The chicken pastilla was amazing. The outside was very crunchy and the honey goes well with it. There was a small menu with 3 main dish options and a special dish. Each set had a Moroccan salad, main dish, and dessert for a reasonable price. We’re planning to go back because the chicken pastilla was the best thing we’ve eaten here. Highly recommend.

Whatever I say will not properly give this restaurant the praise it deserves. The moment you enter, you are welcomed in a way that feels you are being hosted by a kind family in their home rather than going to eat in a restaurant. There are 3 menues to pick from, but because we were fasting in Ramadan and had booked to break our fast, they had prepared a special meal for us! They even prepared one of the dishes in the menu in addition when we asked for it, and even served us bits of their own dishes they had prepared for themselves to break their fast!
This is a family run business as we had met the owner, his son, his wife, who cooks certain dishes and were told other dishes are also the specialty of the mother in law. The food was extremely tasty, made with care, and a wonderful representation of the Moroccan cuisine. I wholeheartedly recommend Dar Hatim, so make sure you stop by them for a meal if you visit Fes. Note for tourists: try to find and navigate your way to the restaurant earlier in the day, as it might be tricky to find the place at night if you still haven't gotten used to the narrow winding roads of Fes, so it’s best to know your bearings for later. There are ample signs in the streets guiding you to the restaurant once you get close, though.

Its a family owner restaurant where the food is tasty and simply great. We had the best tagine of the whole trip in this restaurant and kept talking about it during the rest of our trip. The staff is super welcoming and nice where the service is impeccable. It is a great restaurant which i would recommend all my friends that would visit Fez in the future

The places is still simply extraordinary. A family restaurant where you are literally in their house. The house built in the 9th century with exquisite decorating. The food was perfect, full of flavor and taste but feeling light and healthy. Finally the service : clear and friendly so you can enjoy the moment. Highly recommended!

Best food of our trip! We are a few days in on a week long trip in Morocco and this is the best food we’ve had. The atmosphere is really great and the staff very kind and welcoming. Highly recommend paying them a visit!

Limited menu, but honestly the best authentic, real Moroccan food in all of Fez. Ran by a family which means the closest thing us tourists will get to home food. They are extremely hospitable and they actually will cook whatever dish you want to try- off the menu, if you call a day in advance. I am super picky and am spoiled with liking foods full of taste and delicious spices. Extremely recommend it. Hiddden gem but worth it! I had the chicken bastilla which I actually started not liking as it’s usually dry, but here it was moist and delicious. You get a lot of food for the price!

BEST REATAURANT IN FES! Great food. Only lamb tagine in FES where the meat falls off the bone. Only restaurant that serves warm starter dips/salads - so many serve them cold right out of the refrigerator. Fixed price menu might feel slightly pricey at 220 or 250 but with all of the courses it’s very very reasonable. Dessert was phenomenal! Dar Hatim is actually a great deal - worse food and worse service in fancier places will cost you double. The owner even picked us up in his car to bring us to dinner and returned us home! Family business with the best food and best service! Can’t recommend it more! Fixed menu doesn’t include local tax or drinks.

My husband saw this restaurant on Lonely Planet and our hotel also recommend it.

I am very glad we went! The experience was absolutely incredible. It is quite hard to believe you are in someone’s house. The place is stunning.

The food was delicious, the portions were generous and it felt very authentic.

The owner is a lovely lady that engages with customers, tells the story of the house and explains every dish. She was very lovely.

It is a family owned and operated business and you can tell they work very hard! The husband is the driver (they pick you up from your hotel and then drip you off), mother in law and sister are in the kitchen.

This is not a cheap restaurant, and it should not be. The amount of work that they put in it is incredible.

Next time we are in Fes we will try to arrange a cooking class :)

Was looking at restaurants recommended in Fes and most comments seemed to suggest that
most places around the Medina were tourists traps. Dar Hatim seemed to be our best shot so we decided to give it a try. Booked easily via WhatsApp call , spoke English well so communication was easy. Getting there was ok - neighbourhood not exactly touristic so I wouldn’t go late at night , but not too difficult to reach . Restaurant has 3 fixed menus . Salad starters , Pastilla or lamb main course , ice cream and Moroccan pastries as deserts. Between 2 adults and young kids we opted to get one of each menu. The food was excellent and worth the money paid . Some other reviews had mentioned it’s slightly pricey . However why not spend a bit more and get genuine food in a lovely decor. I would strongly recommend and would go again .

Couldn’t fault the wonderful evening we had at Dar Hatim - the restaurant was a wonderfully decorated family home with the whole team serving us members of the family. The Lamb Tagine was outstanding and the Tiramisu icecream was the best we’ve had the whole trip. We were extremely well looked after with both a pick up and drop off service home - this was SO appreciated after a long and stressful day of getting lost in the Medina. 10/10 experience that I would recommend to everyone. Book in advance as they are very popular ✨✨✨ thank you again!! Xx

We met the hostess of the restaurant at her Riad (hotel), because we were curious about the rooftop terrace. It was no problem for is to see it, even though we did not stay at the riad. After she showed us her riad and having a cup of coffee, she told us about this restaurant. We were immediately enthusiast about this, because she was so kind and hospitable.
The hostess of the restaurant immediately recognized us when we walked in, which was very pleasant.
The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice and peaceful. The food was very delicious and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. When we left, we even got a ride to a panoramic view of Fez from her husband.
We really recommend this place if you are visiting Fez. You will not be disappointed!

Thank you very much for everything!

Very good restaurant. The host is extremely friendly and helpful. The food is excellent, very authentic, and one of the best meals we had in Fes. A bit pricey, but definitely worth it.

We had the best dinner here in Morocco this far! Great atmosphere, service and food. A really traditional restaurant experience and totally worth the price. They also made sure that dietary needs were met, and we enjoyed a full 3-course meal made gluten free as we are coeliacs. The restaurant prepared special options for us and we felt at home here. Thank you so much for this experience!

Authentic Moroccan experience, in an absolutely magnificent home. The cooking was easily worthy of a Michelin Star (lamb tagine from a family recipe was a highlight) and the setting a living museum. My highlight of Morocco.

More of an experience than just a place to eat. The decor inside is wonderful and you are treated like family, while dining in the owners place. The food was absolutely delicious and unique. The cool part too, is that they pick you up in a vehicle (no cost) and drop you back off at your accommodation to make that part of your dinner stress free. Would highly recommend making a reservation if you are visiting Fes, Morocco.

A restaurant in Fes like no other. Karima and Fouad welcomed us into their home/restaurant like family. When you’ve navigated the rabbit warren of the Medina, the doors of the riad open unto a space unlike any other. The meticulous detail of the riad wouldn’t be out of place in an exquisite museum.

The food and the hosting was nothing short of exceptional. Karima is the queen of lamb tajine. Once you have hers, nothing else will compare. Between 4 of us we shared the lamb tajine, stewed lamb and pastilla options. Well worth doing.

Karima and Faoud’s warmth, passion and cooking talents and enthusiasm are unrivalled.

The only thing that would have made it better is if we were to stay in the Riad (or the one they’re building next door)

We cannot wait to come back! Thank you!

One of our best meals in Morocco so far. Our host was incredible and the food was delicious. A definite stop for dinner for a traditional meal at a descent price. They also serve wine....which can be hard to come by in Morocco

We both had the turkey kabobs for 150 durhams which included Moroccan salad to start, Turkey skewers, and fruit dessert to finish!

Family run resto in beautiful place. Set menu only, a bit pricey but worth the experience, food and service. Lovely set of entree, and the casatta ice cream is to die for...

Best place to eat in Fes… and not only. After a week of travelling and experiencing Morocco, we found this family owned restaurant. Everything is traditional, prepared by the family in the house.
