Vianden Castle

Visiting from Florida and wasn’t disciplined by the castle. The views were amazing, the size was awesome and the interior was pretty cool to see. Worth the trip from Kaiserslautern. Parking can be difficult on the weekends.

Amazing hidden gem in Luxembourg.
If you are interested in history this is must visit place.
The castle is located approx 1 hour from the Luxembourg city. But worth the drive. You will encounter amazing scenes on the way. They have a parking available, but it is limited. You can get an audio guide for yourself in the language you prefer .castle is not very big in itself. But still it will take one hour for you to visit completely. They have a cafeteria in the beginning in case you are hungry. The staff is very helpful if you need anything. there are explanations everywhere so if you want, you don’t need to buy an audio guide

It's one of the most beautiful castles i have ever visited. I recommend you pay 2 eur extra for the audio guide. it's worth it. There is also a nice souvenir shop/cafe inside.

Waw, I loved it. Very beautiful expérience, I recommend it to anyone who visits Luxembourg. There is a coffee place where you can eat snacks and delicious strawberry cake. A souvenirs place is also cool inside the coffee shop

How amazing it is to be able to relive the history of this palace.

The castle is about 1 hour by car from Luxembourg city.

The tickets are 10 euros for adults and 2 euros for an audio guide. Since the guide ( handheld , not an earphone / headphone ) can be heard , 2-3 people can share 1.

There was no wait. The audio was very detailed and it was lovely to share the fragments of historical essence as we walked past each room. The large kitchen was my favorite as well as the banquet hall.

I was completely mesmerized by the sheer grandeur of the bedroom, banquet hall and the history behind the Vianden Castle.

We are so glad that we decided to make this decision to go and visit this. Absolutely a must visit 🙂

An amazing castle to visit in Luxembourg. We visited in February, so overcast and a little rainy but that did not stop the enjoyment. Highly recommended if you are in the area!!

We spent about 3 hours exploring the castle/palace, taking photos, soaking up the history, reading all interpretive signs and watching the fabulous movie.
We thought it was very considerate of the planners to put toilets on opposite ends of the tour! This tourist attraction was our destination today and we were so glad we added it to our itinerary.

Beautiful Castle, so much history. It’s like an adventure going back to the previous time.
The only thing is that, I was wearing a high heel boots, and it was hard to walk here since the entry is uphill and hard to walk back down( girl issues)
Also, there is not much of story written in inside like what happened etc, not very informative esp for a tourist like me if I did not made a research about the castle, I also wouldn’t know anything. They just put the dates of it was built until the present.
Another option is that you can rent an audio where it tell you more about the castle. The entrance is 8-10 euros I think for adult, can’t remember exactly, and 2 euros for the audio guide.
There’s a coffee restaurant and shop here that sells souvenirs and good alcohol from the area.
Must see if you are in Luxembourg.

Vianden Castle is a great stop over whether you're traveling through Luxembourg or day-trip when staying nearby. Definitely worth getting the audio guide to hear more about the history and additional insights.

Worth the drive. An enjoyable experience, beautiful views and some great education on the function and history of this medieval castle. We showed up first thing in the morning on a summer Monday. We were able to avoid the crowds. It got busy as we were leaving. Popular tourism bus stop.

The most beautiful thing I have ever looked at from a closer range, well kept, clean and best to visit during winter because it’d let’s crowded, staff are very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed my visit to this iconic place.

Visiting the castle in Vianden was an unforgettable experience for me. The castle is one of the most beautiful and largest monuments of Romanesque-Gothic architecture in Europe. It was built on the site of a former Roman watchtower, and for centuries was the seat of the Dukes of Vianden and the Nassau family. The castle has many interesting halls and rooms that can be explored on your own or with an audio guide. I admired, among others a Byzantine gallery, a banquet hall with tapestries, a bedroom and a banquet room with a fireplace. On the information boards you can learn many interesting facts about the history of the castle and its inhabitants. The castle was restored in the 1970s and is now open to the public.

Visiting the castle was not only a history lesson, but also an opportunity to admire the beautiful views of the town of Vianden and the Our River valley. From the castle terrace you can see picturesque landscapes, charming houses and the church of St. Trinity. You can also use the cable car that connects the castle with the city centre. It's a great way to see the area from a different perspective.

Vianden Castle is a place I recommend to anyone who likes history, architecture and beautiful nature. It's the perfect place to spend a few hours or the whole day. I am very pleased with my visit and will definitely return.

Very nice presentation of the castle's history in the visitor centre. The castle is worth a visit. Fully furnished with original pieces, beautiful views. Just prepare for walking a lot to the hill.

My visit to Vianden Castle was like stepping into a history book, but way cooler! This place has seen it all—from its early days to the amazing upgrades over time.

I loved wandering around, imagining what life was like for the people who lived here centuries ago. The castle's different styles and hidden nooks had me feeling like I was in a real-life fairytale.

Checking out the displays and old stuff inside gave me a peek into how people used to live. Plus, the views from up there were just stunning, making the whole visit even more unforgettable.

Vianden Castle rocks at telling stories of the past. It’s a must-visit for anyone into history or just looking for a seriously cool place to explore!

And don't forget to get the audio tour. It is worth it.

Beautiful castle. One of the must visit castles in Luxembourg. Beautiful town with beautiful views. There is a chairlift service or you can walk through the town to the castle. Unfortunately we didn't had much time to visit/go inside the castle. But there was a long queue for the entrance during our weekday visit. Before going inside the castle, I would recommend viewing the castle from view points. You can easily reach Vianden town from Luxembourg using public transportation.

Beautiful castle. I am editing my reviews as this is my second visit. Last year it was sunny but this year it was raining. But no issues once you enter the castle rain doesn't make you wet. It is very nice and easy to follow numbers to cover the entire castle.

A magical place to visit in a very picturesque town. A must do while in Luxembourg. We took two buses (which are free)from the city to reach Vianden and it was an easy trip. The chairlift up the hill is also good value.

A fantastic ski lift type ride up the extremely steep side of the hill takes you to the top for spectacular views of the surrounding area. Nice cafe at the top which wasn't too expensive. Free car parking as well, always a bonus.

It’s a nice escape outside of the city! The castle is nice for a day trip!
Also, you can find nice restaurants nearby to have lunch.
Transportation is very easy from the the city.
