Great for walks in all seasons but gets quite crowded in the summer even on the working days. Has a spot for winter swimming enthusiastic that seems popular with those who like their cold dips.

A great place. For the first time in Latvia, I saw a lake with green water. This made me very happy. I've also seen it on hills and slopes.

Nice place for both summer and winter activities. Especially nice for outdoor sports like cycling, cross-country skiing on organised and well-maintained paths.

Great place to visit, water is clear,huge parking spot, there is plase to change clothes overall 10/10

An amazing place with an even better view. Surprisingly the water was cleaner and more transparent than in other places we've been in Latvia. Really want to go for a swim there on a warmer summer day.

Nice place for a walk or picnic. Absolutely amazing, cristal clear water. Was there in autumn and spring, hope to check on summer.

Невероятной красоты место, простор для прогулок по лесным дорожкам! Осенью особенно красиво и ароматы леса чудесны. Большая парковка, если проехать дальше вдоль карьера - вторая парковка. Посетите обязательно, не пожалеете

Cooler Badestrand am See. Alles sauber und ordentlich überall in der Nähe. Weg zum Turm toll. Parkplätze stehen vor der Treppen zur Verfügung. Super mit Kindern. Insgesamt kann man sagen zu empfehlen und ich komme auch gerne wieder vorbei und empfehle es weiter

About Ikšķile
Town in Latvia

Ikšķile is a town in Latvia, in Ogre Municipality. It was the first capital of the Roman Catholic Bishopric of Livonia, known by the German name of Üxküll. Saint Meinhard was the first bishop of Üxküll. In 1197, Berthold of Hanover, a Cistercian abbot of Loccum, was made the second bishop of Üxküll. Those days the town was the center of the upcoming crusading activities in the Livonian area. Bishop Berthold moved the episcopal see to Riga, before being killed by the Livs in battle. source
