Fantastic market where you can shop and eat before the boat ride. I suggest you buy tickets in advance. There is a man in front of the ticket booth who will take your name and confirmation number and give you a ticket. The line gets incredibly long for tickets.

I also suggest getting in line for the actual boats. They count you off based on how many will fit into the boat and getting on your boat last (the side the boat faces when moving forward) will give you front row seats to the show.

You will have to pay for toilet paper so bring some wet wipes and your own row.

Great place to get on the trajineras, see the show and enjoy some good food!

Also recommend that you walk down the long road and to the first intersection as that'll shave off around 200-300 pesos of your uber

Great place to unwind from city
When you reach the location try to find someone to share the boat with you before asking any one in the place as they will not allow grouping
Act as u came from your hotel and rent the the full boat for 2000 to reach the dead island
Personally I prefer to take it alone for better peace and enjoy the place

Best micheladas in town, for real. I didn't try any food but the setting and the background is nothing else than great. Music is there, you can enjoy a boat joyride or simply sitting there and getting drunk. Either way you're going to have a good time.

Came here with no expectations, and it turns out to be the highlights of my Mexico City trip. 10/10 recommend

Fun place. Worth visiting if you have never been here before. Best to come in a group because boats are fixed hourly rates regardless of the group size. Each boat can fit up to 20 people.

Food is fixed price at 180 pesos/set no matter what dish you order. Food was quite good.

The mariachi was so so quality, at least the one that performed for us. Cost is 150 pesos per song, so it pays to come with a large group.

The biggest drawback to this place must be congestion. There are way too many boats here. if you come looking for a tranquil ride down the canal, you will be disappointed.

At the southern end of the grandiose Mexico City is a network of 180 kilometers (112 miles) of canals originally constructed by the Aztecs; they used to connect with the now landfilled Lake Texcoco to the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan (now, Mexico City's Zócalo). Today, it is a relaxing, rural-like landscape that welcomes tourists, families, and groups of friends who bring their parties & gatherings to colorfully decorated wooden floats called Trajineras navigated by generations of Remeros who push the floats with thick wooden poles that bury into the canal bed. Artificial islands called chinampas are used for ornamental plant nurseries, farms, and illegally settled homes. The whole park is under an ecological revival with many local and migratory birds making this their temporary homes due to the abundance of available food.
You negotiate with the men on the 'embarcadero' who take turns on whose trajinera will be used. It's a flat charge for the trajinera no matter how many people (20 max). The tours will vary from one hour (up & down main canal) to 4 hours (isla de muñecas). We did the 3 hour tour, negotiated to 1,300 mx ($65). This one stops at a native salamander relative sanctuary & isla la Llorona (crying lady) about a local legend. Touring around in this beautiful landscape enjoying food and drinks.
It was well worth it and our Remeros tip was well deserved!

Nice relaxing day. We were debating whether to visit this place but we we're glad we did. There were three in our group but we found a single guy and another group of 4 so we all shared the boat to cut costs. Boats could easily hold 15-20 so we had plenty of room with the 8 of us. We took the longest tour to visit the island of the dolls. Pretty creepy.

Super fun! Bring a large group, itll be cheaper. If youre traveling small, i recommend making friends with other tourist and pretending you all are traveling together and share the same boat. Our guide was really nice, worked extra hard to take us further than we paid for and was very lgbt friendly. If you are an animal lover, skip the "aquarium" island. Itll make you cringe. Dont forget to bring snacks and drinks and some for your guide too!

tbhxcellent. For the trajineras (boats) they accept credit cards, but keep some cash for food and beverages (and restrooms)! You can bring your own food, alcohol is allowed ;)

This was by far one of the most pleasantly surprising activities we did while in Mexico City. The uber there was a bit more expensive than some of our other trips, but well worth it. When you get there, you can go to a number of stalls and buy beer to bring with you on the boats. I would suggest thinking ahead and buying some mezcal or mixed drinks beforehand and snacks to bring with you. There are food stalls on land, but they weren't our favourites. We had such a great time doing this.

Amazing experience at Xochimilco. It's a must do in Mexico City! Bring drinks and snacks while you're there :) but even if you come empty handed, there are plenty of vendors on boats selling snacks, treats, elote y esquites, cerveza, soda, and micheladas.

We were charged 2,100 MXN for the entire boat. We were only 5 so it really is more cost effective if you have a large group.

3 hour rides are fun. Eat before the ride or bring food with you. Very friendly people.

We were recommended this embarcadero and went because it had easy access to the freeway. We loved that it was way quieter than others, though because we went on a Tuesday evening, most restaurants were closed, so that's something to keep in mind. We ordered blue corn quesadillas, which were amazing.

A must go for any tourist in Mexico city.
You can take a tour of 1 to 4 hours on a Trajinera (boat) to see different routs of the amazing ecological reserve of Xochimilco.
Best enjoyed with larger groups of 4 to 20 people.
You can bring your own music, drinks, food, or buy it on board from different boats offering it.

We went as a group of 8 adults and four kids for nearly three hours on a nice day and had a great time! The price was mxp 500 per hour for the boat even on this busy day (though we did come early). Also left a nice tip for our boat driver who had stories to share (always good to have at least one Spanish speaker) and was helpful with some local knowledge (though I’m sure he got a bit of a kickback from his “preferred” vendors). Picked up a bucket of cold beers from a boat vendor and paid mxp 30 per bottle we drank which they counted after our tour (convenient). There are bathroom stops along the way (mxp 6 per user), various food and other stuff vendors, mariachi bands (mxp 150 per song), and plenty of fun to be had.

Xochimilco has several “harbors” (embarcaderos). This one is not the first one (original) but it offers a fastest way to get a boat (trajinera), good food, and access to the Ecological Park.

We enjoyed the fact that we were alone, the canals were clean, we ordered beers, chips, and fresh mangoes with chili. Delicious!

My children enjoyed it a lot.
