friendly and accommodating with my poor Spanish speaking skills.

Fantastic. Lovely courtyard. The tuna we had was unbelievably fresh and good. The mezcal is eh, but perhaps just not our taste. The food and the atmosphere, the people, all the best things. If you have Armando as your host on your food journey, #win.

The food here is outstanding…authentic Oaxacan with many creative additions, a caring and conscientious staff, and they deftly accommodate gluten-free. As a celiac, I can’t overstate how awesome it was to enjoy such a variety of options (yes, I ate here 4 times!) especially the chicken mole, which was totally safe. The menu is not marked gf so you need to specify your requirements and they will happily ask the chef. It’s not cheap but worth every penny… and still cheaper than places near Saint Domingo. That’s why you see tourists, locals, and expats all enjoying the place. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxing and I saw many women dining alone, as I did, with total comfort. I enjoyed fish, chicken, shrimp, different salads, cappuccino and especially their Luna Sangre cocktail. Don’t miss this place!

Such a sweet Restaurante. Open air, the kitchen nearby, friendly faces all add up to a wonderful atmosphere.

We had one of everything and every meal was divine and eaten entirely. There are meals that are specific to Oaxaca and many that are more generally Mexican.

You must try the homemade juices.

In the end, everything on the menu is divine. And there are vegan and vegetarian options.

Our first meal in Oaxaca was rendered unforgettable by this restaurant - not a thing could’ve been made better. We ordered 3 dishes and a cocktail from their ever-changing menu with the aguachile being the resounding highlight! Their creative menu should not be missed.

Delicious food. Had the quinoa croquettes (a little dry but tasty) and portobellos mushroom main and chicken main. Nice touch to have a man singing with guitar (and he was very good too) but awkward when he’s coming and asking you for a tip at the table in the middle of your meal, just a bit off putting.

What a lovely experience! Just went for brunch and already planning to return. Firstly the place is beautiful, bright, colorful and clean. The drinks and food were also incredible. I tried the mango smoothie, the cardamom kick to it is really delicious. Then we tried the avocado and the mushroom toast and added eggs and bacon. So yummy! I will be back there for sure! ;)
Part 2: I did return the following day and had the best Chilaquiles salsa roja I've ever had! So far this is my favorite place in Oaxaca! 😍

Very well taken care of place with attentive and speedy service. The menu is also in English, which was perfect since our Spanish is more than limited. As a starter, we had chevice, which was super tasty. As mains, we had the portobello with mole and my partner had the pork. Portobello and mole was a total hit, but my husband found the pork a bit on the dry side but still very tasty. Presentation of all the plates was really great.

What a lovely little nook! Nice garden area with seating and plenty of natural light. The food is healthy and delicious and the presentation is a delight. They’ll provide as many of the tostaditas as you would like the eat and the fresh salsa was muy rico. We loved the mezcalita oaxaca cocktail (which shows off the mezcal). Staff were very warm but not at all pushy about anything. Grateful!

Best kept secret in Oaxaca. The food here is top notch. Everything tasted incredibly flavourful. We started with the chicken soup and salad. The presentation of the salad was exquisite. Fresh veggies an micro greens hemmed in by a circle of perfectly sliced avacados. The pork main was hearty with a unique mole not usually seen in Oax city. The chef here is making a name for themselves. Bravo.

We enjoyed our lunch today at Casa Taviche. We were with a large group of 15 and the service was top notch. Our mesera gave us great recommendations and was so patient with all of our questions. I has Huevos de Casa Taviche. Delicious!

Really beautiful food, not too expensive. Between this and casa Oaxaca for my favourite meals in Oaxaca. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we had, especially the tacos and Carajillos.

Perfect chocolate tamal with real berries and mame ice cream! The service is fantastic. The amount and the quality of the food is a bargain for the price!

Stumbled here on our first night in Oaxaca and it did not disappoint! We had our favorite ceviche of the trip at this spot! Also great drinks. Super cute decor and great to go with a small group of friends.

We loved our meal here! Delicious, fresh cooking with a twist on traditional dishes. The dining room is lovely, light and lined with foliage. Highly recommend.

We went twice in our 2 weeks in Oaxaca since it was so good. The menu changes often (if not daily) and everything is delicious. The cocktails are some of the best we had and our server was helpful and friendly.

This is our second summer in Oaxaca. We have eaten in many restaurants and Casa Taviche is the best food and service. It’s a casual and relaxed atmosphere with exceptional food at very reasonable prices. The menu changes regularly so we go several times during the week and each time is new and delicious. The freshness of the ingredients and the skill in preparation is without peer. It’s our favorite.
