Koknese Castle Ruins

Beautiful castle ruins, built and on a headland between two (once) large rivers. During my visit, the facility was accessible for free. In case of bad weather, it will be very windy, so dress well.

Lovely place to visit if you are not far away, we visited in stormy/windy weather and had such fun, we was only people around so enjoyed it. Entrance was 2 € from person, so it’s affordable and have lovely park around it so can have some good walk as well.

One of the most beautiful castle ruins in Latvia. I really hope that one day we will be able to all the walley which is under the water now

Beautiful location by River, lots of information boards and trails, car park available too, Cafe and toilets which were closed until summer. No ticket required, Free to enter! Could explore all areas of the ruins without any restrictions, went on a week day and didn’t see anyone else.

Awsome ruins. Entrance costs 2€. I can recommend to visit this ppace, especially in sunny summer day. Love Latvia.

If you are into old ruins and castles this one together with its story is one which you should visit. It's almost Vikings who ruined everything and it happened a long time ago.
There's also a park with awesome freshness and trails.
The whole town has its vibe and you should visit it in sunny day with light wind breeze.

This is the place where Daugava meets old castle ruins, so full of romance and history. You'll get the best view with sunny weather. There is also a walkway by the river to the Likteņdārzs.

Very interesting place to have a walk. Very marvelous in Autumn time. You can even go for a trip by ancient boat.

Paid entry to the castle ruins are affordable (and very good discounts for students/elderly), but the place is very nice and worth the price. Surroundings (which can be explored for free) are quite scenic. Parking is free of charge.

Very-very beautiful ruins of medieval castle of Great Lithuanian Commonwealth time. Covered with water since 1964, when the Power Plant dumb was build. Small city nearby, several villages, and amazing boat trips provided by locals. Magnificent place.

Nice place for walks and you can really feel all the strenght of the River Daugava. I suggest first to visit Tourist information centre iņ Koknese to hear about the castle it once was.

Nice park. The lady selling the tickets spend a.lot of time with us. I was with a group of 12 boys (12 to - 16 yo) and they were super interested in what she said. The place has WC all over and super views. It is quite iconic.

Clean and well maintained ruins with information center at the "gates". Beautiful park even for a late night stroll after sunset since park trail is well lid.

It is and was one of the most beautiful places in Latvia. I recommend that everyone goes there at least once. In sunset it is beautiful and you can get a boat ride to look at it from the surrounding river!

Lovely ,mysterious athmosphere that takes you into the feel of medieval times and marvel at the wonders of history.

We took a river boat tour - amazing tour in hystorical information combined with sightseeing!

Really atmospheric and nice. Also, pretty nice audio guide, in 5 languages or so. Totally worth a visit. And I guess I will return later.
