We had a very nice stay at Hotel de Mendoza. The staff were very nice to us, and offered to help with our trip. They could explain things in both Spanish and English very well. Our room was clean and well taken care of. The location is very convenient and we were able to walk most places we wanted to see. The pool was a nice touch and the rooftop terrace was great as well. I would definitely return! My only note is that the wifi is not very reliable, the service pops in and out. This did not negatively affect our stay, but if you needed Wi-Fi for work, you may have to go to cafes.

An unbeatable location in the historic area. My wife and I stayed the Hotel Mendoza for three nights. The rooms were a reasonable size, and spotlessly clean. The hotel staff were courteous and friendly. I ate breakfast in the hotel three days in a row.

The hotel has a beautiful roof top carriers that gives good views of the area with some excellent photograph opportunities.

This hotel is a must for anyone traveling to Guadalajara the staff was very friendly and helpful this was our first trip to the city and what a awesome experience. It is in the central historic of the city and the old architecture is just off the charts in this historic area. The Hotel its self is older yes but beautifully maintained we loved the older furnishings and decor and you can tell the staff take much pride in the building they work in. We will return again in the very near future we absolutely loved our stay !!

Beautiful hotel with gorgeous interiors and rooms. I've stayed at two different rooms here on two separate occasions - each room was spacious and with comfortable beds. One of the rooms had a balcony with a view of the nearby temple - spectacular! WiFi worked great in both rooms too.

The hotel felt very safe, and there were always at least two staff in the lobby ready to help you at any hour, even at 3am. Staff were always friendly and helpful. The location is also perfect, as it's right in the middle of the scenic historic center of the city. A short walk away from the hotel and you quickly find yourself in front of historic buildings. If you need food or beverages, there are convenience stores and restaurants just a short walk away too. They do have their own hotel restaurant but I didn't have a chance to try it.

Will definitely stay here again next time I'm in the city. Muchas gracias, Hotel de Mendoza!

Excellent city-center hotel. Full marks.

The Mendoza is one of those rare city hotels that basically has everything.

The location is superb, just a few yards from Teatro Degollado and right across the square from Guadalajara cathedral.

Service is frankly impeccable, and the rooms are spacious and clean, with comfortable beds.

Prices are fair, given the overall quality of the hotel, and there's even underground parking.

I'll be staying here again, next time I'm in town.

Unique hotel with great views of the cathedral, plaza, and theater. If you are not lucky enough to have a view of the lighted cathedral at night the hotel has a rooftop that affords views in every direction. Every corner of the hotel has something different and unique to take in. Rooms are spacious and well decorated. Price is affordable, less than $100 per night. Service was good, parking secure, and amenities ok. We didn't particularly care for the restaurant but food was still OK. Our thermostat never worked properly but it was a small price to pay for such a unique stay.

The Hotel De Mendoza, built in 1968, is located in the area that dates from the 16th century where the Convent of Santa Maria de Gracia was located, occupied by the Dominican nuns, which also served as a girls' school.

The Hotel De Mendoza preserved its colonial architecture, the furniture in the rooms was hand painted by Alejandro Rangel Hidalgo, originally from Colima, famous worldwide who established his own “Rangeliano” style. Paintings by the Mexican artist Agustín Parra, who produced artwork for Pope John Paul II, adorn some of the walls as well as a beautiful mural painted by the Michoacan artist José Maria Servin who has been awarded internationally.

Great hotel, it has old world charm with great hospitality. Everywhere is really clean, there is so much charm and the staff are very friendly and courteous. The beds are comfortable and the shower us amazing. It was so quiet in our room. Do not miss spending some time on the rooftop looking out I get the city, especially as the sun goes down and the city lights up.

I booked the hotel without knowing what to expect. It has been a very nice experience so far. The people at the front desk gave me my room right away as they saw how tired I was from my trip to Guadalajara.
I had dinner at the restaurant and found it quite nice. Not too bad but I have found other restaurants in the area are a little bit better.
The maid cleaning my room on the 4th floor does a great job everyday. I come back from my outings to a very nice and clean room. And she is very nice and gives me directions to places.
So far the experience has been good. I give it 4.5 stars. But since there is no 4.5 it will show as a 5 star rating.
I will definitely will come back and stay here again.

After staying here, I won't stay anywhere else in Guadalajara. Clean, classy, not flashy but very tasteful with personable and helpful staff. A quiet oasis in the city close to everything you want to see in the historic center. It felt safe as a solo traveler to come and go after dark. Loved the rooftop terrace with 360 view of the city.

Very highly Recommend. This is an update to my previous review, as this is my fourth stay here. The rooms are clean and the staff are very friendly and responsive. Great roof view of the city. Only improvement I would recommend in an otherwise perfect experience would be for them to fix their bathtub drain lines since they drain very slowly. The first three nights I ended up showering with water up to my ankles due to the slow drain. Three mornings in a row I complained at the front desk and was told by the personnel they would send someone to fix it. No change in drain rate. Finally they admitted that a number of rooms on that line had that same problem and they could do nothing about it. I even spoke to their maintenance person who said the same thing. So they moved me to another room on a different floor with the same problem but this time the water, while slow to drain, didn't come up to my ankles during a short 3 minute shower, but it was 1-2 inches deep. A friend of mine complained about the hard beds, but while they are a bit stiff, to me they were comfortable to sleep in. I should rightly give this a 3 or 4 star review due to the delayed maintenance and occasional tired/overall worn look of furnishings, faucets, towels, etc, but THE LOCATION and staff friendliness pushes it to the TOP of available choices in the downtown area. They are also painting around the hotel which helps. Rosendo, who works in the restaurant, is a prime example of someone who made our stay worthwhile!! We tried a couple other nearby hotels to consider for future visits, and while they were newer, they were "colder", more "sterile" and didn't compare in the heartfelt old town classiness and comfort afforded by this marvelous hotel. I'd love to talk to the owner/manager about more detailed feedback to help them since I travel throughout the world a lot. But suffice it to say that the Hotel de Mendoza is a must-stay locale in the heart of Guadalajara.

This is an amazing hotel. The workers here are very friendly. Our Junior Suite was perfect. There is nothing about our room I would change.
We ate in the restaurant twice and had decent meals.
The pool is freezing and the hot tub is not a hot tub. It's water is connected to the pool so the water is just as cold as the pools water. My husband still enjoyed the pool by using a floaty. I enjoyed the pool surroundings. It is in a beautiful courtyard with plenty of plants.
There are many safety protocols in place and the rules were followed by the workers.
We hope to be back here soon and we would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Simply fabulous hotel in the heart of Guadalajara! Clean and elegant rooms, excellent restaurant (Best food in the area), well-trained and friendly knowledgeable staff, and close to the best sites of central Guadalajara. I don't usually write reviews, but in this case the Mendoza certainly deserves the 5 stars I gave it.
