A really beautiful camp, right next to the artwork of Hansjörg Voth. If you want to see the artwork I would recommend visiting Bachir for a delicious tea or even spending the night there. He and his friends and family are very lovely, helpful people.

I would definitely recommend the guided tour, since the first kilometer to the artwork is very sandy and you might get stuck on your own. Bachirs friends are very skilled drivers though, that will bring you there and back without worrying. 👍

The local guide will take you to these three monuments. We gave him 200 dhm for his trial. The road is a little more difficult, but the local guide knows the road well, we didn't have a 4x4 car (Dacia duster)

Our 4x4 got stucked in the thin sand on the way to see the L’Escalier Celeste and Bachir and his friend came to rescue us. In 40 mins the car was out and Bachir took us on the most fun adventure we have had in Morocco. We played techno while we raced through the dessert (it is actually part of the Paris-Dakar Rally). Bachir was a kind and generous guide and his smile and laughter was contagious. We had the best time with him cruising around.

He invited us for tea with his family. They have an association to show the canal systems (an impressive feat of engineering dating back to the 11th century that most passing tourist don’t know about) and still to this day provides water from the mountains to the oasis.

Bachir and his four sisters continue on important traditions of the region and culture. If you are thinking of buying a carpet you are a fool of not buying it here. Beautiful hand woven carpets chez Bachir.

You shouldn’t drive from Marrakech to Merzhouga without visiting this family.

Thank you Bachir! AFRICA!

We were amazed by the mini tour along the pits and the haima. There were volunteers that treated us excellently. Súper recommended to stop in your way to Merzouga dessert!

Very interesting place, and lovely people! Highly recommend stopping to have a chat over some tea, and to learn about the local history of irrigating the desert. The donation goes to a good cause as well as being worth it to visit the fascinating underground irrigation tunnels (which have been featured in Star Wars Origins and Mission Impossible Rogue Nation)

Hassan, our guide took us on adventure. We were a caravan of 5 vehicles, normal cars, no 4x4. We went to see 3x land arts, take picture and come back. Something that should have been 45 min took as 2.5 hours. And it was the best 2.5 hours in Morocco I had and I have been here for 6 months.

We had everything, from pulling our cars from sand to drinking tea in authentic berber tents to wild rally sections over sandy parts of the road.

It's a fantastic reccomendation for everyone looking for a unique type of adventure. Also, Hassan, the best guide so far, fluent in English which is not common.

Thank you Hassan!

Very interesting! The Guide Hassin gave us an excellent tour and was very informative. They are also more low-key then many of the tourist stops that can be quite high pressure in terms of upselling, etc.

Come here to see the khetterats, the historic plumbing and cannal system from the 11th century! Carved by hand by the nomads for water and agriculture! Bachir is very kind and speaks excellent English!

We stayed at Bachir for two nights, it was a unique experience. Bachir was very welcoming and friendly. It was interesting to discover the irrigation system. Bachir arranged a trip to Hannsjörg Voth's structures, this went smoothly.

Amazing place to get to know better the local culture. We wanted to see the beautiful sculptures of L’ESCALIER CÉLESTE, LA SPIRALE D’OR and LA CITÉ D’ORION and they brought us there for a beautiful experience also with local people. They have been very nice and helpful. Everything for a reasonable price
