The staff are friendly and helpful. The interviewer was nice and the entire process took 1 and half hour. If you go little early, you can enter little early before your appointment time too..Cellphone and electronic watches are not allowed..There are locker facilities nearby but it cost 100 peso.

I went to stamp my US work visa/H1B (renewal). I am an Indian passport holder. My appointment was at 8:15 am. I reached at 7 AM. The queue was about 2 blocks long on the road. Phones or anything digital like smart watches not allowed. Locker services available for ~100 pesos nearby. Just walk around and you will see "Lockers" sign. You stand in the queue once phone is given away. Staff come and check your documents and separate you into Tourist visa queue vs Others. Ask few times to ensure that you are in the right queue because I was initially kept on the tourist line and had to check again to move to the other queue. I just took the document folder and wallet (phone in locker).
1. Security checks your stuff and you walk through a detector
2. Once inside, they check your name against their appointment list
3. Then staff will check your passport and put passport, I797A and DS160 together and tie with a rubber band and will give you and ask you to wait in an area.
4. Another staff will come take that set of documents from you and later another officer gives it back to you with an MRV stamp on DS160.
5. Now, you go and stand in a line for the interview. For me Interview was simple. I didn't have my degree at hand, so I got 221G, but they said soft copy is good enough, and asked me to come back at 3 PM when I requested an early processing if possible.
6. I sent the documents as soon as I got my phone in hand.
7. With so much anxiety I went back at 3 PM, (no need to store your phone at this point again in lockers, but I did because I didn't know). I got my passport with stamped visa the same day as my interview. Phewwww !!

I have to give 5 stars. I was stressed over the arrival of my renewed passport. We had many exchanges, and an agent called me personally to flag my passport so I could receive it as soon as it entered the consulate. Super helpful and very nice staff inside. Thank you!

US Passport Lost. Amazing Help from the Consulate!

I lost my US passport in Guadalajara. Visited the US Consulate at 8am standing in long line. Security asked what I was there for, pulled me out as I was in wrong line on the wrong side of building. Hand delivered me to the correct people and it truly only got better. Each person was amazing, helpful and kind. I needed an Emergency Passport to get back home and everyone was so helpful, even the cafe across the street holding my cellphone as no electronics permitted inside. I live full time in Baja, MX, so I can say the service and courtesy was not extended only to me as a gringo or US citizen, but to everyone at the Consulate, no matter your nationality. Honestly one of the best customer experiences I have had in a long time and was able to get my Emergency Passport in a single day. You must have two passport photos and the documents filled out. I was able to complete both near the consulate for less than $10 USD. Thanks Guadalajara, always impressed.

We arrived on time and there was no line, after a quick documents check we were inside. I was allowed to bring my car keys with me. Social distancing is strictly enforced inside the building along with higienic measures. The line moved reasonably quickly and the staff were professional and respectful at all times. People that needs accommodations were moved to another line for faster service, which is a good thing. Overall a good experience

Pretty hectic and stressful to have all the documents and need to have everything exactly and finding available appointments are long and not easy but besides that, it was good.

but the guard deserves a raise. almost falling asleep.

My brother was stuck down there without his citizenship papers after being mugged in Guadalajara. He went to this embassy to get back home safely. He is bilingual but slow due to a disability and because of this they questioned him and his legitimate US-born-citizenship repeatedly and made a joke of him and laughing at him. After verifying who he was and the fact that he was 💯 correct, he cursed them out and demanded they pay his ticket back home to which they did...embarrassingly. 😂 lol Chulada !
